Little Huntress ~Battle of "Right and Wrong"~

IC: Darren Cross

He bent down to lift Lalani in his arms, "Come on, Shayda. Help me get her to one of the rooms. Then you can go or stay as you feel you need to."

"For now I will stay," She nodded to him and following him up the stairs, "maybe I can find some herbs to help her."

"We don't really ever get sick and we don't need to flavor our food here. So herbs will be pretty hard to find here," Darren told her as he carried Lalani up to the second floor and turned for the first empty room he could find, "I can get someone to fetch them for you though."

"I have to keep the city safe too though," Shayda objected.

He found a room that was not in use and laid Lalani atop the bed there. She didn't look good.

Vampires don't get sick like this. There were the odd illnesses that occasionally affected them, but that was generally the exception to the rule that vampires do not get sick. Vampires could go for centuries in rain and snow and all the other nasty weather mother nature could throw at them without so much as catching a sniffle. Yet when they do get sick it could easily become biblical in its effect.

As a result a lot of vampires were not germophobes per se, but many were so afraid of getting sick so much that they very well could and would take extreme measures if they thought there might be a 'typhoid mary' within their coven.

That was the real reason why he wanted Lalani taken up to a room rather than in back where word would spread and people would talk and hasty decisions might be asked for. Truth be told he did not think Rayna was in the right frame of mind to be a voice of reason in that climate...the way she was right now...she'd let them convince her to order Lalani exterminated along with anyone else she came in contact with like plague rats.

He touched Lalani's brow. Vampires had lower normal temperatures than humans, but she was burning up. Her symptoms seemed to be getting worse startlingly fast. "This is not looking good at all."

He didn't know what he was doing. Darren was only a nurse. One trained to treat humans not his own kind. There were very very very few people specializing in treating vampires illnesses because everyone knew vampires very very rarely ever get sick.

"I will need to send for some supplies from the other bears... Where is an Ankou they can go for me." Shayda asked, "Perhaps the others could help contain the city issues as well."

That was when Ember came barging in (as usual) offering, "Tell us what you need I will go get it and my pack will aid the police in any way you tell them."

Darren pursed his lips and sighed in resignation. "Hang on Shayda, Ember...I'm more concerned with the situation in here. This- He pointed down to Lalani, "-Can get very very bad...like scare people enough to cause them to take some very extreme measures bad...and the way Rayna is right now...The three of us has to keep this as quiet as possible until we can figure out a treatment for this illness...if its as bad as I think it is, that is."

Ember moved closer to Lalani and sniffing she hissed.

The wolves a pup who bears the same scent...

She looked to Shayda

She merely dropped after eating... Fever spikes but her blood grows colder she does not respond even to assault nor blood loss?

Shayda nodded...

Yeah she was here ad usual for the first feeding with the new blood dolls... Where is the blood peddler or her offspring? She should know that there is a possible issue.

Ember nodded and looking out the door to her mate.

Find the blood peddler or her offspring and bring them here.

IC: Darren Cross

"...The three of us has to keep this as quiet as possible until we can figure out a treatment for this illness...if its as bad as I think it is, that is."

He watched as Ember approached Lalani and took a good whiff of her scent before turning her head to Shayda. "She merely dropped after eating... Fever spikes but her blood grows colder she does not respond even to assault nor blood loss?"

Shayda nodded. "Yeah she was here as usual for the first feeding with the new blood dolls... Where is the blood peddler or her offspring? She should know that there is a possible issue."

A new and frightening thought exploded into Darren's mind as Ember told one of her packmembers to find the vampire in charge of wrangling the blood dolls.

"Rayna is with a blood doll right now," He rushed out of the room heading up the stairs and straight for Rayna's office and the adjoining quarters. If she was in danger of getting whatever Lalani had contracted he'd never forgive himself for not thinking about her sooner.

"Rayna!" He burst through the doors to her bedroom and froze at what he saw.

IC: Gregory Wolf

Gregory was bone tired, but that was par for the course when one worked a double shift in the emergency ward. Now it was finally over and he was heading back to the overnight room to fall facefirst into the marginally comfortable mattress and catch at least a few hours of sleep. He walked down the east corridor towards overnight room. Down here was only the radiology ward, supply rooms, and anesthesiology. At this time of night all three were deserted. It was eerie like a ghost town. So he could be excused for jumping when he turned a corner and ran into Onyx again.

