Little Huntress ~Battle of "Right and Wrong"~

Emily was there... Watching... She wanted to punch him out but this Deagan kicking his ass would have to do. Once another round was over she appeared between them looking first to Reagan.

Sir down and shut up pup... My turn.

Cold eyes then looked to Greg and his wolf.

Noble protector and the wolven advisor. Pathetic... Arrogant little boy running off when she needed you most.

Seeing whst looked like an attempt at a typical Greg protest she growled.

Don't you dare open your mouth. I have been inside the necklace where her lion now has to live after his death. The love OUR Rayna has for shifters is beyond imagination bell she even cares if this arrogant asshat lives or dies but that's another story.

Pointing to Deagan though her eyes still burning daggers through Greg.

The one... Time she tries to open her heart to another shifter. The one time she tries to truly love another mortal you and piano boy fucking abandon her at the same time. He had an excuse he couldn't imagine living forever looking like an 85 yr old man. What was your excuse... Someone in pain and suffering lashed out. People in that hospital have lashed out in pain and you didn't abandon them or the hospital did you?

Looking only briefly to Deagan.

Don't... I don't have the same agreement with your family that Rayna has so be a good boy sit down and SHUT UP!

IC: Gregory Wolf and the Wolf and Deagan

Greg shrugged to the wolf, "Right." Then he raised his fists also. "This time we'll wipe that smug look off your face."

"Tough talk from a whining piece of shit that hasn't landed one punch on me yet," He said that smug face becoming much-too much-smugger, "Bring it on."

They charged him and damn it despite he and the wolf working in tandem all they had to show for it was a black eye and a throbbing pain in his side. Greg staggered to his knees in the snow panting and rubbing at the nasty looking bruise forming over his ribs.

Suddenly Emily appeared in front of him.

He fell back eyes going wide. "Whoah, Em-"

She glared over at Deagan, "Sit down and shut up pup...my turn."

She then turned an arctic glare upon Greg and the wolf, "Noble protector and the wolven advisor. Pathetic... Arrogant little boy running off when she needed you most."

"Wha-Hey..." Greg said defensively, "Rayna was the one who pushed me away. And you know I-"

"Don't you dare open your mouth. I have been inside the necklace where her lion now has to live after his death." She snarled, "The love OUR Rayna has for shifters is beyond imagination bell she even cares if this arrogant asshat lives or dies but that's another story."

The wolf had its ears tucked, head down, and tail between his legs, looking pitifully small which was how Emily's ranting was making him feel.

Deagan crossed his arms glowering at her, "Tell the prom queen she can kick your ass after I'm through with it,"

She pointed a finger at Deagan to silence him. "The one... Time she tries to open her heart to another shifter. The one time she tries to truly love another mortal you and piano boy fucking abandon her at the same time. He had an excuse he couldn't imagine living forever looking like an 85 yr old man. What was your excuse..."

He shook his head, "Like I said...She-"

But the steamroller that Emily was imitating rolled right on over him. "Someone in pain and suffering lashed out. People in that hospital have lashed out in pain and you didn't abandon them or the hospital did you?"

"Maybe I fucked up, but she has Darren who can take care of her. I needed to-" Greg said rising back up to his feet.

"Enough of this dreamhouse Barbie, Deagan said reaching out and taking Greg by the arm and pulling him away from her, "Go haunt somebody who has time to listen to your whiny-assed ranting."

"Don't..." She said pinning with a look that could peirce armor plating, "I don't have the same agreement with your family that Rayna has so be a good boy sit down and SHUT UP!"

Deagan laughed stepping up in front of her arms crossed, "Oh now I kinda want you to try and make me."

IC: Darren Cross and Soren Mendoza

Outside of town was the Ankou hunting ground. To the outside world it was a privately owned nature preserve, but in reality it was owned by the Vampire clan of New England and given to the Ankou as a place of their own to be themselves long ago. But unknown to many there was an old Indian site of rock carvings sacred among shifter tribes of all types. It was there Soren sat crossed legged, eyes closed, palms up, meditating with the spirits.

His eyes opened and he said, "I was preparing myself to negotiate with your commander Vampire. What do you wish of me."

