Okay, after some painful moments tonight, I am all shaved. Anyone else have problems when they do this? Definitely got a few unpleasant tiny cuts doing it.

Also anyone ever successfully done any cool designs? I've tried to do a smiley face, batman symbol, superman symbol but they never pan out lol.

The design things are just more for fun, but just shaving down to nothing has been whats causing me problems. I want to avoid any cuts...

Batman symbol would be SOOOO kickass! Try to perfect it! I'm sure your girlfriend'll be WAY impressed!

Easiest way to do designs is to make a template and remove all the hair that isn't covered. I believe I've seen them advertised for women, haven't seen anything like you're describing though.

What's your shaving routine? If we know what you're doing now in terms of steps and products used, maybe we can spot some of the pitfalls and help you avoid cuts in the future.

I have an add-on question to this. How do you avoid the razor bumps afterward? I like to trim just so its not nasty down there, but I hate shaving because its only nice for about an hour after its done.

My routine is eratic. Sometimes 2 weeks, sometimes a month.

As far as razor bumps, I don't really get them down there, facial shaving ugh yeah :(

I've tried shaving down below a few times, always using old-fashioned soap and brush but with a more modern razor (I think a three blade Gilette the last time I tried). I've never had too much of an issue with the shaving itself, but after a couple of days it gets so bristly that it's a serious nuisance.
If a girl is especially keen on me being shaved, I'll consider putting in the time and effort to shave every day or two. In the meantime I'm just keeping it trimmed.

Never thought of trying to do a design... as NippleMuncher writes, I'd expect that a template is the easiest way to go about it.

OK, but what steps are you going through and what products (cream, razor, etc.) are you using? Both make a huge difference.

But then so does consistency and practice. If you shave daily or every other day, for instance, you'll likely get so good at it in time that nicks will be a thing of the distant past. And for it not to be itchy and stubbly, consistency is key.

In terms of razor burn, horsie gurl, make sure you exfoliate beforehand and you may need to change your routine and/or equipment, including what you use after.

Or you could wax and avoid the shaving issues entirely.

We have an electric razor that was designed just for the purpose of shaving those bits. I normally shave the wife weekly. I do myself infrequently for a few reasons.

I also sometimes when I am feeling lazy use a very mild bikini zone nair. It works very well, but be careful of the kind you get I also don't suggest using that if you are a woman.

Make sure you use a sharp razor and keep the skin stretched tight.
Getting someone else to do it saved strain on my neck (and was more than a little fun!)
I used to get razor bumps but IIRC Having a good rub with one of those exfoliating (loofa type) gloves before shaving and then every time I showered helped.
Nothing much helped with stubble though.

That was all before I was brave enough to try getting waxed. As Erica says, it's he best solution to all the shaving woes.

I've never tried shapes as complicated as you're suggesting. These days I tend to go for an upward pointing triangle as I think it looks the neatest. I quite like the idea of something fun - can't imagine what the beautician would say if I said "I'd like my pubes to look like the Bat Signal please." Tee hee!

Exfoliating helps, a GOOD sharp razor ( I prefer shick QUATTRO ) is requisite, but the shave gel ( or other) is also a big factor. We have used many, but the general rule is- the slimier the better. Avon has a skin so soft shave gel that is awesome, gillette and skintimate premium shave gels aren't bad, but something like Dove hair conditioner works great- maybe better than any. It can be tough to get a routine started, but soon your body will get used to it. Regular shaving leads to fewer problems than infrequent shaving. I have been shaving down there for years, and nowadays it's very quick and painless.

i've always found trimming (using an electric beard trimmer) more comfortable in the long run than actually shaving, myself.

Maybe instead of shaving a symbol you could try penazzling.

I've never had problems with bumps. I just use soap (generally Dove) and a Gilette Fusion. Works great.

Shaving the sac is easier if you're a little cold. Less area to cover with it tightened up.

I honestly use no product. I have a facial electric shaver that I sometimes just use below lol.