"I thought you done with me," He growled at her irritably. He was too tired to put up with all this werewolf bullshit that had nothing really to do with him again tonight.

She was about to say something smartass in reply when he heard the corridor doors slam open. Greg looked around the corner. At the other end of the corridor twelve men walked through the doors. None of them looked like they belonged roaming the hospital's hallways freely. In fact all of them looked like rejects from the penal system, or big intimidating muscleheads monthly.

Damned patients were going to waste his precious minutes of his time off trying to get them sorted back into the ER section of the hospital. "Hey! You aren't supposed to be in here. You guys lost?"

They didn't say anything but purposely stride down the corridor towards him. The last two closed the Wards double doors and locked them. They glared straight at him every step of the way. Their eyes caught him by surprise. They weren't human...they were golden...and the faces began to stretch and shift, their clothes began to tear as bones extended...and skin underneath grew fur.

Oh, shit, they were Werewolves!

That was when Onyx grabbed him and threw him into one of the radiology ward's rooms.

Rayna

Her head turned at the interruption with a bloody growl. Still joined with her blood doll having ridden wild and hungry she was now moving slower enjoying him she had just licked closed a wound on him but still had the blood on her lips. Her eyes however looked strange... Darker but the no longer active blood vessels were looking ashy white.

Who disturbs me?

~~~~
Onyx
She snarled putting herself between him and the door her own shift now in full growth only now the scar over her back is visible as the fur in clearly brutal marks of scars... The night black fur tinged with a deep crimson.
Warin's goons... Others who want a war that no one will win... Not even Warin... I have seen this path before. They want to destroy the balance by destroying the foretold three that are one...
Barely glancing back...
Don't just stand there get ready to fight boy.
IC: Gregory Wolf
Oh, shit, they were Werewolves!
That was when Onyx grabbed him and threw him into one of the radiology ward's rooms. He landed on his butt skidding over the linoleum tiled floor.
She set herself between him and the door her own transformation to her werewolf form in progress.
"Who are they," He asked her scrambling up to his feet.
She snarled in answer, "Warin's goons..."
"What do they want?"
"Others who want a war that no one will win... Not even Warin... I have seen this path before," She replied, "They want to destroy the balance by destroying the foretold three that are one..."
'Foretold three that are one?' Greg couldn't believe it. They had told him time and again that he was some sort of destined chosen one, but he had refused to accept it. Chosen by destiny; not Gregory Wolf. He was just some guy, the same as anyone else. He wasn't important enough, hadn't figured things out enough, wasn't strong enough to have the balance of the whole fucking world on his shoulders. He couldn't even figure out how much to pay a waitress as a tip at a restaurant, much less how to save the whole fucking world.
It wasn't fair! He didn't want it. He hadn't asked for any of this crazy bullshit.
From the other side of the door he heard the growls of the werewolf assassins and the shaking of the doorknob Onyx had locked. Then it jumped as one of those werewolves threw themselves at it and again and again. The metal of the door's hinges began to buckle under the constant assault. They had moments before that door gave in.
Onyx werewolf form glared at him over her shoulder, "Don't just stand there get ready to fight, boy."
'Fight them...Fuck that."
He reached out and picked up a chair and threw it through the room's window. "There's too many," He told her, "We have to run."
Just then the door gave way and the enemy werewolves glared at Onyx standing between them and Greg. "Let us have the mewling pup, and you will not be harmed bitch."
------------------------X
IC: Darren Cross and Ronin
"Rayna!" He burst through the doors to her bedroom and froze at what he saw.
She turned to glare at him over her shoulder. "Who disturbs me?"
"Rayna?!" She was mounted ontop of the blooddoll. His cock fully ensconced within her tight pussy.
That sight alone was like a dagger driven into his heart. The fact that his blood coating her lips and dripping down over her chin was a twist of that knife.
He couldn't tell her. This coven was a powderkeg and this disease could be a lit match, and Darren was not sure how she'd react. The way she is now...Rayna could make this powderkeg explode in all their faces.He crossed over and placed two fingers on the side of the blooddolls neck.
"He's blacked out." He blurted angrily and glaring into her eyes, "You took it too far. Now get off of him."
Onyx
You want to run and not fight... Fine just remember I can't fight them and protect you if you do and they have to die.
Their pathetic request made her laugh.
Good cause you three are going to die.
With a roar she leaped at the first one she knew his body was already compromised from battering the door claws sinking into both shoulders as she used her weight to bring him to the floor with as much force as she could. She knew the legends of the three far too well. Her mother had seen so much including her daughter's death protecting one of the three. Knowing your own fate gave her a unique outlook on life. At least she would soon be back with her people and her mate. She could not make. Greg fight that was his choice but she also feared that the three be one one was destroyed before it could bring the long awaited unity.
~~~~~~~~
Rayna

She stared at Darren with a snarl watching him check on the blood doll.

