Singularity

I wish I could say
I will never let you go
But, you are not mine

Watching the inexorable
Progress of time's hands

So the half-bell chimes
Clamouring midnight pending
And it's time for bed

Odd that seventeen
Syllables have ample space
For an artist's brush

Constant amazement

I strive to compete

I am an addict
Counting out my syllables
Avoiding my work
