Mama Blu's

Oh no, darlin'. That would be a gift to you. ;)

[laughs] But the question was.. who is the hardest person to buy for on your list?

Don't discount the possibility that you might like my gift. ;)

Hey guys!

Sorry.. it seems like lately all i have time to do is pop in, put up a cover and then off to deal with crap around here.

I think I need a drink. A really stiff one!

Still it is important to keep up with the bar... so let me think...Well it is officially the start of the Christmas season. Which of course means killing myself trying to find the perfect gift for each person. I swear as we get older I find it more and more difficult to get a good present for my parents. I mean, what do you get people that just go out and buy whatever it is that they want? Grrr....

Hey! That's a good cover, don't you think? Who is the hardest person on your present list? Who is the one person that you can never think of a good present for? Who do you secretly wish you could take off the list and thereby making your shopping a helluva lot easier? [laughs]

Don't worry, we won't tell.

Blu:kiss:

I hate buying stuff for my dad! He's like your parents, Blu- when he wants someone, he just goes out to get it. And he has pretty expensive taste, so if there *is* something he puts on his Christmas list, I can't afford it anyway.

And I hate, hate, hate shopping in general....ugh. :(

The hardest person to buy for is my oldest son, because he was adopted out to my aunt and uncle and I do not know his likes and dislikes. My cousin is the person that I can never think of a good enough one to buy. And his brother I would like to take off my list as he is so damn picky it is not funny, and he finds fault with everything.

Can I have a mountain dew with some vodka in it please?

Oh wow! Incredibly late. But sorry I had the opportunity to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas with the kids. Then hubby set up the new TV and we had to futz about with it for a while trying to get the remote programmed. Bah!

So I will leave this cover up for the rest of tonight and for tomorrow.

Easy Peasy.. I love Charlie Brown and somehow watching that show signals the Christmas season has started. So for you.. what is your favorite holiday movie? Which one just sets the season?

Who knows maybe one night we will have a movie night. I will even make popcorn. :D

Blu

Wouldn't it be awful if our kids didn't like A Charlie Brown Christmas and wouldn't watch it? Or Rudolph? Hopefully they'll always stay ageless.

Hello, Blu, no need to ask how your evening is going so far. Sounds pretty good.

It was nice. My oldest actually snuggled up with me while watching. It's been a long time since he has wanted to cuddle.

And how is your evening? So Rudolph is your favorite?

Sorry I missed you last night, Blu. It is nice when your kids want to get close. My oldest is turning 13 and our best times recently are when we're not talking.

My favorites are the basics, Charlie Brown, Rudolph, Christmas Story and It's a Wonderful Life.

And my favorite Christmas drink? Baileys on the rocks. It's like a milkshake. And because it's the holidays I don't feel any guilt ... until after my fifth one. Speaking of which, is the bar open?

A Christmas Carol, the 1984 version. It was the only movie we all watched together growing up, and often decorated our tree before it started.

Mornin' All!

Those are great movies for the holiday season! I love A Muppets Christmas Carol. What can I say I love The Muppets.

And you are a fine one to talk about sticky floors, Joy! It's all your fault. not sure how but damn sure it is! :p

So what to ask for today... hmmm.... oh oh oh!

So every year I go and I try to find an ornament for the year. It doesn't have to be expensive but just something that sums up the past year. I will admit my favorite ornament is a plastic Santa that Hubby and I got the first year we were married. [laughs] We were so damn poor we couldn't afford ornaments. Hell, we could barely afford the tree. A local store was giving away a free ornament with purchase. It is cheap plastic and the color is wearing thin from the numerous Christmases, but to me it symbolizes that first year together and shows how far we have come. So even though I have since bought and received beautiful, expensive ornaments for my tree over the years, that little plastic drugstore Santa will always be my favorite.

How about you? Do you have a favorite ornament? Care to tell us why it is so special to you?

Blu

Hi Blu -

Beginning with my first Christmas I have received an ornament every year. My grandparents began this tradition and my, now 83 year old, mother continues it. When I have grandchildren, I will do the same thing for them. So I have a box with over 50 ornaments, each labeled with a year, in it. The oldest ones are the most treasured. The first is a pair of skis, which is funny because I ended up becoming a pretty good skier.

My favorite ornament has nothing to do with Christmas. :D

[laughs] You really don't like answering these questions do you, Mr. No?

I love that idea! I have been purchasing ornaments for my boys every year but I like your idea of putting the year on them. I need to make a box for each of them in order to keep their ornaments from getting mixed in with mine.

So how are your holidays looking so far?

Mine use to be the ones I made as a kid. My dad gave them to me when I got my own place. Now, they are the ones my kids make me.

Those are the greatest. I think my mom still has the one I made for her while in kindergarten.

So how is today going for ya, sugar? Need a drink? :rose::kiss:

I have a little porcelain angel that used to be my mother's. It's one of the ones she bought when she first got married...they were pretty poor too, so it's a cheapo, but it gets a spot in the front of my tree every year.

Isn't it funny how with so many things the value of something has no correlation to the expense of it?

Most everything that I hold dear (possession wise) is not expensive but certainly priceless. :)

I don't have a lot of possessions. I don't like them...it's just clutter, if you ask me. But I do have a few things I hold onto, and yes...they are monetarily worthless for the most part. :)
