My local library system has introduced a slip in the book for 'Reader Reviews'. A recent book I brought home after randomly picking it up has what could be a Lit Anonymous review. "Grammar is awful, the writer must do better."

Sorry. Next time I'll try to leave a positive point as well to balance it out. Perhaps something kind about the high quality binding, or the Bibliography of Unlikely Fantasy Names at the end, with its... no, you know what, fuck it, it was a turd and I'm not going to polish it.

My local library also solicits reviews from readers, but there is no slip involved.

They compile the reviews to identify reader favorites and showcase those books in a special section. I usually have one or more of my books in this section, but I imagine that is influenced by me being a local author who is reasonably well known in the area more than the quality of the writing.

Sort of related, I absolutely adore it when bookstores put little staff reviews on the shelves under the books. There's a shop near me that has a whole row of just staff favorites with hand written reviews under every single one, a couple of paragraphs each
