What the hell's going on with that section? It seems that at least 2/3 of those stories are about 'loving wives' cheating on their husbands, putting the onus on the husbands to forgive their wives. Shouldn't there be a 'loving husbands' section for those stories?
When the hell did 'loving wives' = 'cheating wives'???

it's where the lit eds put the stories that feature that premise, even if the writer suggets they go elsewhere.

I like your nickname quite a bit.

this issue has been talked to death, both on this forum & in author's Hangout. Someone did a taxonomy of 5 or 6 varieties of LW stories.

Though personally I prefer the ones where the hubby & wife share adventures, I have always said "Lit has enough categories, don't subdivide further"

Perhaps the issue has been raised before, but it has evidently not been resolved. The central problem remains re: 'loving wives' stories being more often than not about loving husbands to their cheating wives. The category does not reflect the content. Not only is it mislabeling, it also leads to incredibly boring wastes of readers' time as they try to locate stories that:

1) actually feature loving wives,
2) do not feature adultery against husbands.

Come on. A little common sense please.

What lit really needs is keyword categorization instead, then you could have overlapping categories, and I could actually search for "gay AND nonhuman" and that kind of thing.

the 'search' feature is much improved for keyword searching. try it

Not perfect, but a usable workaround is to search for multiple story tags. Doesn't always work of course because you have to guess the tags (i.e. read writers' minds)

What snoopy said, besides at this point changing loving wives to actually have loving wives would piss off the people who read loving wives even more than the stories they demand.

The loving wives readers are pretty weird, they all want a cheating wife, some want to be the guy she's cheating with and win her over the limp dicked husband. Some want to be the limp dicked husband who beats the crap out of her after she gets pregnant and the guy who got her pregnant beats her up, and some want to be the limp dicked husband who helps his wife cheat on him. Of course all of them toss a huge hissy fit if it is not exactly like they want it. It's actually much better to leave the section the way it is and let those fruitcakes have their loving wives.

"The loving wives readers are pretty weird"

I resemble that remark!

And the stories are often clearly tagged and can often be determined within a few paragraphs, yet the weirdo ones still read the.

What I would like to see is the heading changed to Loving Spouses then have some sub headings for Cheating, Sharing and true Loving. But even if that did happen I'd be willing to bet the trolls would still read the sections they hate because apparently that's what gets them off and gives them something to rant about.

Ditto. More accurate labeling (i.e. subcategories) would be a huge improvement. I find it to be a frustrating pain in the ass, with or without anal sex, when my searches of the loving wives category result in piles of cheating wives stories. Not that cheating spouse stories are necessarily bad. Some of them are excellent, but they can get repetitive after a while if the searches output the same stuff over and over again. Better data management is what I'm advocating here.

They are doing that, except well there is a problem, the older stories are not using that system, alot of the loving wives stories are a one story and done writer so they never came back and added tags. Which means that a generic search term in loving wives will return some new stories and all of the old stories.

We already knew that.

As emap says
... there is a problem, the older stories are not using that system ...
I see two technical problems.

First: The software as currently configured does not allow for sub-categories, so there is a major software change needed;

Second: There are some 14,000+ stories which would need recategorising. If it takes an average of five minutes to check each story, decide which new category it should be in, and put it there, then it is about a whole employee-year of effort. I suspect that this is a very optimistic rate of working. The problems also remain of the interim, while some are changed and some are not, and the 50 or so new stories per day which are posted.

instead of complaining about Lit's shortcomings, can't we all just be glad that this terrific site gives us access to thousands of great stories, all free????

Loving Wives has equalled cheating wives for as long as I've been here and i've been here longer than most (though not as long as some). I've always been a fan of the idea that cheating wives or cheating spouses needs its own category.

I also agree with Sir Hugs that Lit has enough categories. But I think that there are categories that should be merged. Just off the top of my head I think gay and lesbian could be one category (sorry if you can't tell between the title and the breif description what gender is involved with homosexual relationships you deserve to be surprised) and Sci-Fi and Non Human (and possibly Mind Control) should be one one section.

Loving Wives, (real loving wives) could mostly get split between Romance, Erotic Couplings and Group Sex (for swingers or other hubbies sharing in the adventure)

Huh a romance section, I'll have to think of something for there one of these decades. ;)