He will learn the stamina he needs but my question is why do you disturb me Advisor?

The darkness billowed around her as she stared at him. Deep down buried in the darkness she missed him but she did not acknowledge that fleeting annoyance.

IC: Darren Cross

"He's blacked out." He blurted angrily and glaring into her eyes, "You took it too far. Now get off of him."

"He will learn the stamina he needs," She replied casually like she hadn't taken this beyond a quick bite and fuck and should have known it, "But my question is why do you disturb me Advisor?"

He couldn't tell her the truth. Right now he didn't know this woman with darkness swirling about her. Darren looked down at the blood doll lying on the chaise unconscious from his blood loss.

He swallowed and looked her in the eye, "I couldn't bare the thought of anyone being with you other than me."

There. The lie...well perhaps half-truth...would serve to justify his actions and give him enough time to get on top of this situation and to figure out whether the blood doll was infected with anything.

---------------------------X

IC: Gregory Wolf

He reached out and picked up a chair and threw it through the room's window. "There's too many," He told her, "We have to run."

"You want to run and not fight..." She snorted, "Fine just remember I can't fight them and protect you if you do and they have to die."

Just then the door gave way and the enemy werewolves glared at Onyx standing between them and Greg. "Let us have the mewling pup, and you will not be harmed bitch."

Greg looked back to Onyx as they said that, and a small part of him wondered if she was actually going to let them take him.

Then she laughed at them, "Good cause you three are going to die."

She then tore into the lot of them. Three? There were more than three in the hallway before. Then the sound of glass breaking from outside made Greg glance out and he saw another werewolf climb out of the window in the room next to theirs and start clawing along the side of the building towards their window.

Well, so much for escape.

He turned back to see Onyx ferociously fighting one on three to protect him. He swallowed past a lump growing in his throat. Well if you can't choose flight that left only fight, right?

He grabbed a fire extinguisher from the wall and when the werewolf stuck his snout into the window swung it hard enough into it to make a big dent in the side of it.

The werewolf rocked back from the impact but didn't fall off the side of the building. Greg tried to hit him again but he caught it in one huge hand. So Greg pointed the nozzle at its face and blew a blast of CO2 right into its eyes. Howling the werewolf wrenched the fire extinguisher out of his hands and cast it to the hospital grounds thirty feet below.

Greg stepped back trying to find something to use as another weapon while the Werewolf wiped at his eyes to glare murderously at him.

So what was he supposed to do if he couldn't run and he sucked at fighting?

Onyx roared as she was lucky enough to have the upper hand on the one but his buddies took advantage of that fact too as claws found their mark from a double attack. A second roar as she left the other body and backed up seeing Greg just standing there.

Shift or die you sorry excuse for a prophecy and FIGHT!!!!

She grabbed one of them seeming to throw him off guard long enough to make and him an effective weapon against the one coming through the window. The last through the door made a leap for the distracted Onyx landing on her much like she had on his dead brethren.

Rayna laughed stepping away from the blood doll and extended a bloody hand to Darren to trace along his cheek.

And here I thought you wanted no part of our true world Darren. Has that changed over jealousy now? Now why have you really disturbed me Darren?

She glared at him intently.

You are easier to read than morning paper.

Crossing her arms she did not cover up as she waited for an answer.

IC: Gregory Wolf

Greg stepped back trying to find something to use as another weapon while the Werewolf wiped at his eyes to glare murderously at him.

So what was he supposed to do if he couldn't run and he sucked at fighting?

He looked back to Onyx to see if she could help him, but saw she was still fending off two more of them at the door. She roared as two of them gouged great scratches up her back and side.

"Shift or die you sorry excuse for a prophecy and FIGHT!!!!" She howled to him grabbing one and throwing it into the werewolf climbing in through the window. They fell to the ground below from over thirty feet high in the air.

