''Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think of the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the twin towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. And if you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion that love actually is all around !''

Sometimes movies have the power to give us hope, put a smile on our faces or just make us feel good. That's what I love about them.
Just had to remind people by this.
Now go back to whatever you were doing but take the time to stop for a second, take a glimpse around, observe and see the love around yourself. :)

I really love that beginning for Love, Actually. The ending doesn't make much sense (all those people HAPPENED to be in that place at the same time..but then this is Richard Curtis) but it's certainly a nice feel-good movie. And Rodrigo Santoro is very sexy (Italian dude that Laura Linney almost had sex with)

Love actually had my husband and I snuggled together sniffling by the end of it*chuckling*

A lovely and true sentiment. Love IS all around :)

Thanks Snoop

loved it.. and you are right snoops.. and today.. i will hunt it down and play with it ;)

movie was great.. im a sucker for the accents.. i think i might have said that in a post some where.. hrm.. LOL
:D

It was a really great movie. I was dragged to see it but wound up actually having a very good time. I ended up liking it more than my wife.

(Plus the girl who plays Hugh Grants assistant (I forget her name)is absolutly adorable ;) )

I loved the young couple who got to know each other while simulating sex on a movie set for camera lighting cues. I thought it a great way to begin a relationship.

I just love ALL of the stories, even about that guy who goes to america (lucky bastard, lol :) )
But my absolute favourite one is about Liam Neeson's character and the kid.
When he's running through the airport - brilliant and touching. Always brings a smile to my face.
Oh and the part with Keira Nightley's chracter as well (when she watches the video or when he visits her to tell her the truth)

My pleasure Snoop :)

I know it was a pretty useless bump but I was there and I thought someone might get a smile out of it :)

If I made one person smile by this then I have accomplished all I could ask for. :)

Random thing about Keira Knightley:

She's playing Elizabeth Bennet in a big-screen adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I think she's a very good casting choice. Now, for Mr Darcy? Colin Firth has set the standard impossibly high, but they chose an unknown. Crosses fingers. They had originally hoped for Orlando Bloom or Jude Law but both were unavailable. And Rosamund Pike (Frost from Die Another Day) is going to play Jane Bennet.

I thought this thread was going to be about Mary Tyler Moore. Oh well. Love Actually was alright, though the Andrew Lincoln character deserved to be soundly beaten for lusting after his friend's new bride. I thought the Colin Furth story arc, as well as the one with Liam Neeson and the boy, were perfectly charming.

Pride and Prejudice

They're doing a big screen adaptation of Pride and Prejudice?

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....

Gone shall be the days of the BBC series...and they'll probably do a crap job, too. Big screen adaptations never do justice to a book, even, or especially, such a classic as P&P. See what they did to Girl with a Pearl Earring? The English Patient? Lord of the Rings? HARRY POTTER? Grrrr.

After this, when someone says Pride and Prejudice, people will always think, oh, stupid 1800s romance comedy, or some such thing.

And no one shall be able to take Colin Firth's place.

Suppose should give it a chance though. Who knows, they might surprise me. Keira Knightley seems Elizabethy enough.
