Does anyone know how to make a slideshow of pics saved on a hard drive?

I wanna.. with my own personal pics.

btw, I only have Irfanview.. and the Photoshop that came with the printer.. but have no clue about the slideshow part.

In IrFanview, click file/slideshow.

Select the pictures youwant included and click ADD to add them to the slideshow file.

Click play.

There are some preferences that you can set about whether to show actual size or fit pictures to the screen, but that's minor stuff. You can use the defaults and get a slideshow working in about 30 seconds by clicking "add all" and "play" with IrFanview.

I'm thinking powerpoint (not real slides)

Hey Harold.. how'd I know you'd show up? :D

I actually already got that far w/ Irfanview... but how do I save the actual slideshow to my hard-drive? I hit 'save as TXT file' which seems to be the only option available.. and when I go to get it off the hard-drive, it's only a directory of the pics I used, not the actual pics themselves.

If you want a PowerPoint style slide presentation that you can send to someone else, you need Powerpoint. It's the only program I know of that most people would have access to that does that kind of presentation.

I have several programs that do slideshows, but all of them use the pictures where they are except PowerPoint and IrFanview is the easiest to set up of all of them.

There is one other way to do a slide show -- convert all pictures to GIF format, and combine them into an animated GIF file. Animation Shop by JASC software (the makers of PaintShop Pro) allows youto set a delay time between frames that makes an animated GIF look like a slideshow.

The advantage of an animated GIF is that anyone with a browser can view it. The disadvantage is that the GIF format only allows a color resolution of 256 colors and many pictures don't convert to GIF well.

I don't mean Powerpoint specifically.. cuz I don't think I have that.. but thats the type of show I meant (I think).

So, let's say I have a dozen pics I want to use, to flash from one to the other in like 2 second time delay between frames. If I use Irfanview nobody but me can see the 'slideshow'?

What if I wanted to send it to someone else? Not possible with that program?

Well, anybody can see it, but only if they're using your computer.

You could send the pictures and a copy of IrFanview with a slideshow textfile to show them in the order you planned. You'd have to edit out the drive and folder designations in the slideshow file and make sure that the pictures were placed in IrFanview's default directory for it to work.

I'll check around and see what I can find that will do what you want cheaper than buying a copy of powerpoint for you and for whoever you want to send it to.