Darren stepped out from the thick of the trees surrounding the carved rock walls. "I wanted to ask you something-well a lot of somethings-"

Soren held out a finger to halt him, "We still have someone else here. It is alright. I came to this place in peace. I seek no confrontation today. You can come out now."

Emily's eyes narrowed and the air around her dropped in temperature drastically as a dark grin played over her lips.

Gladly you arrogant little brat.

Backhanding Deagan with every fiber within her. She still wasn't used to or fully able to control the powers she held in this dreamlike realm as her connection to Greg revealed everything she had seen and dealt with as her rage roared ready to go after Deagan again.

Now Dickless... I mean Deagan... Sit down and Shut up... NOW!

------------
Ishari stepped out.

Elder Soren... The Ankou have never attacked you here or ever Elder.

She nodded to him then to Darren. The strange calm sanity shrouding her mind once more no matter how painful. Soren had always been able to calm the pain of he sane mind that sometimes afflicts her.

The Ankou healer has done all be can for commander... Now sadly it is up to her and the bond with her advisors.

She looks to Darren then moves to sit by Soren a growl balling her up from the pain of sanity.

IC: Gregory Wolf and the Wolf and Deagan

Deagan laughed stepping up in front of her arms crossed, "Oh now I kinda want you to try and make me."

He didn't have much warning. The air temperature suddenly dropped from cold to positively frigid, and a dark and foreboding grin crossed Emily's lips.

"Gladly, you arrogant little brat."

She swung at Deagan then, a solid impact from the back of her hand straight against broad part of his cheek. It came with a rather surprising amount of force bowling him over and sending into a tree trunk several feet behind him. Snow from that tree fell covering him from the impact.

At the same time Greg had a rush of confusing flashes of memories he hadn't experienced. He leaned against the side of a tree shaking his head trying to refocus his brain while the wolf buried its head underneath its paws whimpering.

Deagan was slow to rise to his feet brushing off the snow from his clothes and rubbing the rapidly blackening bruise on the side of his face.

Emily rounded on him, "Now Dickless... I mean Deagan...Sit down and Shut up... NOW!"

Deagan chuckled and nodded past her to Greg, "You see...that's how you hit somebody."

To her he glared back at her, "We don't have time for you, little girl. Go away now."

"Em..." Greg called after her, "I saw enough to know Raina's in some trouble and Darren can't help her, but what do you think I can do for her now...She needs a doctor, I'm only an orderly."

Soren held out a finger to halt him, "We still have someone else here. It is alright. I came to this place in peace. I seek no confrontation today. You can come out now."

Darren turned around when Ishari stepped out from behind another tree saying, "Elder Soren... The Ankou have never attacked you here or ever Elder."

"I'm ashamed that I can not say the same for any Ankou that visits the sacred sites of my tribe's land or anywhere for that matter." Soren replied to that, "Come sit. I believe the Vampire has questions for me."

Darren stepped up looking over to Ishari before sitting across from Soren. "Do you know how Raina is doing?"

"The Ankou healer has done all he can for commander," She replied, "Now sadly it is up to her and the bond with her advisors."

She sat down with a frustrated growl next to him.

Soren nodded to her, "It still hurts you doesn't it, like being too close to the flame?"

Emily screamed her form shaking as she glared through both of them.

Dr... Can't... Help... Her! Needs... Her... Advisors!!!!

She was rippling in and out of sight.

Give me a reason Deagan to end you!!!!

With that she vanished with a scream.

__________

Ishari looked to him.

Darren knows of your aid to the Ankou because Rayna knows... No need for such disdainful displays.

She nodded.

Their experiments so long ago human soldiers... scientists....war... Now... Sanity... Is more pain than combat. Elder Soren had always been a strong help.

Her eyes move to look to Darren. The sane mind and calm about her alien to her normal way. That wisdom however still present in her madness even more present in this place and time.

Yes Darren sanity to me while perhaps a good thing is like a near fatal wounds pain to a mortal. Even the blood hunger does not hurt as bad.

She smiled to him before she fell silent.

