I am watching "Sleepless in Seattle" right now. No, I don't consider it one of the best love stories., but it does leave me boo-hooing at the end. My favorite scene is when Tom Hanks is describing his moments with his wife to Dr. Marsha, while Meg Ryan is driving in her car listening to him and they both say "Magic" at the same time. sniff...sniff

What is your favorite love story?

One of my all time favorite love stories is: "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte... Something about Heathcliff and Katherine that really gets to me.... maybe it's them wandering the moors together after death. I don't know... gives me goose bumps.

Oops...I forgot to mention my favorite.

This sounds so typical, but Pride and Prejudice has to be up there. After reading it a zillion times, I'm still not bored with it and always look forward to Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy hooking up at the end.

Love Affair with Annette Bening & Warren Beatty, makes me swoon..

Sommersby with Jodie Foster & Richard Gere, makes me bawl..

Simply Irresistible with Sarah Michelle Gellar & Sean Patrick Flannery, makes me dream..

These are just a few of my favorites. :)

Corny, yes. but...

Princess Bride.

As you wish.

And...this shows my age, but it came out while I was a freshman in college. Love Story.

I *love* that book, and I have to say that it's one of my favorite love stories as well. :)

You've Got Mail....

I've got a soft spot for love stories... If that ever gets out IRL, I'm screwed, my image as the big, tough badass will be forever ruined, lol

Have you seen the original movie? If you haven't, you need to run out and rent it right now. Just be sure you have a box of tissue with you.

An Affair To Remember.

While You Were Sleeping.

French Kiss.

The Cutting Edge.

All different but all of them were very good. Have read a few good ones, but they aren't well know love stories.

the kids broke the VCR :(

I think I've seen parts of it, but I know I'd like it :)

Sommersby is a movie like a couple of books I have. I watched it and cried and cried at the end. Then I purchased another ticket, watched it to the point where they were happy and left the theatre.

I hated Love Story. While You Were Sleeping was okay.

I don't think I have a favorite movie that's a great love story. Now books, I could make a list of 100 and still leave a great story out.

My favorites are:

An Affair to Remember (Cary Grant & Debra Kerr)
Sleepless in Seattle
Somewhere in Time
Sommersby

I remember it well, there wasn't a dry eye in the dammed theatre.
And that piano theme was everywhere, now it's in elevators:)

I like the oldies (my age, I guess) but I still like Casablanca, Affair to Remember and Sabrina (the one with Bogart, William Holden and Audrey hepburn - not the remake)

I can't believe I forgot Casablanca & Sabrina, they are also favorites. Guess my age is showing also.

Finally, a man who will admit to having favorite love stories. Be still my heart!

I'm not sure that this qualifies, but it was the first thing that came to mind. The two separate threads of love woven into the story of The Fisher King with Robin Williams, Jeff Bridges and... I forget the women's names.

What's wrong with a guy liking romantic movies? I didn't say I cried at them;)

"Shakespeare in Love "

"The Princess Bride"

"ET" ok, not an actual love story but I am sobbing by the end.

"Sense and Sensibility"

Love stories :

Braveheart : when Mel Gibson's character gives his love the flower she gave him when they were little.

The Last of the Mohicans : The love story between the last mohican & one of the sisters. When they kill him and she sees this and simply jumps off the cliff when she sees him die. Even though they never spoke or anything they knew they loved one another. * sigh*

The notebook ... that is one of my favorite love stories. One of my favorite books.

Do you make fun of the ladies who do cry?

"What's she crying for, it's a war movie, somebody always dies in war movies?!"
