Making Marks

Well I bruise very easily. I have very white skin and it hates everything. I also am prone to eczema and urticaria so my skin is naturally very dry, which doesn't help. Here in our little British summer I'm already breaking out the factor 30 sunscreen on my face and shoulders. If I ever went near CA or Australia I'd be a blackened, twisted carcass within minutes of leaving the plane. I have often wondered if I'm part vampire or whether my mother had an affair with an albino lol. I have very dark hair but my skin is so white it's almost blue. I'm a natural born goth.

We have worked around this because back in the days when he used to choke me, even choking for a few seconds at a time would leave red marks on my the next day that took some explaining. We only do impact play on areas that I can easily cover up although he does still get carried away and bite my neck or shoulder on occasion, forcing me into polo neck tops for a few days.

FF, I'd be glad of your resilience if I were you. There are plenty of ways you can be marked and claimed. He can write his name in black marker pen on your ass if the mood takes him or you could try temporary henna tattoos and he can mark you that way. There are so many things you can do.

You're adorable.
I've never seen someone seeking out marks in such a fashion.

Crop as a cane?? BASTARD! (sounds like my kinda sadist)

Hmm..sounds like you have some serious Wolverining going on there.
Cell popping was suggested and it sounds like a damn good rout.
Your skin is so fair tho. Amazing.
Well I wish you the very best of luck in your search for marking or being marked.

Next time tell the biting guy to go a little harder. ;)

I WANNA DO SOME BITES DAMNIT!

Well, you're there, and I'm here and I think you've people aplenty to knaw on ;) I'll just have to go ahunting about my geographical area. Don't know if I could have taken harder at the time...seemed pretty dang hard...but perhaps I will learn to take more, and then who knows? Happy hunting to you too. :rose:

:D

Added in a little style, thought she may not be hitting hard enough.

Anyway, I just remember, the secret to a serious bruise is consecutive trauma in the same spot. Now I don’t recommend you do this, but if you where to hypothetically tie something around you writs, and then tie it to the bed post, and then accidentally forget to untie it, and then in your sleep twist and turn and struggle against it, then the next morning you should have a nice black ring around your writs that is bound to raise a few eyebrows.

This would be lovely except that I'm more likely to snuggle with the rope like a teddy bear. The only way to have it actually mark would be to tie it really tight and risk cutting off circulation...next option please

So not much help to you.:

Not true :) I asked because I wanted to know more about different skin types and how PYL/pyls deal with the pros and cons of each. Any info is valuable info and I thank you for explaining and giving your own skin up to help me understand. Makes me appreciate what I do have going for me all the more. Thank you.

Thank you so much Velvet for this perspective. I absolutely love the ideas of marking with a pen or henna. And if I ever decide to get a tattoo maybe I can start out by seeing what the design looks like with a temporary marking system first. Good to remember as well to enjoy what I do have. While I say now I'd love it if I marked easily perhaps if I actually did mark easily I'd wish for more resiliency lol. The grass is always greener or something like that. Thanks for the ideas tho...I just might run with that :rose:

I don't bruise either, although that doesn't bother me as much as not feeling sore the next day. I miss that! I don't know why it doesn't happen anymore. I just got used to it, I guess.

Fwiw, I've been told the stingy stingies make the nice marks. I actually do mark up easily, but then it fades pretty quickly. Single tails and canes have been good for initial marking.

I was involved with a man last year who turned a lovely bright shade of red very easily, but even before the beatings were done, the color was fading. We spent 10 days straight together at one point and my goal was to send him home with marks that lasted beyond our sessions together. What it took was 3 beatings in 24 hours, each one more intense then the last. The layering of marks on him was delicious and apparently a few lasted 16 days, and were more prominent after he showered. The dressage whip, lightly wrapped around his hips is what did it, and a few on his shoulders/upper back.

In December I met a guy who didn't color with the beating, but by the end of it he was dark red and purple in places. The color didn't last more then a few days.

If you are open to marking pens, perhaps using a surgical marking pen would be the way to go. Once marked, they do not usually come off easily and often require many days/weeks and repeated washing to begin to remove it. I guess it might also depend on which one you use but they are very inexpensive (around $1) and available through most medical supply places.

stingy stingies? haven't heard of them. what are they and what do they look/feel like? What do they do to your skin? And where on the body can they be used?

Lol, faerie. I just made that name up. I was thinking of stingy implements like canes and single tails.