"Em..." Greg called after her, "I saw enough to know Raina's in some trouble and Darren can't help her, but what do you think I can do for her now...She needs a doctor, I'm only an orderly."

That was a mistake. She screamed out flickering like a television on the fritz. "Dr... Can't... Help... Her," She roared with a violence that made the earth beneath their feet tremble in fear, "Needs... Her... Advisors!!!!"

Greg reeled back from the fury in her voice. "Calm down Em. before you tear this place apart. I will do what I can but I need to do this first."

Deagan sneered to her, "If you're through with your little bitty tantrum. We have actual work to get back to."

"Give me a reason Deagan," She snarled back, "To end you!!!!"

And then as quickly as she appeared she vanished leaving Greg and the wolf to stand gaping after her. "Maybe I should go see if I can help?"

Deagan wasted no time. He punched Greg right in the face, "Now are you gonna fight me or just stand there with your mouth open worrying like an old lady."

Soren nodded to her, "It still hurts you doesn't it, like being too close to the flame?"

"Their experiments so long ago human soldiers... scientists....war..." Ishari nodded sadly, "Now... Sanity... Is more pain than combat."

"You can let it go now," Soren told her, "It is safe here."

She nodded again, "Elder Soren had always been a strong help."

Darren looked over to her. Ishari was always more insane than any of the other Ankou in his experience. He'd often wondered what it would be like if she was not crazy. He couldn't tell much of a difference though. She looked unchanged, but there was a certain amount of strain reflected in her face and eyes. "Is it really that bad?"

"Yes Darren, sanity to me, while perhaps a good thing, is like a near fatal wounds pain to a mortal." She answered with a wan smile, "Even the blood hunger does not hurt as bad."

"Oh," He said to her with a nod before turning to Soren, "I came to ask you some questions....How has it come to this with vampires and shifters at eachother's throats."

Soren shrugged, "It was not always so. Our two races were once the staunchest of allies, but now...we grew too complacent and self-absorbed and the brotherhood we once cherished withered and died between us."

Emily found herself in a room that looked all like the Jazz bar that started this whole fiasco. Strangely Rayna's ancestor was tending bar and the old man was there too.

Clearly kid you are not fully ready for the Dreamlands. So you will stay here with us until absolutely needed.

Emily snarled but was too weak to argue.

No offense but why are male wolf shifters assholes when they have jobs to do?

It's when they have jobs or truths they can't accept that they get... Defensive.

The ancient vampire chuckled.

The old man laughed from the piano. I wouldn't have let this cancer beat me if she hadn't found the right people like you little miss. Had an old witch tell me I was just to help her open up when the time was right. My place is now on this side making sure my little south islands angel has music when she needs it.

The old vampire nodded.

I do regret also my friend that the mortal world lost you but even I would not cross our old witch friend.

Lifting a glass.

May she never find the need to come to Boston!

_______________
Ishari nodded and sinking into her wolf form the mask of magic she wore to hide all of the scars and damage fell away as well as this oily black and grey wolf lay there by Soren with scars that looked more like an infernal roadmap than simple battle scars. Her mind seemed to answer Darren with her own experience with how unified the two races had been when she first arrived.

Wolves and vampires both helped me. Both were willing to teach me how to understand kindness. Even the one called mother would sing to me when I was young to calm nightmares. The other races could not harm the humans with the vampires and the wolves united. Then those like Soren and Mother's own daughter and strange crimson haired girl and Warin and his followers seemed to sprout and division was sadly the currency of the shadows.

The last of her sane mind fading the wolf chuckled slightly.

Ember say Warin so mean and stupid he probably bleed air.

Soren shrugged, "It was not always so. Our two races were once the staunchest of allies, but now...we grew too complacent and self-absorbed and the brotherhood we once cherished withered and died between us."

"Wolves and vampires both helped me," Ishari added settling into her wolf form, "Both were willing to teach me how to understand kindness. Even the one called mother would sing to me when I was young to calm nightmares."

She laid down between them and before Darren's eyes she shimmered and revealed long-healed over scars from a terrible maiming she'd received many years before. Darren felt for her. Of all the Ankou Ishari was the craziest, but she was the one that Darren liked the most, and the proof of her past pain and suffering was a very sobering sight.

