Lost

Could someone please take the time to recap this weeks epsiode for me, I managed to screw up when it came to taping it.
All this season's episodes are available online at abc.com. If you're still using slow-speed internet it may be slow, but on a cable modem, etc. they look fine.

I liked this week's episode, although it wasn't a home run. The ping pong was a fun little "Tales from the Island" as I like to call them. There was some good tension with the Flame, although I did sort of feel that blowing it up at the end was a cheap end around to avoid the Losties using it to their advantage and figuring out too much too quickly.

The flashback wasn't bad, but it didn't really reveal anything new about Sayid we didn't already know. It did seem pretty light as far as its percentage of the episode. I guess it offered him a little redemption for his days of torture.

Oh, and the episode ran about 42 minutes in all. It's amazing how many commercials are on TV.

One of the greatest movies ever. McDowell will forever live on in the memory of droogs everywhere.

So why didn't anyone mention to Locke that there was C-4 in the basement, wired to the foundations? Just a little fyi. Don't hit any buttons, that sort of thing.

Well, when they first came out Sayid and Kate did have a prisoner, and Locke had a gun pointed to his head, so they did have slightly more pressing short term concerns. While we knew it was a bad idea, it wasn't totally unbelievable that Locke would push 7-7 just to see what happened, especially with the computer almost goading him to do it.

Incidently, that's not the most efficient contingency plan. Island is being invaded by hostiles? Just win a game of chess against a solid computer opponent, THEN you can access the emergency functions! Don't have enough time? Oh well.

I found the whole thing with the place blowing up to be pretty unbelievably lame... there are just too many things wrong with it, as others have pointed out:

  • Not a great emergency plan (yeah right, they're being invaded but they'll take the time to win a game of chess against the computer
  • (I don't think mentioned here yet) Why did the guy who ran the place say he never had beat the computer? Surely he knew about the C4... he didn't mind risking the possibility Locke might blow the place up WITH him in it?
  • Why no one, at any other point, ever mentioned the C4.
  • If that was their best chance of communication with the outside world, why didn't they stick around longer and actually try to communicate? Its actually more pressing to go on what could be a futile mission to rescue the Doc rather than try and save everyone?

I used to think John was a really cool character - with a sense of mystery and even shamanism about him... while I LOVE the show I can't say I like the direction he's taken. I understand his background now and why he needs to believe - but after being taken advantage of by his Dad and many others through his life - and like you said after what has happened on the island with the computer and punching keys... well, I think he's just coming across as dumb now.

There is a method to his stupidity... if you remember the video that presented the option it did say that 7-7 was to be used if the hostiles took over. And considering last years season ender maybe that facility is being monitered by someone and it would be shown as being taken over... communications may be down as the system said but perhaps there is a secondary line that would "alert" someone.

Though that isn't logical in the real world I could see it being logical on an illogical show such as Lost.

Whenever presented with the opportunity find out what's going on, interrogate people for some real answers, find a way to get a message off the island, get to the bottom of anything; it's guaranteed that no member of the cast will do so.

The script demands that they all behave in the most illogical manner at all times.

re

Just a meaningless thought, can all the hatches request a pallet drop? Who requested the last one we witnessed, you'd think whoever it was missed out when all the survivors took it all.

So they killed Ms Klugh, I thought she had a deeper role in everything, at least from her other appearances, it seemed.

really....I mean when Jack saw the people who had been taken from the tail section survivors.....I would have had like 30 different questions, asking them to elaborate, etc. You kind of have to suspend disbelief in that regard I guess.......

Thanks :rose:

I found her somewhat compelling. I wasn't happy they killed her. I wasn't happy to see more shit blow up. I think she was also in the cast of Joan Of Arcadia in the police force.

Most of all, why not pick up the cat??? Damn it!! If the man wants redemption help a cat out!

Also poor cows and horse. *grr*

so when the hatch imploded and magnetically drew the metal in, why didn't the VW Van feel the pull?

The van might have been out of range. Might be why it was on its side.

The livestock couldn't be taken, though it would be nice. I'm sure the planefolk could use eggs and churn their own butter.

That Locke. What a maroon.

tonight's episode...

‘Par Avion’
Charlie exhibits peculiar behavior when Claire has an idea that could get everyone rescued; tensions mount between Sayid and Locke as they continue their journey to rescue Jack.

I don't like the writers making Sayid and Locke act that way. I like both of them. Can't they just get along?

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

HOLY CRAP! Didn't see that coming.

We here in Canuckistan get to watch it at 8:00 and there's a shocker coming. Not so much as to on the island as to backstory.

so what was the shocker? I watched it and wasn't shocked at all...what did I miss?

re

I guess we won't be seeing Jack and Claire hooking up any time soon lol

If you missed it, it was revealed that Jack and Claire share the same father. I thought for sure Jack was gonna glance over towards the bushes and smile.

I was so disappointed in tonights episode. I really wanted the russian guys head to blow up. Really, I did.

Well I know a little about the limits the TV censors will/won't allow, I think a guys head exploding would be pushing it.

I bet they try and rescue Jack and he refuses to go at first, until Kate admits having feelings for him. I'm sure it will be drawn out over several episodes.

Did the pulse knock out contact with the outside world? Wouldn't they send help or a repairman to investigate? And what the hell is Locke gonna do with that C4? So many questions.

LOL!

I wondered about that. I couldn't remember exactly what Jack's father had looked like though so I wasn't sure.
