Little Huntress ~Battle of "Right and Wrong"~

Rayna grabbed his arm and then as they passed him her hand vice gripped around Darrens arm as well.

We all WILL talk... NOW.

Her voice carried none of the calm sweet innocent that they both had seen and heard before. This tone this mentality could back down even the most hardened of beings.

To take them out of their comfort zone and force them to focus on her and what she said she lead them to her apartment. A very cold deadly glance to her neighbors on either side of her made them quickly take off to their cars and leave for a while. Unlocking the door and pushing them both through she looked to Emily. You are free to join us.

Once in side she looked to them both...

Sit down.... This will get settled because I am beyond sick of the snipes and attitude and crap... Darren you are about to learn something about me not even Bishop knows but that will be later...

I will NOT chose one over the other... and if you two keep up the ego and attitude problems I am GONE got it! Darren there are things that only you and I can understand being vampires but there are things too that I can only get from a were. I know as I was married to one. It was a long time ago... I married a were feline actually... some of the happiest time in my existence. Since then I have many a time longed to push Bishop far enough to kill me but he never would... and NOW I have the two of you and I am not going to let Petty CHILDISH ego and attitude ruin that... so we need to figure out some way to all three work as one... to become a united group... to be one love.

She calmed some smiling softly. I do not expect you two to become intimate with each other but I will not lose either of you to your own egos or hurt feelings. SO any suggestions gentlemen? Emily you are technically a part of t his too as you have to put up with them as well.

~~~~
Emily was still blinking and trying not to appear terrified at Rayna's explosion of temper by looking at Darren and Greg nodding and Saying Yeah from time to time with what Rayna said. Looking to Rayna she shrugged...
I already told Darren maybe you three just need to have that threesome and get it out of their systems level the playing field as it were and get over themselves. Ohhh blue... whats this?
Emily quickly distracted by a blue stone laden golden necklace laying across an Egyptian looking pillow. She tried to trace her fingertips over the stone and stepped back... I felt that...
IC: Darren Cross and Gregory Wolf
Darren and Greg were dumbstruck by the sudden change in Rayna they watched as she paced back and forth in her hotel room carrying on, "...And NOW I have the two of you and I am not going to let Petty CHILDISH ego and attitude ruin that."
Darren and Greg looked at eachother forlornly like four year olds being scolded by their mother.
"So we need to figure out some way to all three work as one," Rayna stated glaring at both of them, "To become a united group," She finished, "To be one love."
Greg looked over to Darren saying in disbelief, "One Love...your talking of the three of us at the same time?"
Darren shook his head, "I'm not thrilled about it either, Greg."
Rayna smiled at them, "I do not expect you two to become intimate with each other but I will not lose either of you to your own egos or hurt feelings." She finished by asking them, "SO any suggestions gentlemen?"
Emily when asked for anything to add put in, "I already told Darren maybe you three just need to have that threesome and get it out of their systems level the playing field as it were and get over themselves."
Greg cleared his throat. "I don't want to see him naked when I'm with you," He gestured to Darren, "And I really don't want him to see me naked either."
Darren raised an eyebrow regarding Greg, "You're actually seriously considering a threesome?"
"Well, you're not giving up on Rayna, and I'm sure as hell am not either, Greg said blushing a bit, "I don't think a time-share system will work, so that leaves the three of us all at once."
"Somehow I thought you were more of a prude than that, Greg."
He shrugged, "I'm full of surprises."
Darren looked over to Rayna, "Well what do you think? Should we try it?"
A threesome is not required at this moment. Do either of you have ANY ideas as to how to make this work? I could blood bind both of you to me but then you would both get annoyingly subservient and I do not need that again...
She glanced to Emily for a moment a brow raised... the stone itself or whats in it?
Emily shrugged. I moved my hand to touch it and something seemed to be doing the same thing on the other side.
Rayna nodded... its harmless just haunted.
