Was going over the rules for sending in a story, found following:

"10 STEPS TO BECOMING A LITEROTICA AUTHOR

2. No sexual activity between underage persons will be considered. For the purposes of this site, the minimum legal age is 18."

this got me a bit put off since im working on a story right now where the lead role is played by a 15 year old girl..

but still i have seen stories here that deal with people younger then 18..

will my story be instantly dissmissed?

Literotica Rules

Your story will not be posted if your character has sex.
Why? Well, for a very good reason. There are certain things that either are against the law, or will draw intense scrutiny from our law enforcement friends. In most jurisdictions to have sex with a fifteen year old is a felony.

There is a voter block that wants the authorities to remove all sites from the web that show or glorify sex. Therefore, it is an easy way for a district attorney to make a name for himself, and get some free publicity by investigating and/or arresting site owners.

For a site like Literotica, a district attorney can cause them to fail just by bringing suit, even if he knows that he will have it dismissed by the court later. The cost of defending a suit, even if you win is $20,000, these days.

I wrote a story about a man that set up his wife to have sex with a dog. I received some very interesting e-mails asking if I had photos, and wanting to know exactly where this occurred.

I wrote several stories about how easy it is to have sex with men, either at parties or in strange cities. I received mail that can only be described as "hate" mail.
One person said "she" ( if in fact she is a she) would break my arm.

In your case, you would be investigated to determine if your story is fiction or your revisit of your past deeds.

It would be a lot easier to change 15 to 18, don't you think?

Then how...

... does Mr. Double's site stay in business? He's
even paying authors now and has a largely "incest/
underage" theme contribution.

Just wondered.

Softly,

That is true. So many people have problem understanding whats fiction and whats real (even if the header of a text file says "purely fiction").

I guess I can change the age 15->18 but a bit of the innocence and first time encounter with sex is less believable... how likely is it that the first exploration of one's gender does not happen until age of 18, not likely.

What ever happened to freedom of speach :(

Freedom Of Speech

Hi all. In the process of working on the board and testing the forums I stumbled upon this fine thread and thought I'd drop in my 2 cents (hope Laurel doesn't get mad.)(Actually, on second thought, I hope she does - ha!)

We don't really see it as a free speech issue because of the fact that there are tons of site, like Double and especially Black Spectre, who will publish anything and everything. We totally and absolutely respect your right to write a story about anything you want and we believe that you should have the right to publish that story. The underage thing is just something that Laurel and I aren't comfortable with for a couple of reasons, so we decided not to publish those stories here.

We are always open to feedback and discussions about the issue and we do listen to all opinions.

Now, I gotta get back to the server before it misses me.

Take care!!!

I hear you! :)

feel bit honored that you both, Laurel and Manu, took the time to respond to my little question.

Literotica is still the best no matter what!

guess another way to not make it into a issue is to omit the age totaly and just let the reader decied on it.

Still a story like "My First Lovers, Mother, Daughter" by Tawny T I dont see the main characters as above 18. I would really hate to see stories like this disapear since this is one of my favourits.. (GOOD job Tawny T)

Quite a few of the incest stories I get the idea that there are characters younger then 18..

I totaly understand why you wane have this rule so dont get me wrong. Well maybe i submit my story and let you be the judge :)

I assume you mean "Speech", but anyways...

What ever happened to freedom of speach

The free speech argument is an easy one here, Semaer. I assume what you are referring to is the free speech clause in the First Amendment to the US Constitution - so we'll just take a quick look at that. It says:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

In it's most basic interpretation, that means that the US Congress cannot make any laws that restrict the freedom of speech. That certainly doesn't apply here.

Even in the broad interpretation that is given to this particular clause today, the only way I could see this affecting what Laurel and Manu do here is if they were accepting a government subsidy of some kind to run Literotica. (If so, please tell me where to apply, LOL)

In no way do they restrict your Freedom of Speech by not posting a story here. If it's that important to you, I can tell you a number of places where you can pick up free web hosting and I could whip up a little html page for ya and you'd have your story available for the entire world in just a few minutes.

And if that's not clear enough for ya, take a look at it this way. Would you go into your local Christian bookstore and tell them they were violating your First Amendment rights for not carrying "Penthouse" or "Playgirl" or "BigUns" on their magazine rack? Somehow I doubt it. And it's no different from what Laurel and Manu do here.

The key to exercising your rights is understanding them. There are a myriad of places on the web where you can access the US Constitution. It might not hurt to read it before spouting off about something you don't really understand.

haha

I had that one coming.

pardon me.

Actually I'm not that well informed about your "freedom of speech".. I'm not an American not even on that continent. So while you are at it please forgive my bad english.

It was no pun intended towards Literotica.

So please roll up your whip again hehe.

You're absolutely right, Kerrie. There's a wonderful thread floating around here from about 3 months or so ago where DCL blasted me for misusing the word "censorship". It's one of the 2 times I've admitted to being wrong on here. If I wasn't so lazy I'd go find it for everyone.
