What the longest time you spent alone...no calls or texts as well? I was thinking of doing it for a week. No phone...just me and my dog and whole lot of autumn color. But i cannot remember the last time I spent that much time purely alone and if i could do it happily.

Um, technically if you're with the dog...

A week. I went up north camping by myself. Peaceful.

I once spent 8 days of my two week vacation at home doing yard work, house work, and -- with the help of a new rechargeable battery station -- "personal work" when needed. I likely sent a few texts during that time or made a couple of calls, but I don't remember them specifically. It was a solitary time for me, just me and my chores.

I get to many visitors...got to get away.

I can't go more than 4 days or so before someone is checking on me if they don't see me anywhere in rl, skype, phone or online. I have a sibling who lives very nearby and they also come and go.

When I broke my leg this place was like grand central station with Byron on skype almost all the time, and people just wandering in and out. If I was asleep, they would chat with Byron, he was pretty amused.

One day someone I had met only once about 9 months before showed up, washed my dishes, cleaned the kitchen, brought food, plastic and paper products then made my bathroom accessible! It was really cool. I had no idea that it was possible that quickly and for free.

When I was a high flyer many years ago, I used to escape to the Scottish Highlands so I could be somewhere alone, where I couldn't be reached, but I would still run into some people like where I was staying, hiking, to get food or something.

Frankly, I think if you have a pet with you, you are not really alone ;)

Five days in the back woods and not a single solitary soul to be seen, the only voices were those from the river and those in my head. Ever hear river voices? It's spooky as hell. After a time alone next to a fast moving river, the noise of the water rushing by begins to sound like a group of people just around the bend talking, but it's just below the limit of intelligibility. I stayed and listened to them for five days. It was strange to come home and talk to people, even after that short time alone.

Comshaw

Maybe a few hours. I've not been alone that often. Being alone is weird.

I am an introvert. I actually like being alone, I like long car trips for that very reason, but I don't get to be alone much.

For a weekend. Stayed at the home of a relative who had passed away. It was quite a distance from town and the Internet was so shit it wasn't worth the bother trying to connect. I didn't mind being alone so much during the day, but it was a tad unnerving at night.

Last year I was moving and spent a month packing, rehabbing the place before I gave it back and trying (without success) to make my next place habitable. I was as close to solitude out there on the bluff as it gets. Hardly anyone around for miles, even still, I am sure I checked in from time to time. I was too busy to respond to anyone but I remember uploading photos for safekeeping of my little plumbing project.

During that month, I probably had short conversations with less than a dozen people. probably never went more than three days at a stretch without some kind of contact though.

24 - 36 hours, back in the time before the internet, occasionally on days off I would lock myself in my flat, disconnect the phone and doorbell and spend the time listening to music, no radio or television. strange how refreshed I would feel after.

The only other time was if I was out in the countryside for a few hours alone, but here it is hard to find total isolation in the wilds.