*giggling* well, I didn't see that coming...will definately add to my vocabulary: stingy stingies lol.

this is a ? for both PYLs and pyls...what is the significance of marks for you? For me the idea of having a bruise, it's a reminder, proof that I belong and have been claimed by another. If I actually had any that lasted they would be a reminder of being dominated and might actually help me remember the sequence of what happened while I was floating in subspace.

Do you place different significance on different kinds of marks? For example if you have a tatoo or brand do you view that differently than marks that will heal and fade? And are there any marks that you dislike or try to avoid making or recieving? If so is your dislike related to the actual aesthics of it, embarrassment, having to hide the mark, marking in certain area being dangerous or for another reason altogether? For all the insight thus far :rose:

Very good question.

From early teens I have enjoyed marks. Both on me and on them.
Didn't know what was out there then however. Hickies were the norm.
Liked seeing I had left one.
It was considered "trashy" but I didn't see it as such.
It was like a form of ownership for me.

Tattoos....yes! I enjoy the idea of them. It's rather sad. People won't submit to tattoos from another unless that person had made quite an impact on their lives.
They treat their skin/bodies like sacred temples then put cartoon characters on them.
*shakes head*
Scarring. Branding. Tattoos. The idea is one I'm looking into with interest.
Tattoo origines were begun with a story being told by them. One of your travels, memories, thoughts and expressions.
People are experiences too.
This is how I've set my tattoo themes. Nary color save one on my left arm. All others black or grey scale.

Invisible tattoos being a good possability for submissive privacy & marking.

Branding....how primal. Animalistic. Two different ways to do it. (I've been watching cattle shows for this very purpose)

Either the heat brand that we've all seen. Or the new "cold brand" invlolving liquid nitrogen.
Apparantly it kills the cells leaving a white brand instead of a black one.
Would be ideal for those with olive tones or darker.
*looks at TMS's naturally tanned upper hip thoughtfully*

Marking....it's beautiful. It's a badge of honor. Wear it proudly.

I almost never bruise with play.

It doesn't really matter how intensely we go at it. I get red marks that fade quickly. It's extremely rare for me to have something lasts. It used to bother me. Now, I just enjoy the moment and don't worry about the marks. They're transient anyhow.

That said, I think it has alot to do with the part of the body involved as others have mentioned. If I brush against something with my shin, I'll get a big purple bruise. My butt rarely shows any color.

In the last few years, I've noticed I bruise and mark very easily. About four years ago I carried a bite mark (it didn't even break the skin) for 4-5 weeks before it was completely healed. So any type of 'marking' for me is going to last at least a few weeks.

I can only imagine the frustration of wanting to be marked and having resilient skin:rose: As you said, the grass is always greener! LOL

For me, a mark is the proof of being claimed, of belonging, of ownership. That someone leaves their mark on me as a personal reminder of what happened. It's a very potent thought.

Quite right.
Very posessive. Even if someone asks me to do so "in passing"......I still refuse to do so unless I feel posessive of them.

I will bite you only if I wish to claim you in some way.

I dont do marks and i dont like marks. At least no the visible ones, like on the neck ya know? LOL ;)

I had few from my ex and i felt stupid in my job then. But as for some kind of marks my PYL would do, think i would fukcking deal with those!! :D

I had a bruise from my ex once when he hit me and erm i kinda felt i am gonna beat the shit outta him for that, but that had nuthing to do with BDSM. It was just a man being a dick. lol

Aspirin....NOT a good idea.

Also, if you find you bruise TOO easily, have your iron levels checked. It is one of the main symptoms of iron-deficiency anemia...which can lead to a lot of problems in women especially.

I have always been one to bruise and mark like a peach. Even as a child my grandmother would break out the white vinegar and lemon juice to bleach my bruises and skin to keep it pristinely white. By the by, if you are looking to get rid of a nasty bruise, tape a swab of white vinegar to it for about 20 mins, when you first receive it, and it should go away or not pop up at all.

Back to the topic, sweetie. I am sorry your body doesn't bruise well. Honestly I don't know what to tell you. Carlos can look at me from across the room and mark my skin. Yesterday he bit my face in play and we were shocked to see a bite mark pop up on my face while we were at dinner. The poor waitress must have thought I had been attacked by something. What I'm trying to say is, sometimes it is a good thing that you don't show marks as easily as someone like me. You are healthy and it shows. Be proud of that.