He shook his head, "But I don't know how." That wasn't entirely the truth though. Was he ignorant or simply just too scared to lose himself.

Then the other werewolf she had fending off launched himself tackling her to the ground.

"Onyx," He cried grabbing a chair without thinking and charging her holding it in front of him like a lion tamer for the werewolf atop her, "Get off of her now."

------------------------X

IC: Darren Cross

He swallowed and looked her in the eye, "I couldn't bare the thought of anyone being with you other than me."

There. The lie...well perhaps half-truth...would serve to justify his actions and give him enough time to get on top of this situation and to figure out whether the blood doll was infected with anything.

She laughed reaching out to him with her hand covered in the blood doll's blood wiping a line of it across his cheek. "And here I thought you wanted no part of our true world Darren. Has that changed over jealousy now?"

"Yeah, but you know; there's only one world: theirs and ours. It's all the same thing. We are the only ones who make the differentiation and partitions to it." He replied wiping the blood off with his sleeve. That was good. He could get it tested and make certain his worst fear was not true now.

"Now why have you really disturbed me Darren," She pressed eyes boring into him like a drill.

He shook his head taking a step away from her. "As we agreed: it's just simple stupid jealousy...." He spread his arms wide for her, "Come on, I can be all the man you need, Rayna." That wouldn't win him any Oscars but it was better than telling her the truth.

She scoffed at that, "You are easier to read than the morning paper." She crossed her arms not bothering to cover up her nudity and waited for him to tell her the truth.

Tough. That wasn't going to happen. Not when he worried that she was endangered, and especially not when he was uncertain of whether or not she could be trusted.

He gave her a smile that was barely skin deep. "What do you say? Let's get you cleaned up and then let's get out of here...how about dinner and a movie?"

A swift swipe of the massive clawed hand as the werewolf roared at him.

Careful whelp... Children like you should really learn their place... Just like outsiders.

With that he raised up a little and brought his other clawed hand over Onyx neck and collarbone. She roared out and tried to throw him off of her roaring out again...

SHIFT NOW!!!

~~~~~
A brow raised at him.
Why should I fall for the deception... You want no part of the world you were given by my brother. A gift that is not granted without a very good reason yet you want me to fall into your world... Pool night with a mutt and enduring the constant prattling on of an over active hyper ghost. I have factions to keep in line and a city of mortals to keep in the dark and wolves to keep humored and worlds to keep balanced.
Shrugging she walked to her wardrobe and opening the doors and sighed staring at the clothes there. Finding a black and red dress and heels she made her way to clean up the blood.
I will decide what I wish to do later. You are dismissed.
IC: Darren Cross
He gave her a smile that was barely skin deep. "What do you say? Let's get you cleaned up and then let's get out of here...how about dinner and a movie?"
"Why should I fall for the deception..." She said with a raised skeptical eyebrow, "You want no part of the world you were given by my brother. A gift that is not granted without a very good reason."
Darren's face twisted in dismissal at that. "Bishop's reason for turning me was that he was lonely and wanted a son to take up after him. But he wasn't interested in what I wanted nor was he very interested in putting in the hard work of being a genuine father figure to me. He expected me to learn all he wanted me to learn in a week and be grateful to him for it. He...he..." He shook his head and shrugged, "...forget it...So do you want to go back to that bar we met you in, maybe finish that game of pool..."
"Pool night with a mutt and enduring the constant prattling on of an over active hyper ghost," She scoffed, "I have factions to keep in line and a city of mortals to keep in the dark and wolves to keep humored and worlds to keep balanced."
"But you don't have to carry the burden alone, Rayna." He opened his arms for her to come to him, but Darren watched her instead of doing that walk away to her wardrobe.
"I will decide what I wish to do later," She said as she chose a dress and walked over towards the suite's bathroom. He heard water running. At least she was washing off the blood doll's blood.
"You are dismissed." Came her voice from the bathroom.
Darren stood there not knowing the woman in the room anymore. He felt very very alone in the world. If she was so determined to push them all away, why was he even bothering? The woman he had fell in love with was gone.
He leaned down and lifted the blood doll in his arms turning to leave her.
---------------------X
IC: Gregory Wolf and the Wolf
"Onyx," He cried grabbing a chair without thinking and charging her holding it in front of him like a lion tamer for the werewolf atop her, "Get off of her now."
"Careful whelp... Children like you should really learn their place..." He swiped the chair from Greg's hands and it clattered in pieces onto the floor, "...Just like outsiders."
He raised up and brought that same paw with the long wicked looking claws sweeping down to Onyx's neck and shoulder making her roar out loud in pain screaming, "SHIFT NOW!!!"
Within the snowy pine forest of Greg's dreams the Wolf was frantic. It paced before the mirror barking insistently. In the mirror it could see the nice wolf in danger and it reared up pressing against the glass trying desperately to push its way through to her.
Greg fell to his knees crying from the pain. His eyes were turning bones were starting to stretch and shift and he fought it...he fought it like his life depended on it purely upon the fearful instinct of a man out of his depth. It was happening. He couldn't stop it. He was changing and it wasn't going to be stopped, but he fought it slowing it down to snail's space.
As she was preparing to bathe a voice spoke up behind her.
This darkness is not you... Just like it was never me either. We are unique in our family line Rayna... Never forget that... You are truly like me.
Get out...
Rayna hissed glaring at him.
They don't want the gifts they were given and one worthy refused it...
Yes I did my South Seas angel but that don't give you place to toss them out like that. Yeah your wolf is a boneheaded kid... Just like I was and darn near every man on this planet.
She stood there tears of pure blood falling as she saw him. A hand reaching out surprisingly was able to touch him as if he were truly there.
She shouldn't be able to do that should she...
No let's round them up... Now. Rayna be careful.
With that both ghosts were gone and she was left there the breaks in the darkness beginning to show as she wiped away the tears.
~~~~~~~
Onyx managed to block part of the attack the claws sank in but did not slice through their intended target but through her arm instead as she roared out once more. She had to take her eyes off Greg and continue fighting but someone else was there with them in front of Greg.

