Mama Blu's

My point proven lol.
It's gotta be a Va thing. One for which I will happily forgo understanding.
Oh lima beans are good if they are drenched in chow chow. ;)
No, they are not. It's a personal thing for me. As a kid, lima beans were served once or twice a week and I was forced to eat them. If I refused, I got a whippin' from my dad.

You know I don't think I have ever tried Spam. Probably doesn't help that whenever I think of it I start hearing Monty Python. [laughs]

Spam spam spam spam spam spam spam spam....
Spam was (and to some extent, still is) considered a gourmet ingredient for Hawaiians.
Austin Tx used to have Spam-O-Rama every year, but it folded. I think there was some issues with Hormel. The last one was five years ago.
It's a shame, really. It used to be one of the fun things about the ATX...

Actually I think it's a Pennsylvania Dutch thing, at least that seems to be where it starts. I've found scrapple as far north as NY, as far south as VA, west as Ohio. Also found something similar in VA/NC called liver pudding or liver mush that's primarily liver but same basic concept.

I'll wager you've spent far more time in that area than myself, so I'll take you at your word.

Still not a fan of scrapple. For me it ranks right down there with head cheese.

Yeah I grew up in NJ and have lived up and down the eastern seaboard.

To each their own, I only have it a couple of times a year due to the high fat content and it has to be cooked right. Cook it wrong and it can be quite nasty.

Jesus! What the hell are you guys eating? [laughs]

Actually I think this might be a great cover charge for the day.

What is the grossest, most disgusting thing you have ever eaten?

Easy, right?

Blu

Durian - it's a stinky fruit from South East Asia. Absolutely foul

I have never heard of it. Hmmm... *scurries off to wikipedia*

Ahh the Custard Apple as we know it. Yeah it smells absolutely fowl but it is beautiful when you eat it.
We had to prepare these things in a special area outside though when we used them, with two industrial fans going. They really do smell that bad.

Well Blu -

Here's the Glug ~ or Glogg if you prefer ~

I made it last night it was good and will be even better today.

That looks so yummy! I will admit Hubs and my oldest are not fans of the drink. But if I remember correctly, my youngest liked it. I might just have to whip up a batch of my own and see if (hopefully) the others will change their minds about it.

How are you doing tonight?

Cover Charge Sun 12/15

*sigh* Well it is Sunday the end of the weekend and the start of a new week. You know I should be in better spirits but this coming week holds school meetings for the boys and the start of going to the gym.

Yes, I joined a gym. What the hell was I thinking?? I can only try to prepare you. There will be a lot of bitching and moaning from here on out.

So those are the things I am dreading this week. How about you? Have anything scheduled that you are not looking forward to? Come and share. Misery loves company and all that. ;)

Blu

I'm not looking forward to the days and days of cleaning then hours and hours of prepping and cooking for the annual Christmas dinner. They'll all be in and out of here in about 4 hours leaving a huge mess. Other than that I love the fucking Holidays.

I dread the beginning of Valentine's Day commercials on the 26th! I mean for Christ's sake, it's DECEMBER!!!

I'm lucky. We are going to someone else's house for Christmas :D

On another note, Hubby is laughing at me. There is an older woman that routinely gets confused and ends up misdialing while trying to get in touch with her niece. This has been going on so long that I figured out the phone number for her niece and now when she calls I give her the correct number. It's not a huge thing but Hubby thinks it is funny as hell.

LMAO oh that is good. That's just as good as our local council. They recently put new houses further down the road in a brand new housing development. New suburb same road. Councils solution, start numbering at number 1 again. We have so many delivery people knocking on our door we actually know her name, how many children she has and where she shops, even though we have never met her.

Not dreading anything this week.....tis a quiet one

Hey there Obviously! Welcome to Blu's. We are an irreverent bunch but hopefully you will come to love us. :D

Can I get you anything to drink?

Phosphofructokinase. I think scientists should be banned from making up words...

Okay... new rule! When someone introduces a new word, they have to define it. [laughs]

[laughs] Yeah, I know the older woman's name and once got the chance to wish her a happy birthday.

Phosphofructokinase: catalyzes the important "committed" step of glycolysis, the conversion of fructose 6-phosphate and ATP to fructose 1,6-bisphosphate and ADP.

Studying for an Anatomy and Physiology final heh.

Okaaayyy... I am gonna have to take your word for it. [laughs]

About the same I'm doing with my prof, I'll take his word for it, the man's a damned genius, and be grateful that the people who have to deal with it are taking a course that I don't have to take.

I'm dreading working this week. And, next week. And the clean-up after the holidays in my departments. And, the two, yes two, dinners I have to go to this weekend.