Deep tissue bruises or marks are probably gonna be your best bet. And while you don't always 'see' these marks, you can most definitely feel them till they heal. I'm sure there are more than a number of DOMs here who can point you towards some activities that can offer you some comfort and release.

As for the second part of your question; marks are a symbol of utter trust, faith, and possession. While I would have preferred the mark on my face to have been some place else, I wore it with pride till it faded. As you may know, being permanently marked with his touch and love is, for me, the ultimate sign of faithfulness and commitment. I can't wait until he finally gives me his mark. It feels like I've been waiting my whole life for this.

Yeah this is how I am too. Also I'd much rather not have to try and have to explain a bunch of marks to my doctors. It is just better that I don't mark easily.

Yeah, I didn't want to go that route. Pills are rarely a good idea and I don't want to permanently damage my body or have difficulties with clotting especially given any high impact play. It seems very important that the clotting cascade be working properly in this lifestyle. Hemhorrage would be very very bad.

I really like the reminder aspect. Even if I can feel that my body is sore without there being a bruise or even a scratch I have to go on memory then that it happened. And at least in the biting sense I really have no clue how long it lasted because I was floating somewhere out in the stratosphere. I hadn't thought of it as belonging, but that also resonates in me. Thanks for this perspective Shy :rose:

What a lovely sentiment. The 'in passing' made me smile. Like a driveby

I will definately keep the above information in mind as I explore and move further into this lifestyle. A visceral feeling of being marked would do very well actually as a reminder and as far as feeling taken goes. I really love the feeling of being sore after working out so I imagine feeling deep bruises after scening would be equally lovely. I'm so delighted for you and Carlos, that you finally found each other and realized what had been there all along. I can definately see how such a mark, a claiming, would be extremely powerful for both of you. I can't imagine being in a place where I wanted a lasting mark from one person. Any form of permanent commitment scares the bejesus outta me  Yet I understand how powerful and affirming that could be for another.

As an aside I'm kinda grumpy at my body. Found a bruise on my knee and I don't know what it's from. Probably just bumped into something innocuous. Go figure. I get tied, flogged, bitten, spanked, hot wax dripped on me, scratched, cropped and whacked with a cane and nothing. Then a week later a nice penny-sized purple mark pops up and I have no clue where it came from grrrr. Guess I'll just have to tell the next person to bite my ankles *giggling* or crop my knee caps lol. I could probably also take a cold bath in a tub full of ice cubes before play. Or maybe afterwards. That would probably bring them out too...

Wow Homburg, I have that very cane and I can tell you that Sprinkles really hates it. :) But I agree, that cane can really do it. The thing is I rarely use it
because it is severe.

I like another delrin cane that has 6 thin shafts and when you pull them back and really let them go, they sting like crazy and will leave some good marks. Impact speed has an effect so they will leave marks. I like this one since it is versatile (1 shaft, 3, 5, all give different effects and she doesn't know what it is going to feel like .

What the fuck?

Ignoring that, your skin is pretty tough, FF. Jute usually leaves a mark. While I didn't tie it super-tight, we should've still seen mor emarks than we saw. It could just be a quality of your skin and body. I don't bruise worth a damn either (not a problem for me, of course). Last year I was trail-riding, caught a hazard badly and went over my handlebars. I came down hard enough to fracture a bone in my left forearm (didn't realise it and finished of the trail then rode another after), and even a fractured bone didn't register as enough impact to bruise.

Some people just don't bruise, so look for your marks in other ways. Cell popping has been mentioned, and you could also do heavy abrasion play, as well as play piercings, cuttings, branding, etc. You could work on lateral skin contusions. While I don't bruise, I will make the inside of my thighs look like hell from grabbing the seat horn between them on jumps and such. The stretching of the skin causes marks even in me. Applying pinches, pliers, etc could cause lateral contusions.

If you want marks, and are willing to endure trauma, marks will happen.

ETA: While viv doesn't really bruise, she has. The implement you use has a MAJOR effect on the bruises produced. While I've not seen her bruise to most things, the Black Cane brought some truly impressive bruises out. I'm not surprised that she did not mention it, as it has emotional connotations that we will not get into, but it is worth mentioning.

The Black Cane is a 3/8" diameter (or so) black cane made of delrin plastic. Unbreakable, and can be bent so the ends touch, it is easily the most vicious "toy" in my collection. Just some light test swats on the bottom of my forearm left ugly red welts, and hurt like a motherfucker on fire.
