Well it isn't a new area for me, but i've got a bit worried you see when i masturbate the foreskin doesn't go back that far, most of the head is still covered up and i'm worried there could be something wrong. i've always thought it would just take time but theres only a certain amount of time someone can sit back and think everything is fine. Any help?

I'm not a guy, but as far as I know you should be able to pull the whole of the foreskin back. Also for hygenic reasons. If you can't do that you should consult your doctor. It's not strange or weird; happens to a lot of guys and can be helped easily.

Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Are you circumsized? That might be a factor.

If you're really uneasy with it, there may be some medical sites that address the matter. Or just visit your doc.

you need to see a doctor, it sounds like you may need to be circumsized if the skin is't pulling back(i know somebody that this happened to). :)

I don't think they do a circumcision when the foreskin doesn't retract. It's a much smaller, less painful procedure, I believe.

well not with the guy i was talking about it he was circumsized

This happened to my friend. He couldn't pull the foreskin back and was worried because (as someone mentioned before) of hygenic reasons, and he also said that it would feel uncomfortable, and even painful at times. Like SweetErika said, it is not a painful procedure to fix this problem. My friend was in and out of the doctors office same day.

Yes, I understood that. My point was that neither the person with the problem, nor the doctor, should jump to circumcision as the answer for foreskin that doesn't retract fully because that's a very painful, life-altering procedure, and circumcision isn't the automatic fix for the problem. Don't want to scare the OP into thinking the only fix is to have his foreskin cut off. :)

I'm guessing there are a fair number of doctors who do jump to circumcision as the answer because it makes them more money and/or they're unaware of how damaging it can be. Of course there are situations that call for circumcision and some guys do it voluntarily, but it's like C-sections and hysterectomies in the respect that it's an overdone, unnecessary surgery most of the time.

Sweet Erika I agree with you, surgery may not be necessary

Sometimes short-term steroid creams resolve the problems and their is no need for circumcision.

But as no-one has owned up to being a doc in this thread, I am sure your GP will be able to give you the best advice.

answer from a doc...

I'm a doc...and you need to see one. Everyone's correct that for hygenic purposes you should retract the foreskin and clean around the head of the penis every day. If you can't, you've probably developed adhesions (fibrous tissue similar to that in scar tissue) that attaches the foreskin to the head of penis. They can usually be released with an uncomfortable, but not excruciating procedure, circumcision is occasionally necessary. The primary risk here is that of penile cancer, which can develop as a result of HPV infection (the same viruses that cause cervical cancer in women). Uncircumcised men are at slightly increased risk of this and those with adhesions have a higher risk of advanced disease because they aren't identified as early.

Go see either your primary care doctor or a urologist right away...nothing to panic about, just get it fixed.

the foreskin goes about halfway back over the head, it is going further back each time i try. Could it just be it needs time to "stretch"?

It's funny I have heard similar questions on love line and Dr Drew always says oh your probably gonna need surgery. I agree it would probably be good to have it looked at and yes maybe surgery may be necessary but I have seen many people stretch their foreskin to the point where they can fit pool balls and even larger items inside their foreskin.
Just like a piercing or labia stretching you can stretch parts of the body.
If a woman can stretch her labia 6" long or have urethral intercourse and a man can fit a Qball in his foreskin I am sure it's possible to get it over your head.
If you are interested in this though make sure you research it and know how to do it right. If you tear anything it will heal with scar tissue and be that much tighter and harder to stretch.

I just hate how enthusiastic docs can be about cutting around that area when other options might be available.

I have a foreskin and as an young adult going :) thru puberty I found that when aroused I had trouble getting it back all the way. When flacid I could expose the entire head and clean the penis fully. (just had to be a bit care full that it didn't become arroused while exposed) I am very greatfull to have my penis uncut as it makes stroking much easier without lube. My girlfriend loves to play with the foreskin telling me its the best cock she has ever had. I can now pull the skin back with a full hardon no problem at all. :)

My son had a foreskin that would not retract. The urologist perscribed a topical steroid to apply 3x a week. It worked within just over 3 months of beginning therapy. No surgery.

BTW--neither the pediatrician, nor the urologist were worried about it in terms of hygiene. They both said it didn't appear that there was any problem. The pediatrician told us to keep an eye on it for may years and just see if we could gently loosen it over time. Finally when he was around 8, she referred him to the urologist.

All is well!

Erika's right. your foreskin is probably attached on the underside of your penis head, not allowing it to retract. They can easily fix that without a true circumcison.

no matter what, have it looked at, since I don't think that's normal (I'm circumcised...) and for the hygiene reasons already mentioned.

I had a friend who had this very same problem a few years ago. He finally mentioned it to a doctor and he found out that it only required a very simple operation to get it fixed. He had to wear a bandage down there for about a week, but he was so pleased with the results. Apparently, it made an enormous amount of difference, and he was able to enjoy sex and masturbation much better.

Anyway, like several other people have said, you should definitely make an appointment to see your doctor to get it taken care of. You will probably be quite relieved to know the solution is quite simple!

Circumcision is almost certainly not needed for this condition, as described. The problem is that many Doctors and others will push the circumcision option. So you should do some research and if your doctor suggests circumcision, get a second opinion, to be sure.
