Maybe Amicus is right after all...

Speaking ofd which, didn't Michael Moore attempt to run a ficus for congress once?

The senatorial horse was a brilliant idea.

He never voted against the party line.

He never bored the senate with long speeches.

He didn't have constituents who wanted favours.

He didn't accept bribes, nor do anything for base reasons.

He didn't seduce women (or men) nor willingly indulge in drugs or mind-altering substances.

He served as long as he was required to, and didn't object when he was told that he was no longer a senator, nor did he seek re-election.

It's a little known fact that just as Karl Marx founded the British Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, in the 19th century

It's probably not well known because it's incorrect.

In England, the organization that deals with animal cruelty is the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). It was founded in the 1820s, when Karl Marx would've still been a child.

Even prior to its formation, there was an Act passed in Parliament banning cruelty to livestock.

Box...I think you fail to see the irony in this. Pure, by his expressed philosophy, is bound to support such ideas. That is the 'flaw' in the ethical and moral system he and others advocate

Did anyone else think it was way more fun around here when Ami thought Pure was a girl?

There's been a movement (for example The Great Ape Project) in support of 'Great Ape personhood' for quite a while, including campaigning to get the UN to make a declaration on ape rights.

A surprising number of well-known and well-respected scientists, especially primatologists, advocate such.

The horse wasn't just a Senator. He was a Consul. His name was Incitatus. And he was appointed by the Roman Emperor Caligula.

Incidentally, I once thought that Pure was a girl. And a prude, for a little bit. Guess that was two cases where I was wrong.

Maybe we shouldn't be too quick to judge.

If the Transhumanists get their way, those of us who don't 'transcend' will be the apes.

;) mostly.

:cathappy:

I've expressed that sentiment more than once, yes.

I was just looking at this item again.

Meanwhile, other political commentators have stated that as a result of these measures, it will not be long before apes names will start appearing on the electoral rolls.

In Chicago, they probably already have them, along with dead people and people who never existed.