Looking back to Darren and Greg she moves pulling them both to their feet and placing their hands over her heart... I tracked my brother down to this town hoping to finally get that final rest to push him far enough or HELL even the council far enough to end this existence for me... then I saw the two of you... I saw how caring and noble and full of life you both are and... You both help each other you look out for each other and now I can look out for you both but only if you don't let petty crap get in the way of that genuine care and concern for the other.
She let go of their hands and turned away from both of them reaching a hand to pull down a scarf she had hanging up to reveal an old painting of her standing there with a fairly well muscled yet sleek looking man with feline eyes standing behind and beside her.
It is as though you both hold a piece of his soul within you...
Emily was the only one to see the tear of pure blood slip from her eyes as she walked over to her not sure what to do... He's really handsome... Emily attempted to wrap an arm around Rayna's shoulder as she looked back at them with a look that very clearly said Figure It Out Now!
IC: Darren Cross and Gregory Wolf
Rayna turned around facing a painting she removed the scarf off of. It was an old portrait of her and another man. Darren and Greg assumed to be her late husband.
"It is as though you both hold a piece of his soul within you."
Emily tried to hug her eventhough her arm went straight through Rayna, but the look she cast them gave no doubt about who she was empathizing with.
"We're sorry, Rayna, Darren said stepping forward to wrap her up in his arms, "Don't give up on us. We're still new to this sharing thing." He looked expectantly to Greg.
Greg sighed and nodded, "The three of us together. He stepped towards them taking them up in a group hug with Rayna in the center.
Rayna smiled resting a hand on each of them with a weak smile.
Emily kept looking from the painting to Darren then back to the painting and back to Greg...
Ummm Guys... is there something about the painting that you can see in the other person... His eyes... the air about him... kinda reminds me of you two... LITERALLY
Rayna looked to her and then to the painting and then to each of them... a soft smile gracing her lips as she moved her arms to hold both of them closer to her.
IC: Darren Cross and Gregory Wolf
"Ummm Guys... is there something about the painting that you can see in the other person," Emily said and Darren glanced up at it. Not really wanting to take a good look at a former lover of Rayna's but not seeing any choice in the matter.
"His eyes... the air about him... kinda reminds me of you two... LITERALLY." Emily continued.
Greg shrugged, "There a certain resemblance to Darren..."
"Funny," Darren laughed, "I was just going to say he looks alot like you."
Greg shook his head, "Come on he looks nothing like me."
"He has those same puppy dog eyes you do." Darren turned to Rayna, "Tell him."
IC: Batai
Barai stood outside the hotel room a man walked straight through him and shivered.
It was good Rayna had found love and happiness again. He couldn't bear her suicidal thoughts these past few years. she deserved to go on. To move on from their golden years of love. Now perhaps with Rayna finally moving on..perhaps he'd finally find his door to whatever is next in the afterlife.
Rayna looked to the painting and then to Greg and Darren. She studied their faces Batai's already committed to her soul.
I see him in both of you... your protective natures... the depths of your souls and kindness and desire to go beyond what you are and help anyone you can... And yes Greg you do have his eyes and really Darren you do too.
A hand reaching to rest on either of their cheeks. She knew Batai was near which is what brought the blood tear to her eyes as she stood there with Darren and Greg.
Batai... She called... if you would care to join us... I sense you near. Please do not hide as you often do in the shadows of the necklace's pull.
~~~~~
Emily looked around she sensed something too but with how many ghosts were in this dive of an apartment complex she just figured there was one tied to the room or the neighbors room.

"I see him in both of you... your protective natures... the depths of your souls and kindness and desire to go beyond what you are and help anyone you can," Rayna said placing a hand on each of their cheeks, "And yes Greg you do have his eyes and really Darren you do too."

"We don't know how this is going to work," Greg said lowering his head to place a kiss on Rayna's cheek.

"But one thing is sure however it does work its worth it." Darren kissed her on the other cheek.