"The days of my youth," Soren said sadly, "Me, my wife, and my baby-girl were happy and at peace then."

"The other races could not harm the humans with the vampires and the wolves united," Ishari explained, "Then those like Soren and Mother's own daughter and strange crimson haired girl and Warin and his followers seemed to sprout and division was sadly the currency of the shadows."

Darren looked to Soren.

"We have not been as good a group of custodians as we should have been," He shrugged sadly, "Warin alone has embraced sowing conflict and discord for the sake of chaos."

Ishari chuckled, "Ember say Warin so mean and stupid he probably bleed air."

Soren laughed at that, "He would. Deny the earth a drop of his blood out of simple spite."

"But how do you do it," Darren asked him, "How do you navigate through all the bullshit and still hold true to those you care for...even when they fall underneath the tidal wave." Like Rayna.

Soren shook his head, "You are asking the wrong person." He then gestured towards Ishari, "Fortunately the one with your answer is right here with us..."

Ishari tilted her head looking to Soren.

I can tell him Jalla's story? Or do I just tell him how I walk among both sides with Soren help?

She had been there even as a young girl for every step of Jalla's sacrifice and the last piece of that puzzle to reconnect the spirit worlds to both sides. Her own story of being a stepping stone in keeping both sides together was less sacrificial but still maybe it could help him as well. She wanted to help Rayna too. Rayna had always been kind to her. She didn't want to see Rayna end up like her.

______________
Emily listened to them but still tried to slip from the bar and go back to helping her friends... Her family. It eventually became very frustrating when every door she opened she was staring at the same bar with them smiling and waving or lifting their classes.

I told you young one you are not leaving here for a while. You need to recuperate.

She snorted and stomped over to the bar and sat down.

Fine.

Soren shook his head, "You are asking the wrong person." He then gestured towards Ishari, "Fortunately the one with your answer is right here with us..."

She looked to him with a cocked head, "I can tell him Jalla's story? Or do I just tell him how I walk among both sides with Soren help?"

Soren hesitated at the question. He hated hearing the story of his daughter...not because of her...never because of her...but because of the many many places he could've interceded for his beautiful little baby girl. Some were circumstances he could not act, others were times where he failed to. He had failed her. Ishari, great spirits bless her, had never understood it. The situation between Jalla and him sat with her like a stubborn and festering thorn in her paw she kept returning to to pull out.

Darren looked between them oblivious to the history being weighed between them.

He sighed deep resigned to go through his greatest regret once more, "Do as you deem best."

What questions does commanders vampire have for Ishari? Rayna do much good for wolves and vampires and Ankou. She use needs of Ankou to try to maintain bridge between vampires and Wolves. Rayna very smart very big heart even with mean sire and accusations of her being evil and crazy. Ishari know crazy Rayna not crazy. Rayna help Jalla save her sons life when he stupidly listen to Warin. Warin try destroy their family many times. Good thing Deagan so boneheaded he not listen to anyone. Thst will change too spirits say Rayna will help grandmother and grandson accept their appointed places between the spirits and the world.

She tilted her head studying Darren for a moment.

Ishari think if you get commander purple roses commander may feel better not so protective of her repeatedly battered heart.

Darren considered for a moment before answering, "I feel like we are reaching a point of no return. If Rayna was in a right state of mind...Do you think she could fix the mess we are in right now?"

"Rayna do much good for wolves and vampires and Ankou," She answered, "She use needs of Ankou to try to maintain bridge between vampires and Wolves. Rayna very smart very big heart even with mean sire and accusations of her being evil and crazy."

Darren looked down at his hands...emotions warring in his heart at her words.

"Ishari know crazy. Rayna not crazy. Rayna help Jalla save her sons life when he stupidly listen to Warin. Warin try destroy their family many times," She continued, "Good thing Deagan so boneheaded. "Ishari think if you get commander purple roses commander may feel better not so protective of her repeatedly battered heart."

He looked at her as if she had just spouted absolute distilled crazy to him. "Roses, seriously? What good will those do?"

Ishari paused listening to his words as if he were suddenly the crazy one.