You need to get mad boy... And I am willing to be that target. You would still be by Rayna's side if I had just let her cross me over. Stubborn pride just like you though made me tell her no and die right there in her arms... Get mad son get mad at me... Come on wolf boy get mad you gotta help this girl or lose her too... You wanna lose two women for the sake of stubborn pride... GET MAD BOY!!!

As the old mans ghost yelled the wolves attacking them seemed to freeze for a moment. Such violent rage from the other side of the veil shuddered them to the core.

IC: Darren Cross

"You are dismissed." Came her voice from the bathroom.

Darren stood there not knowing the woman in the room anymore. He felt very very alone in the world. If she was so determined to push them all away, why was he even bothering? The woman he had fell in love with was gone.

He leaned down and lifted the blood doll in his arms turning to leave her.

Heartbroken he carried the blood doll out of the room. What did he do now? He didn't know. He hated this job when it meant working for Bishop, and it took decades for him to get out of it then. Now he had thought he could go back in. Follow orders, clean up the messes, tread without noticing the people he walked upon. He had believed that working alongside Rayna would've been different, that they would change things. He hadn't thought it would change her, but it had and Darren didn't know what he was doing now without the Rayna he had believed in.

Maybe Greg was right. Maybe he should just keep walking straight out of here. It was what Rayna apparently wanted after all...

He saw Ember coming up the hall. No, there was still so much that needed to be done. Rayna, despite herself, needed to be protected.

"We need to check this blood doll for any contagions," He whispered to her quietly.

Greg fell to his knees crying from the pain. His eyes were turning bones were starting to stretch and shift and he fought it...he fought it like his life depended on it purely upon the fearful instinct of a man out of his depth. It was happening. He couldn't stop it. He was changing and it wasn't going to be stopped, but he fought it slowing it down to snail's space.

There were others here now ghosts but no Emily. These were people he didn't know, didn't trust? Not for something as important as this. They didn't know him. They didn't care about him. They told him to get mad, but that was easy. He was furious. At Rayna, Darren, Onyx, but most of all at himself.

He was a monument of rage, a lifetime of pains and regrets built a fortress-no a cell-all that anger frightened him. Fear was the thing that held him still.

------------------------X

IC: Deagan

Boston traffic was legendary, for its ability to stop you when you needed to get somewhere fast. So here a block away from the pissant pupling's hospital. He pulled his truck to one side in front of an Adidas store. He and the four other of his most trusted packmates jumped out and began to run down the sidewalks.

He didn't give a fuck about the pussy-boy, Gregory Wolf. But his grandfather had given the job of his protection to Onyx, and that Deagan cared about-deeply.