-------------------------------------X

IC: Batai

"Batai if you would care to join us. I sense you near. Please do not hide as you often do in the shadows of the necklace's pull."

Batai shook his head. Rayna needed to move on, her two young lovers did not need the constant comparison to him.

He poofed to the roof of the hotel to give the three of them time alone without his presence to interfere with their burgeoning relationship.

Rayna smiled pulling them both close to her. Batai did not answer it was rare that he did not answer. She hugged the two of them closer a little hurt that he would not join them.

Yes... this will work... It has to...

~~~~
Emily vanished from the room. She knew he had been close by and that he had run. She stood behind the man that one was on the roof and had the same presence of the necklace.
She could really use your help with those two ya know. I mean seriously how much can she help a self hating werewolf without another were being there to guide him?
And Darren... don't get me started on fang boy...
She had heard another were call them that like the crazy man that tried to help Greg before.
Its like two brothers sniping each other for the same woman. I get the feeling you know more about her randomly showing up here than they do and maybe more than I do... her "aura" is dark but... strange.
She stood there her arms crossed not quite glaring but close enough. Emily held no fear of vampire or Werewolf... well except the crazy man and the weird psycho Ivy
So are you going to help the woman you love or are you going to run? Hell Help ME help them. One of us has to.
IC: Darren Cross and Gregory Wolf
"Yes, this will work," Rayna said softly, "It has to."
"Come on Rayna, let's pack up your stuff and get you moved into the townhouse," Darren said.
"I'll make my special breakfast tomorrow morning for everybody," Greg put in.
-------------------------------------------------X
IC: Batai
"So are you going to help the woman you love or are you going to run," The talkative woman said to him exasperation in her voice, "Hell Help ME help them. One of us has to."
Batai didn't answer he stood there on the roof gazing up at the moon, nearly full, no longer a subject of significance to him. He stood there a minute just star gazing. A breeze picked up.
"I miss the feel of the wind against my face," He said out loud his latin accent coloring the pronounciation, "I don't feel anything. Hot, cold, the feel of my wife's hair as I run my fingers through it, nothing. Two centuries of nothing."
"How long has it been for you?" He turned to look at Emily, "A year? Two? You know nothing, little one."
"What Rayna needs is to move on...from me." He raised his hand and slowly relishing the sensation ran his fingers through her hair and peering into her eyes. "We are dead, little one. Over time you will understand like I did that this world, is for the living. We have no place here."
Rayna smiled to them and nodding to Greg. He was still so young as a werewolf that he so easily forgot they did not eat though looking to Darren she got the feeling he humored him.
Yes lets get my stuff packed up and moved in to our home my dears.
A hand reaching to Darrenand one to Greg resting on their cheeks as she smiled to them.
~~~~~
Then why have you followed her for so long if we have no place with the living?

Emily closed her eyes feeling someone able to touch her and sighed.

I watch over those two boneheads just like you watch over here and have for... how long... Did you not find your door or just chose to ignore it because you did not want to leave her.

IC: Darren Cross and Gregory Wolf

They packed Rayna's things and began to climb down the stairs heading towards the townhouse.

-----------------------------------X

IC: Batai

"Then why have you followed her for so long if we have no place with the living?"

Batai shrugged, "I didn't say I stopped caring for her." He noted the way she closed her eyes when he ran his hands through her hair again. It was the simple things you discovered you missed the most when they were gone.

"I watch over those two boneheads just like you watch over her and have for... how long..."

"Just over two hundred years."

"Did you not find your door or just chose to ignore it because you did not want to leave her."

"Yes, I saw my door before and I had my chance and I chose to stay...fpr her." Batai looked down as three tiny figures walked out of the front door of the hotel carrying boxes.

Within a blink he was down on the street. He nodded to the two strapping young playthings and then finally to Rayna.

"Moving on, Rayna?"

