Lost Story

I generally keep a list of my favorite stories so I can go back and reread them then I get the desire. I have miss placed the name and author of one of my favorites and was hoping to find it. I am pretty sure it was by one of the better known authors here.

It was about a guy that learned a language for the military, but instead of assigning him to a place that spoke that language he was assigned to Germany(I think). He became friends with a master sargent. He found a woman to teach him German and fell in love with her. She ended up being a spy. Does any of this sound familiar?

It doesn't sound familiar to me. You could always check over int he Story Suggestions forum. There are some members in there that have a keen knowlege of every story written for Lit.

Also, on a sad note (and I'm not saying that this has happened). Sometimes authors pull their stories from the site for various reasons, include shame of a certain work, rewriting it, or getting a publishing deal with one of the various copmpanies out there. It's a possibility that it has been lost in that manner.