Commander like purple roses. This not hard concept Darren advisor...

She looked to Soren for aid before snorting the word that her brain was trying to convey the thought of.

Simple... Roses not complex...

She hoped he was understanding her and what she knew would help Rayna. She has enough complex issues her life with her advisors needed to be simple... Easy... Relaxed.

Your sister's choice of methods to manipulate the wolf tastes the air more and more of actual love My vampire. What do you plan to do about this?

She turned sharp looking to the vampire who so freely offered his body to her. "Love"was far too rampant in humans but they did have their uses when corrupted and blinded by "love".

He smiled and nodded.

They will destroy her and if he tries to protect her they will end him as well. Most especially her advisors remember nothing of the ancient races they are weakened by that lack of knowledge and she is in no condition to tell them soon you will be free to reclaim what the vampires and werewolves took from you. The fact that they balanced your brethren proves your brethren and the other ancient races had grown weak but you... You remained true to your place in the world of human vermin . And I will always help you retain and maintain that rule once more my beloved.

Donovan Shrugged nonchalantly, "She knows her role in the plan, if she forgets...steps will be taken." He smiled to her with a nod as he added, "Besides love makes us all puppets and as always you are the one holding the strings."

"The fact that they balanced your brethren proves your brethren and the other ancient races had grown weak but you..." She continued, "You remained true to your place in the world of human vermin . And I will always help you retain and maintain that rule once more my beloved."

He mocked a courteous bow. "Your great plan moves ahead to the final stage...the stage is set. Shall I begin the music now? Your puppets's strings are set. Will we make them dance at last now?"

Her eyes shimmered. She was forcing her mind back to the hellish nightmare of sanity as she stared at him. Muscles tense and shift as Ishari sat there.

Darren... Commanders life is filled with complexity... (Growl)... and manipulation and plots (wincing hiss). Her life... with you... and the others... Needs to be... Simple... Like a simple rose.

She had forced herself into sanity not something she was used to doing and the pain was rending through at almost palpable levels.

7th and Anise drive old building bottom floor. Old man grows them himself. Tell him who they are for... He will know what to do.

-----------------------

She detested that her people and the other elder races had deemed her too mad or too evil to rule that they would so willingly cave to the vampires and werewolves to... Protect the humans. She walked over to him stalking like the murderous creature she was though she would not slaughter the being before her. She was growing used to the vampiric hunger for mating and found it a useful tool to control him with.

You have not already done so Donovan? So your sister and Warin work of their own free will? Well then perhaps you have not won any... Reward then have you?

She would rule over the destruction of the wolves vampires and if need be the rest of her people and the elder races. She might keep him around for entertainment and distraction... It might be fun.

He knew he shouldn't have asked Ishari for help. Darren sighed in frustrated resignation and said, "Where can I get some?"

She growled and Darren grew worried for her. He generally tried to avoid Ishari...she was a total nutjob after all...but there was something clearly going on with her that fell well out of normal for her. If he didn't know any better she seemed to be getting normal.

Ridiculous, of course, Ishari was the furthest one could ever get from normal.

"Darren... Commanders life is filled with complexity... (Growl)... and manipulation and plots (wincing hiss). Her life... with you... and the others... Needs to be... Simple... Like a simple rose."

He paused for the first time seriously considering her suggestion, "Do you really think a rose will work? Where can I find one?"

"7th and Anise drive old building bottom floor. Old man grows them himself," She supplied for him, "Tell him who they are for... He will know what to do."

Soren then laughed, "What are you doing boy. You have your answer." He gestured the path through the woods to the exit of the wildlife preserve. "Get going."

Darren nodded his thanks to both and then hurried on his way. He was not sure if something as simple as giving Rayna a rose would help, but it at least gave him hope that it could be done.

"You have not already done so Donovan? So your sister and Warin work of their own free will," She replied dangerously and Donovan paused. Her moods could be biblical in how bad they could get, "Well then perhaps you have not won any... Reward then have you?"

His mouth was agape. "No! It is mine. You promised me. I have done all that you asked before. Why do you doubt me now...is it that incompetent Warin and Zia...just say the word and they will be dealt with. I knew I should have been more hands on in this. It's too important to leave to patsies."

