Because they give us our definition of happy: joy, pleasure, contentment. Because they represent whatever we think will make us feel fulfilled. Wants between people vary because we are all the end product of different experiences.

I'm going to go agains the crowd on this one and say the "why" does matter. The "why" says something about who we are as individuals. What we've taken away from our experiences. It's what makes people interesting.

And the curtesy kills the thread. Which is okay as the curtesy itself is an extinct act outside of sarcasm and Royal formalities. I can't say I've ever witnessed a curtesy outside of those two examples. The curtesy was an action that went from common to faded away. Which brings me to today's, lighter than the last few day's, topic. What would you like to see brought back? Let's try to keep music groups/extinct animals/ and dead people off the list. I mean lets not make it too easy to bring back BJ & the Bear.
 
CSA.. I know they are coming back, but not nearly with enough following needed to sustain them in current suburban cultures. I saw where there are new "neighborhood CSA communities" being built where the developers actually account for several central acres to be utilized for farming. Great idea. But, house lots in the "communities" are priced so far out of reach for middle and low income families.. I'd love to live in one but they are crazy-stupid-expensive...

Manners and common courtesy for our fellow man.
Respect for our young and for our elders.
More focus on our children and in teaching them morals and values.
The days when our children were actually schooled and educated.
The old days, like when Billy the Kid was around.
Oh! And the Dodge Stealth.

Crap! I forgot my favorite one. Led Zeppelin concerts. That's not just a group. It's an actual event. So, I don't think I'm breaking any rule with this one.

Yes, we do seem to think the same on a lot of things (hug).

And, me too, dear lady. I don't mean the reunion type concert. I mean the real deal. The ones my parents would have gone to. When Jimmy Page was in his prime *swoon*. When Robert Plant's voice was impeccable and he always had his shirt off *breaks out in a hot flash*. I was born just a little too late.

Oh! And we are both Italian. How beautiful is that? *wink*

Mmm... heartwarming and reminiscent of when my beautiful grandmother would speak to me in Italian when I was just a wee little girl. I wish I would have had more time to learn this from her and many more days in the kitchen with her.

My pre-baby body. I'd like to have that back, too. :)

Bring home cooked food to a social event versus a store bought salad, desert or other tasteless shit entrée. I don't go to a charity bake sale to buy store-bought cookies. No auntie Georgia, I don't want Hy-Vee's potato salad via plastic container, I want yours and now you've crushed the 4th of July for me.

Being habitually late is now acceptable and over looked. Yes, I've been late once (ok, maybe more. I see the raised eyebrow look.) but it's not been because of procrastination. Guess what, there's always gonna be traffic, a child will tell you last minute that they have to pee and what ever misconstrued disaster will be sure to happen. Leave five minutes earlier, problem solved.*

*not always, and maybe never. But it will make you feel better for the effort put forth.

I'd like to see thigh highs and garter belts brought back as the norm instead of this pantyhose bullshit. Who is the fucker that decided to mesh those things together? I assume he is the same person who invented AIDS.