Emily still was not sure what to make of his touch or that he was over 2 hundred years old... She could barely imagine the people she had seen in the hospital having been there for 20 much less 200.

She watched him appear before Rayna and the guys and joined them.

~~~~~
Rayna looked at him... his words she did not know how to take... she never did when he spoke of moving on... how could she move on... what was this moving on... He was her heart... Yes Darren and Greg were precious to her and she cared for them but was it really them or just what they reminded her of about him.
Darren... Greg... This is Batai... My husband...
Batai... This is Greg and Bishops Childer Darren
Her eyes as usual locked and got lost in his a hand unconsciously reaching for his cheek.
IC: Darren Cross and Gregory Wolf and Batai
"Moving on, Rayna," The man that suddenly appeared in front of them asked.
Greg shifted the bags he was carrying uncomfortably. "Who are you?"
"Darren. Greg," Rayna said introducing them, "This is Batai. My husband."
"You mean late husband," Darren said nodding over the suitcase in his arms to Greg. "He's dead."
"Well maybe Emily will finally have someone to talk to now," Greg shrugged. "Someone who will listen."
Darren nodded but to Batai asked, "Our..." He looked at Greg then at Rayna, "...Our relationship isn't going to be a problem for you, is it?"
Batai studied them both for a moment. "Let's just say that if you hurt Rayna in any way..." He stopped giving the statement an ominous pause, "...You will be the ones having the problems."
He turned to Rayna reached out his hands to move a stray lock of hair that had moved in her face. His fingers passed through it of course leaving the strand of hair stubbornly sticking in its place. "If you are happy with these two young kits then I am overjoyed by it, but if you ever need me, beloved Courdresai, then heaven and hell would not stand in my way to you."
He started to fade then, "I return to the necklace now but remember the wedding vows I gave you. 'You are never alone. You are never unloved.'" He was gone then.
Greg shifted Rayna's luggage again, "Was it just me, or was that kind of weird?"
Yes... Rayna snapped... Late husband...
There was a pained venom to her voice. Her eyes closing for a moment till she heard Darren's question. Her eyes never leaving Batai watching him reach to brush her hair back away from her eyes knowing he can not do so. a happy yet sorrow flooded smile graced her lips as she again tried to reach a hand to him watching him fade. She touched the necklace that now rested as it had so often over her heart.
She closed her eyes as he faded.
Farewell My Manosyo...
Her words barely a whisper as she straightened her form and clothes and brushing her hair back opening her eyes looking to Darren and then to Greg
What was weird about it Greg?
~~~~

Emily just stood there watching them still thinking about the fact that this Batai could touch her.

"Was it just me, or was that kind of weird?"

"Yes," Rayna said with a harsh tone to her voice, "Late husband."

Greg shrugged noncommittally, "Meeting the ex or in this case deceased husband is always a little awkward."

Darren nodded but said, "Come on lets get to the townhouse."

They walked the rest of the way to house. Set Rayna's bags down and helped her unpack.

Soon they turned in for their own beds. In his sleep Greg tossed and turned. Making noise. Darren lay in his own bed eyes open trying to wait it out.

Rayna sat there in her room hearing the beginning of what she knew all too well would be a couple of nights of what Greg clearly viewed as a curse. She closed her eyes touching the necklace.

Batai he needs your help... but I don't know if he would accept it or not.

Her words were barely a whisper.

Emily sat pondering the fact that Batai could touch her

IC: Gregory Wolf and Batai

Greg woke with a start, bathed in a cold sweat, and his heart was beating a mile a minute. Outside the window the moon nearly full hung low in the pre-dawn sky, an insistent reminder of his curse, his disease.

He buried his head in hands not wanting to see the moon, not wanting to acknowledge its existance for just a minute, or its cruel dictatorship over him. He took deep lungfuls of air to settle his racing heart. "Just a dream," He whispered to himself and wishing he could convince himself of the lie.

