Lost

PS

My appearance in this thread is like Maggie Grace coming back for the series finale.

To cap my contributions years ago I return to post one last time.

No Mr. Ecko though.

A pity.

And it really is not all a wash. Season 3 Juliet was kinda nasty looking but now that she's got botox and kickboxes in V she's kinda hot.

Juliet > Claire, Kate Penny, Sun (who's actually better looking but doesn't do it for me)

The only chicks who best her are Grace and Mader. Good job Juliet looking good in your 40s.

Oh I do.

I wish the 35 good episodes formed the heart of the series which led to the end.

To me, the ending should have had something to do with the number, the dharma initiative, the other, Jacob, smoke monster, the island, why the losties were there and the losties themselves.

Instead it was pretty much only about the losties and their invidual romances.

It became less of a mystery and more of a love story, I would even go so far as say a total sap fest.

A lot of mystery was built up that was answered very poorly in my opinion.

The show had a great buildup but died imo

This is true ^^ this is all very true. My beau was shouting that they had at least two more seasons in them because he didn't want it to end. Too many unanswered questions, etc.. But it is what it is. We loved the flashback touches via the writers and editors and don't forget Director Jack Bender (looks like a porno director name but that's neither here nor there, heh).

I even pulled out my Jim Morrison sing-song voice earlier tonight with, "This Is The End...."

But that yellow lab dog really got my tears flowing when I promised myself that I wouldn't cry over something so fruitless. Damn dogs...

Good premise like I said.

Seasons 1 and 2 were good, 3 horrible, 4 had some great moments, 5 some good moments.

I gave the writers the benefit of the doubt that there would be a pay off to the drama they built.

Instead it was a love fest with zero emphasis placed on answering questions raised.

I think Lost was cool because of the "WTF" moments like a pilot that gets chewed up and eaten by a mysterious force in the first episode.

.

Agreed; and that's when I ceased watching the show. But, I did watch the finale and agree with many of your sentiments.

I thought the first 12 minutes were awful. The last 15 or so were great.

Please don't hijack. Some people are in a state of mourning. ;)

MM needs it's own dedicated thread, methinks.

You thought the first 12 minutes were awful? Awful? They were the most comical minutes of the entire finale!

Ughhh. That's it, I'm throwing my hands up in the air and then logging the fuck outta here.

You people are so stupid that it ain't even funny.

Just because my opinions don't agree with yours doesn't mean I'm stupid.

The first 12 minutes was like a twitter movie. Full of one liners and a frantic pace. I could sense the writers were just trying to rush conclusions. The pacing was strange. It did not hold my interest.

That's just me.

I loved the ending.

A lot of people do not realize that Lost was never about the science side of things, it was about the people and the story, the science was just used to move the story forward and give depth to the characters.

It was a good way to end and I hope another good TV show like Lost comes along soon.

"The End" just came up on Hulu at 3:03 PST.

It's an hour and 45 minutes!

I've avoided reading any posts on this thread for the last couple of days, so this isn't a reply to anything. I usually don't care about spoilers, but in this case, I felt an urge to avoid them.

So for right now it's a bowl of popcorn and a cube of butter and I'll check in later...

A good idea Byron

Ok, I woke up this morning and while I still think last nights episode was amazing, I can't help but feel disappointed. When they started to reunite people I was really hoping that what that meant was that, in it's own way, what happened at the end of 5 had worked and that some people were going to go on in one universe while some went on in another. Either way it is what it is and I'll go with it.

The ending was a cop out. The writers clearly had a hard time considering a wrap up and went with the most obvious. When you learn about writing, particularly a screenplay or other work that typically involves multiple protagonists and story arcs, you learn about the deus ex machina. This was the mother of all dues ex machina.

You've got two big ones.

1. Aliens
2. Death/Heaven.

They used the latter. Complete with the omni-favorable stain-glass window in the church heralding the six major religions. I was disappointed.

It wasn't bad TV. It was just not the ending I hoped for.

I will wait for your thoughts.

The ending wrapped up the entire season, if not the entire 6 year run, but I wasnt expecting any real answers. Thats up for interpretation. But if you think about it, it did wrap it up, for the most part. Personally, I thought the last season was about Jack coming to terms with his death. So I think Jack was dead through the entirety of season 6, but not the entirety of the series. But that said, I thought it was one of the better season finals every....

I wonder if the guy who created the Sopranos final show was watching?? Now that was a crap final show....

Did they ever reveal exactly what the Island was? Missed the 1st hour but if they didn't reveal what the Island was the whole finale is fucked up in my opinion because the Island is the star and focal point of the show. Not some Dr.

The Island contains the light and thus prevents evil escaping and destroying the world.

So are they in purgatory as I've thought or they going to explain away that whole "the plane was found, no survivors" bit... wait, actually more accurately they probably won't even mention it again.

The producers have also said they are definitely NOT in purgatory or heaven or any kind of afterlife scenario. They said that during the first season.

They'll just say that purgatory is a metaphor for redemption to defuse that.

If they do that it will be akin the last shot of St. Elsewhere, where everything we had seen was just the imagination of an autistic child. I am still totally pissed by that series ending.

All from April and May of 2007.

Who da man?

Technically the afterlife wasn't shown until they used the a bomb on the island. The Island, IMO, existed. Once they used the A-bomb the sideways was purgatory, but the Island was real life. So the flash forwards and flash backs were completely different than the sideways.

I had it covered with them explaining away Purgatory with the redemption angle.

Just disappointed that I was even close to the ending 3 years in advance

It was a bit disappointing. Like all my other theories they proved me wrong. Then this theory, which a lot of people guessed, they didn't even try to stump us. Just threw it out, and said we are done.
