'You just gotta show your panties to your Dad,

Ebony (Boy laughs) this song seemed to just come into my head after I read your post.

Try to imagine Leonard Cohen and possibly Bob Dylan singing it! Something similar to that track they did together on Death of a ladie's Man produced by Phil Spector Don't Go Home With Your Hard On...You know the one?

Well, in that vein, no?

(With Nasal Whine) 'Boy, you gotta show your panties to your Dad
Boy, you just gotta show your panties to you Dad
Boy, sometime you know, you just gotta
Show your panties to your Dad.

It could be the chorus. Ok, so which of you geniuses out there can give me the first verse? Huh? Come on, don't be shy? ( HEHEHEHE!)

Isn't that on Leonard's "I'm Your Man" CD?

I am horrible at writing music, but I will pull up a chair and watch the musicians come up with the goods, lol.

More Musings...

This thread has made me stroll down memory lane: Remember this one?

Song: My Conviction Lyrics ( From Hair)

You know kids, I wish every mom
and dad would make a speech to their
teenagers and say kids, be free,
be whatever you are, do whatever you
want to do, just so long as you don't hurt anybody.
And remember kids,
I am your friend.

I would just like to say that it is my conviction
That longer hair and other flamboyant affectations
Of appearance are nothing more
Than the male's emergence from his drab camoflage
Into the gaudy plumage
Which is the birthright of his sex

There is a peculiar notion that elegant plumage
And fine feathers are not proper for the male
When ac---tually
That is the way things are
In most species

"The male is a domestic animal which, if treated with firmness and kindness, can be trained to do most things."
Jilly Cooper

"Give a man a free hand and he'll run it all over you."

"I only like two kinds of men, domestic and foreign."
Mae West

HAIR had music!

All I experienced was naked people....

Ah Ebony!

Shanky don't know his music! But what would you expect from an Elton John fan?

Just kiddin' you Shanks! (It's time you and me had a laugh together, no?)

Ok, to make it up to you, go get the godamn CD and listen to SODOMY.

Remember Ebony?

Milos Formann directed the film. Gee Eb, glad you brought that one up. That is a trip down memory lane. Remember the opening track, AQUARIUS?

'This is the dawning of the age of AQUARIUS,
The Age of Aquarius
AQUARIUS!'

Wow, fucking brilliant. But terribly sentimental for me. Now I'll show you my vulnerable side Shanky.

I was first introduced to that Musical by, to quote Frank Sinatra-staying on the musical theme- 'The Gal that Got Away'. All sigh!

God, she broke my heart.... ( Boy lost in time space, his heart floating before him in the air in a bell jar)

But, that's LOVE... First Love/First Bite, or Cut...

Here's a little number on just that same theme....

LOVE

Two thousand cigarettes.
A hundred miles
from wall to wall.
An eternity and a half of vigils
blanker than white snow.

Tons of words
old as tracks
of a platypus in the sand.

A hundred books we didn't write.
A hundred pyramids we didn't build.

Sweepings.
Dust.

Bitter
as the beginning of the world.

Believe me when I say
it was beautiful.

( Miroslav Holub - takem from Poems Before and After, Bloodaxe Books )

That says it all for me. Excuse me while I go cry in a bucket.

Hair's nudity was lightweight. I saw the really nude show, Oh Calcutta! And I had house seats 7th row center. Bill Macy (Maude) shook his thingy in my face! LOL

Well I hated the movie!

I go way back. I saw the stage play at least 4 times. See I was a Theatre Major and dance minor back in the day. I saw a lot of shows because my friends were in them. Hence I got to see all kinds of Hair. You name it, I saw it in the 70s!

No crying. You will ruin your makeup and look like a raccoon.

I have to say I've always appreciated the accessorizing of the black leather jacket with proper eyeliner coverage. On boys or on girls this is the way to go. But one could even argue that it was the homoerotic draw of James Dean that *made* the icon.

I think most men are beginning to realize the price paid, the ways that The System fucks them. I don't think the fact that we live longer on average is some accident of biology - I think it's that we don't have to bottle our shit up.

I agree with ya. Now women are internalizing things we never did before to get along in the workplace. Our rising mortality rates reflects that trend.

so let the shit flow...

Do you all remember that moment when you confided to your partner, at the time, your most deepest secret, your most deepest fear? At your most vulnerable...

And what happened?

What disaster befell you, what catastrophe or fall?

Why, you're still alive! AND HAPPY!!!

let the shit flow like a sea

I believe it contributed to my divorce. ;)

And yes, I'm still alive and very much happy... a bit lonly, but happy. :rose:

I'm so glad to hear it my dear...

Sometimes you possibly look back and think about what you lost...

and it appears to you like another life, perhaps somebody elses...

and that is when you become truly aware of everyone elses heartbreak and pain...

and you're finally living... counting each blessed moment... because you're finally free... and although you struggle, sometimes almost at the cost of your sanity... the beauty and truth that you have witnessed, you would not trade in for another lifetime...

this is eternity, every waking moment

I bless even the shit, for without it I would have nothing to compare my happiness to, and then, how would i even know that I'm happy, or born for that matter?

Quite frankly it has been too long a time for me to remember any of that. I do not take life that seriously. Anyone who is My partner knows what he is getting. I have left angst well behind me.

Masculine musings?

Or "stream of unconsciousness"?

Papa Hemingway writing about old men and big fish and Spaniards fighting for a Republic.

Heartbeats in the chest, each one precious.
;)

That's enough for now.

appreciate the input Geoff...

In particular the 'Streams of unconsciousness', Chuckle...

And as for Papa Hemingway...Yes indeedy, he was De Man. Love in particular A Moveable Feast, his Parisian memoire. also his ideas on war, it being a natural culling to keep the population of the species in check, as timely and as controversial as ever. All praise to the well, the mysterious wordy well.

Boy bows out
