There's always stuff I wanna know but no place to ask it. Answer one of my question or ask your own.

*this is not the place to tell lame jokes*

To people in the UK: what the fuck is "bumming"? I know what it means here (USA/CA) but I don't think its the same thing there. The way I've heard it being used makes me think that it means anal sex.

edit: That's pretty much it. Thanks FireBrain, you saucy bird.

Yep, that's pretty much what it means. "You two gays spend all day bumming each other!" and the like.

Also, "bumming around" - ie hanging around doing nothing.

Do you think that someone who is a mix between Jim Morrison, Elvis Presley & Ville Valo is too severely awesome to be a realistic movie character?

edit: that much awesomeness would be pretty severe but of course he'll also be kind of a douche to balance it all out.

When you watch a movie with subtitles, do you still have to have the volume up as much as you do when you watch a movie without subtitles?

edit: yes and no

should I buy:
The Jim Morrison Scrapbook by James Henke
or
The Doors by The Doors
or
No One Here Gets Out Alive by Jerry Hopkins? edit: <-----this one, at least for now

edit again: I heard that one is full of Danny Sugarman's propoganda but Robby Krieger said he thought it was good

why? because it's the cheapest of the three?

Because it was the first comprehensive biography written about Jim Morrison and it is a very readable and balanced account of his life and work. I can't recall if Jerry Hopkins knew Morrisson but his co-author Danny Sugarman worked for the Doors and was a friend of Morrisson. The book achieves a good balance between the myth of "The Lizard King" and the real life of James Douglas Morrison. Which is something Oliver Stones movie failed to do. Not to dismiss the other books but No One Here Gets Out Alive is the best place to start.

. . . . Which is something Oliver Stone's movie failed to do . . . . .

I Know, Right!?!

edit: they're coming out with a new Doors doc & Ray Manzarek said that it was the oppsite of the Oliver Stone movie. TG! I'm excited to see it.

Yes, because you're still getting the impression of hearing the characters talk, and the other sounds of the film, even if you have to look at the subtitles to see what they're saying. You can tell a lot of things from the tone of the voice, and there may be other sounds that are important. Also, music can be an important part of the experience of watching the film.

I usually turn it down so I can still get the emphasis of what's happening but not be distracted from reading what they're saying.
