LSU 28 - Florida 24 (US college football)

So... either...

...LSU is Rev. Foreskin's team

or

...28 - 24 is a football score somehow peculiar enough to warrant an AH post (could be, I have not a clue)

or

...the good Rumple bet the house, the Dodge and the piggybank on that result

Either way: woo!

If Rumps bet on LSU, he probably lost, although I do not know for sure. I suspect LSU was favored by more than four points.

28 to 24 is a pretty ordinary college or pro football score. The Stanford/USC score is not so common, though.

Liar,

The University of Florida is the defending national champion in the sport of American college football, and one of the strongest teams in the sport this year. As Cloudy noted, they were upset at home last weekend but were still highly ranked in the various polls.

LSU (Louisiana State University) went into the game first in the nation in the poll conducted each week by the Associated Press, second in the others.

USC was first in the other two major polls (USA Today and Hariis), and second to LSU in the AP poll.

What made LSU's win special was their trailing at home for most of the game then finally going ahead with 1:09 left. Combine that with USC's loss and it should mean LSU will be the unanimous #1 in all polls this week.

None of that will mean a thing if they are upset, like so many other highly ranked college teams have been, later in the season or go undefeated but fail to win the national title in the post-season championship game between the two top ranked teams.

I did graduate from LSU way back when. But most people in my home state (Louisiana) relate very personally to the school. My father, for example, never spent a day in college, but he loved to follow LSU sports.

Box is right about the betting. LSU was a seven point favorite so anyone who bet on them lost. However, that's no skin off my nose because I don't bet. Gambling is about the only vice that doesn't appeal to me.

Lesson over. :)

Thank you, ma'am. Thank you. Of course, next week they'll probably be upset by Kentucky.

ps: Sarahh, when I lived in Dallas, one of my neighbors was a Kansas grad who played both football and basketball for the school way-way back when. The best player on the basketball deam was a guy named, Dean Smith, who went on to coach North Carolina to national championships. rf

Tennessee beat Georgia today 35 - 14

...and Auburn kicked ass, once again: Auburn 35, Vanderbilt 7

I hear you and agree. The Auburn/LSU game always seems to be a good one. If my Tigers can get by your War Eagles and somehow managed to finish the season unbeaten, they should be a lock for first place going into post-season play unless Cal and/or Ohio State are undefeated. The polls always seem to give an edge to west coash or Big Ten teams.

I think Auburn was way underrated this season...they're surprising a whole lot of folk - in a very good way. :D

Well, Auburn was ranked 18th and 14th in the preseason polls and moved up a bit after beating a good K-State team in the first week of the season. But back-to-back loses to then unranked South Florida and still unranked Mississippi State did 'em in.

They might (IMHO, should) move back up into the ranking after the last two weeks. Even if that doesn't happen, if they beat Arkansas, they should be ranked when they meet LSU.

(note: This reminds me of Saturday nights "talking" sports with Colly. She knew her college football.)

You're right to go, wooooo, Joe. Mississippi has lost some tough games this year such as the six-point setback to Floriday. And while Louisiana Tech isn't going to any bowl this year, two of their losses have been to ranked opponents. And anytime your defense can shut-out an opponent, that's a big deal. By the way, Tech's new head coach is the son of former Un of Georgia head coach, Vince Dooley.

Egads...USC lost, and LSU came back? I was involved with the Rockies and the Diamond Backs as they swept against Phillie and the Cubs, figured USC would swamp Stanford and LSU was so far behind...sighs...

Be interested in seeing the BCS polls for the coming week...

I never went to South Florida, but it is a local school, and several of my techs recieved their degrees there, so I've been listening to all their cheers the last four weeks.

Currently the South Florida Bulls are ranked #6 in the AP, #9 in the Coaches and #10 in the Harris.

Now my alma mater Miss State.....well.....

It's hard to believe South Florida has only been playing football for eleven years. If they finish undefeated a BCS bowl will be waiting. BUT, they have two undefeated teams and nationally ranked Rutgers still on the schedule. And don't despair about your Bulldogs. They're 4-2 and have a good shot at a winning season.

The new college football polls have just been released. The LSU Tigers are #1 in the big three (AP, USA Today, Harris) and received every first place vote except for two coaches who voted for Ohio State in the USA Today poll. Guess I'll keep my Tiger Gal AV up for a few more day. :)

I'll spare you a blow-by-blow and just post the link to the polls for anyone interested. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/polls;_ylt=AmqdmjdQEb5ZxSXT6KBJWBAcvrYF

Maybe LSU and OSU will play in the BCS championship. They both have a tough way to go to get there, though. The last five teams to play OSU are or were ranked in the top 25 by at least one poll and the rest of the season for LSU is just as difficult

I agree, Box. But if LSU, Cal and Ohio State all manage to remain undefeated, odds are the Buckeyes will be the odd man out for a championship game berth. The computers seem to love the PAC-10, which they rank #1 among conferences while the Big-10 is in fifth place just .10 above the ACC.

I see Cal and LSU both lost today. If things go as usual, Ohio State and Boston College will move up to #'s 1 and 2 respectively. They are from the big Ten and the ACC. The possible #3 team is from The Big East, which probably ranks even below the ACC.
