Just a curious thought here this morning. What is the Lit societal norm for answering a random PM that floats to your inbox? Removing all the asshat ones, the cock shots, the overtly sexual, and the copy and pastes, if someone reaches out to you, are you obligated to respond. I realize that if there has been some board exchanges that ups the obligation, if you already know a person that raises it to a must. But for someone you don't know..... And as a sender of said random PM, what is your expectation on a reply? To me, if I don't know a person at all but for some reason would be compelled to PM them, while a reply would be nice, there's no ill will if one doesn't come my way.

I don't send random PM's. If I send a PM, it is because of an exchange on the boards or something like that and then... yeah, I do usually expect a reply. There's only been once or twice where that didn't happen. And I only cried for a week or so.

I don't really receive many random PM's either. I generally ignore them unless it is something terribly clever. I suppose that makes me a PM snob.

Really Pmann? She fills up my PM box all the time. 15-20 a day. I must be pretty special.

Everyone knows I'm but a jackass in the shadow of P Daddy. Suzanne wouldn't give me the time of day when your sexy self is keeping her hands busy with your PMs.

I'm an equal opportunity messenger...lol
But, that said, I seldom send unsolicited anything. Ergo..I don't usually have to worry about going unanswered.

I'm a bit like tequila.. Not everyone likes it. If you reach out to me, I assume you've done your homework and have at least some idea of how it's going down.

I will respond though when messaged. Out of courtesy if nothing else.

What gripes my ass is when you strike up a conversation then....

Nevermind...pearls before swine, I guess..

Keep at it PMann, i'm sure your game will snap into shape shortly.

One of these days I will be clever enough to get a response. :(

Someday. Reach for the stars, little fella. *chucks you under the chin*

But let's be honest, it's a pretty tight little box.

Oh, sorry… I digressed to greasy buttholes again.

Oh, look…… more boobies!

well...fuck. That shit happens to all men. And here I was thinking Chained had some special powers or something from the unique brand of inbreeding that takes place between him and Pmann...

I'm crushed :(

Well, that was not how I envisioned yesterday going ;)

I tend to project how I think the day is going to unfold. Not necessarily with particular expectations, but just kind of a "plan for the day" and then it's usually off plan by about 8am every morning.

I know many let their day just happen, or say they do. But I think we all have a basic plan for the day. Even no plan is a plan.

How important is your plan to you? Will you fight to keep it in place? Will you let it go, noting the deviation in your head? Or are you one that requires the plan be followed?

I like my personal days to go exactly as planned. Not because I want to control everything but because I want to maximize the quality/quantity of what I can get done in that time. Saying that, I'm also ok with someone else doing all the planning and like unexpected things to happen.

I dunno.... Sounds creepier somehow than my first one..

Regarding "Plans"...

Like I mentioned before, if I don't have something to focus on and finish, I am doomed. It's one of the major reasons my job as of late has been a crazy-stupid source of stress. When you're given a manageable task, one that can be completed within a reasonable time frame....I'm good.

However, when you give the projects, take away five of my minions, and still expect it to be done.....??

That's what I call "poor planning", not to mention a recipe that makes ripe the conditions for which bar fight picking might become a necessity.

I digress.

I have to have a plan.

*squirrel*

Or I can't get a damn thing done.

*look another one!*

And THEN...When the plan does not get completed?? I feel like a complete and utter failure...

Edited to Add:
I love lazy days..if that's the plan..lol. But I do tend to feel stressed when by the weekend I've still got stuff on my desk.
I need an off-switch. :(

I've worked in the gov't...people avoided work by planning to plan

hahaha.. it's my least favorite part of meetings! we spend the first half talking about what we did last month and the second half talking about what we should have done for this month.. and the third half planning on how we'll make up for it next month!

You're trying to math again. We've talked about this.

I usually have one or two things to do and I plan on getting those done. Everything else is just whatever. "Okay, grocery shopping is done. Now I can play Xbox." I don't have much by way of obligations though.