Ishari looked to Soren and released as best she could that sanity. She had never really willed herself sane like that before and the pain was intense. Once it had passed enough to allow her movement and thought without pain she reverted straight to wolf form and curled up by Soren waiting for the pain to pass and taking calm from his presence.

Will he really understand? And are you sure Deagan can help Greg... He seems the worst choice... Too hot headed and ego driven... So much like his father. Jalla worries about him.

Her mind spoke to Soren

________

She smirked.

My dear vampire I was meaning in the more immediate. I can smell what the humans call lust all over you. Zia will keep the wolves in line with such lust and things and the vampires will be kept chasing their tails sorting out who was infected by which toxin and the little princess will end up needing to be destroyed... Our plans could not be better.

Soren looked to Ishari when she asked him, "Will he really understand? And are you sure Deagan can help Greg..."

"Much rides on young Gregory," He shrugged, "I would not have chosen my grandson to train him, but apparently he has made that choice."

"He seems the worst choice..." She pressed, "Too hot headed and ego driven... So much like his father."

Soren nodded, "Yes, but also very stubborn and hard, which may push Gregory further down the path we wish for him faster than we thought possible. While my grandson is no saint he is an expert at teaching through tough love."

"Jalla worries about him."

He frowned at the mention of his daughter's name such regret summoned by just the mention of a name. "I worry for him too."

Ishari looked at Soren.

I can go get her... No one will see her come here... They never do.

The crazed little wolf grinned before bowling over her old friend spotting a rabbit behind him.

--------
I will rule these vermin infested lands as I should have long ago with you by my side and they will all feel our wrath for casting your family to merely supplying blood dolls and never worthy to be blood dolls and for thinking me to mad to rule.

She grabbed him her own double fangs bared hissing as she licked at his lips. Her scales seeming to glow faintly as she dragged the fangs over his neck followed by the serpent like tongue.

Now what does the future king hunger for... Right now?

He swallowed before telling the truth out loud at last, "To rule by your side as King of all that is yours."

Ishari snorted as the rabbit got away.

I will go get Jalla. You both need to talk. Ankou or not she is your daughter... That is all that should matter at least here. Stop be stubborn old fool. You smarter than that... You help mother teach Ishari certain things not change like Jalla mother love for son.

He shot back, "Then stop picking at an old scab."

"You smarter than that... You help mother teach Ishari certain things not change like Jalla mother love for son." Ishari pressed relentlessly.

He sighed. She would not stop. "The hour grows late. I suppose it is time to head back to town."

Ishari then got up and rushed off and he breathed in relief rising to make his way back to his truck. His meditations here did not bare any fruit with any insight to what he needed to do anyway.

He swallowed before telling the truth out loud at last, "To rule by your side as King of all that is yours."

Senda winked shoving him back as she smiled at his words, "Yes... By my side ruling over them... Yes..."

The wind was knocked out of Donovan for a moment at the force of her action, but he regained himself a heartbeat later, "Yes, your most loyal consort...beloved...and..."

She left him stalking over to peer out the window, "
They stopped me... All because I said they should wipe out any of the younger races who might vote against us."

"They will be shown the error in making that decision," He said brushing off his coat and sleeve, "We will show them together."

Jalla stood there by his truck.

She can be very stubborn... Why did you ever teach her that? Never suspected she would use it against you? We have to talk... You expect everyone to live by the destiny the spirits tell you but you couldn't accept mine. I know it's not normal.for the spirit of the death bear to choose a non bear but it did and you and I both knew that from a young age. Which way is worse... Have in to let the death bear kill me itself and one back as who know what or the way I am? Something good came out of my destiny... My son lived long enough to fulfill his path and bring Deagan into this world. Now... How do we get Deagan to listen to the one person who can tell him the whole story... Rayna... Plus it's not just the wolves growing sick... The vampires are too... I have determined at least three different poisons designed to take them.out... Rayna is the only one that was hit by one of them... It's happening Father... Greg and Deagan have to be ready to accept their tasks... In all of this... I can't fulfill mine duty here for wolves and vampires alike without Deagan and Without Greg being whole and their little family back together we lose the very leader we need to renew our alliance Rayna has no Childers if she has to be destroyed because she feels no reason to return then we all.lose and the ancient one returns.