God, he could still smell the scents of the forest. The primordial thrill of running on all fours through it. The satisfaction of having his paws dig into the soil. The anticipation as he caught the scent wafting on the night's breeze of prey unsuspecting of his approach. The animalistic joy as he chased it down among the trees. The instinctive calculation as his jaws clamped down on its leg as it fell to the ground. The sound of its strangled breath as his jaws crushed its larynx. The anticipation as he had brought the poor remains of the creature to his mate to share. The face of Rayna proud in him as a provider for their anticipated family as they devoured it to the bone.

He got up and walked down the hall to the bathroom. Wincing as floorboards creaked, unwilling to wake up Darren or Rayna.

He ran some water in the sink and splashed some on his face. He rose to look at himself in the mirror and started as he saw Batai in the reflection. He turned to see the ghost in the bathroom's doorway.

"She wants me to help you," Batai said softly.

"You can't help me," Greg said turning off the faucet. "Not unless you know of a cure."

"A cure, no," Batai shook his head, "You are Candjou. An outsider. I was of the Iledresoi, the honored chosen. You see it as a curse from god to bear for your sins, or as a deformity to endure, or as an illness to combat. In my life, among my people we saw it as a blessing, an honor above all others. Those of us chosen to it were revered as the greatest of us. When I was just becoming a man I stood with the other young ones of my tribe and hoped, prayed to god that I would be seen as worthy for the honor. When I was selected I stood under the full moon and embraced the elder, my father, exultant as he marked me Iledresoi, in truth."

Greg blinked, "you knew, and you allowed it to happen to you?"

"I can not help you, Candjou," Batai continued, "I know of no cure. I never sought out for one for I never saw it as a disease."

That caused a spike of anger and resentment in Greg, "I never wanted this. I never stood and embraced it. I was bitten while I was running from the werewolf that killed my friends and ate them. It was a miracle that I escaped alive not an honor. I wasn't chosen. I was infected."

Batai nodded, "As I said, you are Candjou and I am Iledresoi. I can not help you. We are just too different."

"Well thanks for trying, anyway." With that he walked through Batai and marched back to his bed to angry to sleep again.

Batai shook his head genuinely sorrowful for the Candjou, and for the fact that he was unable to fulfill Rayna's wishes.

Rayna knocked on Greg's door motioning for Batai to join her. She had heard what was said and that made her think. She had one thought one idea that now guided her steps and soon her words.

Greg...Its Rayna may I come in?

She waited for an answer before entering.

IC: Gregory Wolf and Darren Cross

He had just lain back down on his bed when a knock came from the door. He sighed part in exhaustion and part in exasperation. Greg got back up and crossed back to the door opening it.

"Rayna," He said not too surprised to see her. "I'm sorry if I woke you."

His eyes shifted to Batai behind her narrowing. "I suppose you overheard everything," Greg said, "I can guess what you want to say, but I can tell you now I doubt anything you could say will change how I feel about my....condition."He leaned against the door jam barring their way in. A subtle sign that this was a subject he was highly unlikely to budge on.

Darren leaned his head against the door. His hand was on the door knob. He was uncertain whether he could help Greg or Rayna but unwilling to just go back to bed without doing something to help. But he was torn. He didn't know what to say for he didn't know how he felt about it.

No... you did not wake me Greg...

She stood there watching his eyes a soft smile gracing her face wanting so much to help him.

I have learned in my very long life that nothing happens with no reason for it...ever. What the wolf did to you you are right was not by your choice... but... you were chosen... there is a reason that it could not kill you... a reason that not even the wolf itself could have even known at the time. Now all you have to do is chose to find out what that divine or greater or whatever you want to call it reason is. Or the path you have chosen and wallow in self hatred and constantly wonder why me. Think about Mr Jacobs in the hospital That dear sweet old man half blind and leagally deaf raised 6 children and 4 grandchildren on his own after a racist idiot tried to end his life as a young man... about your age. Even now... he fights stronger than any mortal should have to against even more illness and trials... He knows about my kind... He and I have been friends for quite a while. I offered to embrace him make him one of us... want to know what he said...