A block away. It may as well be five hundred away when the only woman he would ever loved was in danger. The fact that she didn't return his feelings didn't matter. He loved Onyx since the moment he met her and until the day he died anyway.

A block away or five hundred he would get there in time. He would save her or...the alternative was just unthinkable.

"Fucking move," He roared to his men as he embraced his wolf just enough to turn his eyes and give him twice the speed. One block or five hundred. He would get there in time.

The old musician stood there.

Fear gets folks killed boy... I can't keep giving them pause. Trust me... You can do this boy... Just think about all the love you have for our Rayna... Let it fuel you to fight and help that wolf there.

~~~~~~~~
Onyx
Feeling the chill of the angered veil Onyx almost seemed to take strength from it as she managed to throw the one that had ripped her shoulder wide open. She slowly stood up and looked to Greg and took a swing go slap him and help make him angry to make him stop fighting the shift.
~~~~~~~

Ember nodded taking the body she sniffed the blood and snarled...

Strange smell... Not like the blood doll that Lalani drank from though... This smells burnt... Strange.

~~~~~~
Rayna hissed suddenly feeling ill and sank to the floor against the wall.
IC: Darren Cross
"We need to check this blood doll for any contagions," He whispered to her quietly.
"Strange smell..." She said with a nod of her head.
Darren nodded in turn. As a Vampire he had a powerful sense of smell but Ember had one more than twice as acute than that. "Could he be contaminated like the blood doll Lalani drank from?"
"Not like the blood doll that Lalani drank from though..." She shook her head, "This smells burnt... Strange."
"We have to be sure," His voice lowered and he waited for someone to pass by them down the hall before continuing in a whisper, "If there's any chance Rayna's been infected we need to know before its too late."
IC: Gregory Wolf
The pain was mounting drowning out the words of the two nosy busy-body ghosts bellowing at him. Blood was rushing in his ears, bones extended, and organs were trying to shift positions within himself. He fought it by instinct and fear. It was a losing battle of course. It was agonizing torture just to slow it down but he fought on doggedly
Onyx heaved throwing the werewolf atop her off and loomed over Greg. He looked up into her eyes, inhuman, yet feeling so much like she saw into him.
"I can't stop it," He told her in desperation, "Help me."
Then she swung her huge paw smacking upside the head and making the world blur in his vision. He rolled colliding into a nearby desk shaken.
Ember just shrugged.
I will deal with Commander you deal with blood doll. Have rest of pack smell blood of all of the blood dolls test them.
Ember then walked into Rayna's chambers and pinning the commander to the wall she investigated her blood and mental state.
Onyx then roared out as her distraction of Greg cost her missing an attack as she collapsed in front of him dying. She growled out
Fight... For... Her...
"We have to be sure," His voice lowered and he waited for someone to pass by them down the hall before continuing in a whisper, "If there's any chance Rayna's been infected we need to know before its too late."
Typically Ember only shrugged off his concerns, "I will deal with Commander. You deal with blood doll."
Darren hefted the boy in his arms. "We just have to be careful to keep this quiet. The last thing we need is a panic."
Again she shrugged off his concerns. "Have rest of pack smell blood of all of the blood dolls test them."
"Seeing your people sniffing around the blood dolls...That's a sure way to get people to notice and ask questions." He growled at her but nodded his head, "But I'll tell them, but only because I can't think of a better alternative. Maybe your pack can do it quietly."
"I can't stop it," He told her in desperation, "Help me."
Then she swung her huge paw smacking upside the head and making the world blur in his vision. He rolled colliding into a nearby desk shaken.
She loomed up over him growling down at him.
His eyes widened as one of the werewolves came up behind her. "Look out!"
But he was too late. Onyx was distracted with him and the Werewolf swung its clawed hand striking her in the side of the neck gouging a terrible rent in her throat. She collapsed onto the floor before him.
No. No. No! Greg couldn't believe it. He rushed to her, but she lay there blood gushing out with every breath. "Onyx!"
The Werewolf that had killed her glowered down at him. "She's joining the spirits pup. You will join her with them too."
"Fight... For... Her..."
Greg glanced down at her. She was still alive, but fading fast. She needed a doctor now.
Damn it. This was all his fault. If he hadn't been such a stubborn idiot and a stupid coward he could have helped her, but he hadn't. He'd been afraid. He'd been afraid for a very long time, and Onyx was going to pay the price for it.
It wasn't fair. She shouldn't have to die for his foolishness. It just wasn't fair.
He trembled now in anger not fear at the werewolves in front of them, but even more so at himself. He was so useless. He couldn't protect Onyx. He couldn't protect Rayna.
It was then he let it go. The change came upon him and he didn't try to fight it this time. Instead Greg embraced it.
IC: Deagan
When he entered the wing of the hospital that they were in he was already changing without breaking stride his packmates joining their wolves along with him.
His Lycan nose had caught Onyx's scent, and the scent of her blood. He collapsed to all fours and bounded down the hallways at four times the speed he could run unchanged.
He wasn't far now. He had to hope Onyx could hang on. The alternative was just fucking unthinkable. He would get there in time, he had to, and when he did. Those mother fuckers would pay for attacking the woman he loved, he'd make sure of it.
Ember
She nodded...
They will be careful in their hunting.
Turning as another of her pack walked in.
Wolves fighting wolves within the hospital commander's advisors call work.
She nodded.
To observe only step in if they can not handle it themselves.
~~~~~~~~~~