She hoped her words didn't fall on deaf ears but she was her father's daughter and knew just how stubborn he could be when it came to her destiny vs his feelings of failure.

______________

She turned to face him...

Once the venoms have destroyed the old wolf and the precious princess bring their carcasses to me.

Turning back to the window she let out a cold cruel hiss as she smiled.

They will all pay!

He sighed. She would not stop. "The hour grows late. I suppose it is time to head back to town."

Ishari then got up and rushed off and he breathed in relief rising to make his way back to his truck. His meditations here did not bare any fruit with any insight to what he needed to do anyway.

But there was his daughter. Jalla. His Jalla. His beautiful baby girl. She had somehow made it here and was standing there at his truck.

"She can be very stubborn..." She said about Ishari, "Why did you ever teach her that?"

He shrugged with a chuckle, "I seem to recall Ishari knowing how to be stubborn in her own right long before we ever met her." He came to stand before her.

"Never suspected she would use it against you?"

Ishari was good. She was a safe topic, but in the case it went to more traumatic subjects...he stepped around her and reached for the door handle of his truck.

"We have to talk," Came the words he had dreaded.

"Nothing has changed, dear one," He sighed, "So what more is there to say?"

"You expect everyone to live by the destiny the spirits tell you but you couldn't accept mine," She exclaimed, "I know it's not normal for the spirit of the death bear to choose a non bear but it did and you and I both knew that from a young age. Which way is worse... Have in to let the death bear kill me itself and one back as who know what or the way I am? Something good came out of my destiny..."

"Deagan..." He nodded.

"Something good came out of my destiny... My son lived long enough to fulfill his path and bring Deagan into this world. Now..." She continued, "How do we get Deagan to listen to the one person who can tell him the whole story... Rayna...?"

He shook his head, "We won't. That boy would give Ishari lessons in being stubborn...more like being just plain contrary in every possible way to whatever anyone else says."

"Plus it's not just the wolves growing sick... The vampires are too..."

He paused and looked at her. "Are you certain of this?"

"I have determined at least three different poisons designed to take them out... Rayna is the only one that was hit by one of them..." She told him, "...It's happening Father..."

"I did not foresee this," He mused, "Gregory may not be ready in time for his destiny..."

"Greg and Deagan have to be ready to accept their tasks... In all of this... I can't fulfill my duty here for wolves and vampires alike without Deagan and Without Greg being whole and their little family back together we lose the very leader we need to renew our alliance." She replied, "Rayna has no Childers if she has to be destroyed because she feels no reason to return then we all lose and the ancient one returns."

"I will meet with Rayna tomorrow for negotiation," Soren told her as he opened the door to his truck. Maybe he could get away without delving into the shameful way he had treated his own daughter in the past, "I will gauge what state she is in there."

He got into his truck and reached to put in his keys into the ignition. Maybe he could make his escape before she said another word.

"They will be shown the error in making that decision," He said brushing off his coat and sleeve, "We will show them together."

She turned to face him saying, "Once the venoms have destroyed the old wolf and the precious princess bring their carcasses to me."

Donovan shrugged, "Would've done that anyway. Everyone likes a trophy on their wall."

She had turned back to the window dismissing him with, "they will all pay."

"We will make sure of it," He agreed before turning to leave her, "and they will pay with their lives."

Jalla growled.

Damn it Father this is no time to run away because you feel failure even when you knew when I was born what was to happen. Rayna is out cold her mind and soul The God's knows where... Illnesses striking wolves and vampires alike and you and I for now are the only ones who can do anything about it. So stop being a stubborn fool and let's find a way to fix this... Together... Be the balance Deagan will have to become. No one needs that ancient monster running around not even the old ones.

Jalla gripped the door he always kept his windows down.
_______________

She smiled to him letting a clawed hand rake down his chest. The younger races we're always so easy to manipulate when you mimicked their ideas of intimacy and pleasure... So predictable... It made slowly devouring their essence and souls that much easier.