I could let you do that and cheat myself out of the lesson life wants me to learn right now... I thank you for your offer but I am not going to turn my tail and run from a little illness I am going to beat this my way just like I have everything else. Its a part of me to let you do that would be to change part of who I am... I can't do that...

Rayna did her best not to shed a tear at the inevitable loss of her friend but she knew they would all know better.

All I ask is that you think on what I have said Greg and know this... No one here thinks any less of you for what you are we all love you for exactly who and what you are. I just wish you could feel the same for yourself.

With those words a tear fell from her eyes solely for Greg as she leaned closer kissing his cheek softly smiling to him hoping that maybe something she has said got through.

If you wish his help Batai I know will be more than willing to listen to you and try to talk to you and help you when you are ready.

IC: Gregory Wolf

Greg had heard what Rayna had said and it did make him think about what she had said. He slept fitfully with more wolf dreams plaguing him as was customary on nights leading up to the full moon.

He awoke the next morning groggy but was able to make the big breakfast he had promised Darren and Rayna, of which he was the only one that actually ate the food. He then went to the hospital for work and spent the day clearing bedpans and mopping floors.

Once his shift was over, and afternoon was slipping into evening he left for the abandoned building on the corner of Washington avenue and 11th street. He went into the basement. that was completely enclosed he locked and chained up the door. He pulled out the folding chair he kept in a corner. Sat and waited.

Hours passed. The sun set and night came. Inevitably the moon rose in full face.

Greg's watch beeped, and he rose and shed his clothes as he felt the changes begin. At first they felt like a bad case of indigestion, but within a short while he was screaming as bones stretched and extended to form paws and snout. Ears grew to points and shifted to the top of his head. Tawny brown fur rapidly grew all over his body. Soon his screams changed to the howl of a werewolf.

Rayna had followed him. She waited till just before the shift was fully underway and entered the room nodding to a temporarily entranced city worker to lock the door back knowing that Darren always came to let Greg out the next morning. She would have asked Darren but she did not want to spend half the night arguing with him when she knew what to do with Greg to show him the wolf is NOT his enemy.

She stood there watching the transformation silently with a tender smile she could see the beauty of the transformation and the wild raw splendor of the pure release of the animal back to the wild. Waiting to see what he did first so she would know what to do to help him. She had brought him a "meal" but she would direct when he ate any of it to help the Wolf even more.

Greg this is the only way I know of that I can show you that the Wolf within you is NOT your enemy... I have faith in that would and in you... Now you will have faith in that wolf and in yourself.

The necklace resting safely around her neck hidden by her shirt.

Emily felt weird walking around the house confused... something was off but she was not sure what it was. She knew that Greg was in his hiding place for his shift but where was Rayna or Batai?

The wolf was within its pen again, but it made the most of it. It had selected a corner to lay and sleep in after its check of its den it would look around for a means out. So it may hunt and search for its chosen mate.

There was a new scent in the air of the pen. Sniffing his nose up following the trail of the scent to the stair leading to the door and the way out that was always chained and barred to it. There at the top of the stairs was his chosen mate.

His tail wagged as he loped on all fours up the steps to her. Getting up close and sniffing her over the way universal for canines and lycanthropes alike when meeting a stranger or a returned aqcuaintance. His snout slipped under the flimsy fabric of her skirt and he got a snortful of the scent of his chosen mate's sex. He pushed closer burying his snout further between her legs and licking up the inner part of her thigh with his rough tongue.

A carefully placed thump to his muzzle she stared down into his eyes.

No... I am here to teach NOT mate Greg...

She then pushed his nose away from her.

Now it is time for you to learn that this side of you... The wolf side of you is not the enemy but just another beautiful part of you.

Walking past him she headed down stairs with confident steps.