Onyx eyes tried to focus seeing him shift before fading as she whispered.

Backup for you is near.

"Seeing your people sniffing around the blood dolls...That's a sure way to get people to notice and ask questions." He growled at her but nodded his head, "But I'll tell them, but only because I can't think of a better alternative. Maybe your pack can do it quietly."

"They will be careful in their hunting," Ember said with a nod of her head.

Then another of her packmates hurried up to her. Darren didn't recognize him but he said, "What now?"

"Wolves fighting wolves within the hospital commander's advisors call work." Ember's subordinate stated.

Ember nodded again saying, "To observe only. Step in if they can not handle it themselves."

Darren was struck. Why would werewolves be attacking the hospital...unless..."They have to be going after....Greg!"

He looked down at Rayna's blood doll then up towards the steps down. Should he go there and see if he could help his friend or stay and see if he could help the woman he loved? He didn't know. He stood there completely torn.

IC: Gregory Wolf and The Wolf in one

He trembled now in anger not fear at the werewolves in front of them, but even more so at himself. He was so useless. He couldn't protect Onyx. He couldn't protect Rayna.

It was then he let it go. The change came upon him and he didn't try to fight it this time. Instead Greg embraced it.

The Mirror in the sacred forest within Greg the Wolf throwing itself against, scratching, and clawing at the barrier finally cracked and shattered for it. Now the Wolf was free to move into the waking world of reality.

"Backup for you is near," He heard Onyx's words frighteningly soft and breathless.

His body didn't stretch piece by piece this time it flowed from man to wolf and likewise in mind. The two halves of Gregory Wolf became whole at last. He was complete and entirely pissed off. Growling he lunged at the werewolf with Onyx's blood. He bit at him but he stepped away smacking Greg/Wolf down to the side of a desk.

"Little Pup wants a fight," He chortled derisively and his comrades joined in laughing as Greg/Wolf got back on his feet growling at them.

Jalla looked to Darren.

Commander needs you both. But... Pup needs to learn. Observe if you go just like the others if he needs help then step in.

Jala picked up the blood doll from him and nodded.

You should get cleaned up either way advisor.

"I am needed here," He told her looking down at the comatose blood doll in his arms, "Besides I wouldn't know what to do if I did go over there."

"Observe if you go just like the others if he needs help then step in."

Darren nodded to that, "Sound advice, Jalla. You've always been the sensible one of your pack here..."

He took a stumble trying to regain balance nearly dropping the blood doll.

Jalla took him off of Darren's hands and hefted the blood doll in her own arms. "You should get cleaned up either way advisor."

"Sure thing," He told her smiling to her before asking, "This may be innapropriate...but you went through a lot when you became Ankou with your relationship with Soren blowing up...how did you get over that?"

IC: Deagan and Gregory Wolf

Deagan approached the door where Onyx's scent led him his packmates loping fast behind him. He had to get there in time. If anything happened to her he'd never forgive himself for not getting to her in time. He just had to save her.

When he came to the door another werewolf was thrown through it. The wolf wasn't Onyx. One whiff of his scent told him it was the worthless pussy he'd punched in the nose earlier that day.

Gregory shakily raised up to his knees. He'd always been more of a lover than a fighter. He had relied on the fact that he was a big scary werewolf and just charged at his attackers trying to claw and bite whatever he could get close to, but they weren't scared or very impressed with him. Frankly despite being a big scary werewolf he was getting his ass royally kicked. They were playing with him like bullies did to the smaller and weaker kids on the playground before really laying into him.

Other werewolves were running up to them. Terrific! Just what he needed; more of the assholes to kick the shit out of him joining in. He staggered to his feet shaking his head and swaying off balance. Part of him that was still a medical minded person recognized the symptoms of having a concussion, and he was pretty sure the pain in his side was a broken rib or two.

But the Asshole werewolf that killed Onyx growled at the newcomer instead. "Fuck off, Deagan. The Pup is ours."

The new werewolf growled back at him, "I can smell her blood on you, Fucker. Where is Onyx?"

Greg leaned against the wall panting clutching his injured side. Fuck, It hurts so much to just breathe. The big werewolf that had killed Onyx was one tough bastard...he was lucky to still be alive. "He...killed her...Onyx is dead."

The newcomer charged then the pack behind right along with him.

As they fought Greg staggered back to the floor someone else was coming. "Who...are you?"

Jalla shook her head.

My becoming Ankou to save my willful and stubborn son. Father did not like the fact that the ancestors and spirits chose me to be the one to be the one to become the death bears child... voice... follower whatever you wish to call it. He had lost mother just a year before and my brother the year before that and suddenly they were taking me to he felt. He hated that I knew and accepted my path so willingly. Yet I know he was also proud that I did not fight it. Heart... Pride... Loss... Honor... Destiny... They are powerful things and also why I think father is so sure of himself with the pup Greg... He sees himself in that fight and knows Greg will fare better than he did.

She smiled.

I had to save my son so he could father that arrogant whelp Deagan to become the child... Voice... Follower of the Spirit bear so that our family line can fulfill our place among the races. I suspect Deagan and Greg are in a way preparing father for dealing with the other.

She laughed and whispered.

Worry not though father and I are still family and are still close in our own time and way.

With that she turned and carried the blood doll to a room to be tended to.

Ishari had shadowed Greg remaining well hidden till needed. Then the cowards appeared and something within her darkened with a near audible click in her mind as a cold sanity washed over her. Two people had ever seen her like this and lived... Rayna... and Soren. She made her way climbing arm rail to arm rail up the nearest fire escape stairs in the building shifted to her half and half form. All the noise they would not hear the door rend free from the wall as she stalked her way towards the fray. She looked to Greg as he spoke and... Smiled.

Introductions after we destroy them pup.

She moved to help him up that cold calm sanity almost palpable around her as she turned and roared with the sound of death itself howling with her.

"Sure thing," He told her smiling to her before asking, "This may be innapropriate...but you went through a lot when you became Ankou with your relationship with Soren blowing up...how did you get over that?"

He nodded of course as she answered. Darren had heard the tale before, but never from the woman at the heart of it. It was enlightening, and he liked Jalla. In his opinion she was the most level-headed of all the Ankou.

"Worry not though father and I are still family," She said in a softly whispered laugh, "And are still close in our own time and way."

With that she turned to deposit the unconscious blood doll on a bed in one of the rooms.

"So, I guess you don't know what its like to have someone you love to be against you." He turned to leave her then.

IC: Gregory Wolf

"W-who are you?"

Gregory had smelled that scent before, but maybe it was the concuscion but he couldn't place whose it was.

"Introductions after we destroy them pup."

Unsteadily he rose to his feet lowering his ears in shame, "But I suck at this...I'm useless...I can't even touch them."

Jalla moved to walk with Darren.

She is not against you... Rayna is angry... She is hurting... Deep down she knows that mother has tossed her into a position where grieving such loss is non existent. She has a city to run factions beyond what you know to keep happy hidden or in line. She has to be cold and distant and love at the same time. She fears losing you and the pup just as she lost the piano mortal. What better way to prevent having to grieve than to push those away who you would grieve the loss of.

She paused a moment.
Talk to Soren I am sure he can help.

---------------

She glanced back as she planted one of the opposing wolves to the wall.

Now is as good a time as any to learn pup.

With that she ripped the arm that sought to bury its claws into her then tossed the injured wolf to Greg to finish off.

Ishari was calm... Sane... And deadly as she attacked any that tried to escape Deagan and his crew. Her primary job seemed to be to finish off any who escaped. The calm may or may not last she never knew but Commander's pup was in danger and that no matter how annoying she would protect him.
