If I came into a pile of spendable cash - I say spendable because my first instinct with a large sum would be to save or invest it - I would definitely take more vacations.

And buy more shoes. :)

If I came into a huge pile of cash, I would fly my butt to The Caribbean fast enough to make your head spin, buy a house boat (I have no idea how to operate a boat), get a job as a bartender (I'm terrible at socializing), and live the rest of my days out in paradise. I would save just enough to make sure I could survive into old age and leave the rest to my children (I'll ask them to donate to a good cause).

Or, a pet sanctuary with lots and lots of dogs. I'm good with that, too.

Your kids aren't donating your money. They're buying jet skis. I already told you why they are so fun.

I want to use up all of my money. Then, when I die, I want my last check to bounce. That will take some clever planning. But it's my goal.

Yeah, you're probably right. If there's one thing I haven't been able to pass down, it's financial know how. Why do these things have to be so complicated?

Okay, I'll donate. Then, they can have the rest. Maybe they will follow in my footsteps and live their lives out on the water soaking up the sun. You know, the good stuff. True happiness is always free.

Shoe shopping, I'm on board. And a few new purses can't hurt anything.

My heart is pretty big and I would enjoy donating my time and money to some charities that are near and dear to me. Medical research, particularly pediatric is pretty high on my list. Love to start some community gardens too.
Paying it forward or being an invisible angel would bring me the utmost joy. Helping out individuals/families that are going through a rough time or just need that surprise "I'm thinking about you" would make my smile wide and my heart sing. I want to be able to do that more.

For the record, if there's shoe shopping, I'm on board. Women aren't the only ones that enjoy quality shoes in large quantities. :)

Maybe today should be a "whimsical Wednesday" where we won't wallow in woes while writing. We will write what we want, without 'wules.

Nah, but that was kind of fun to write.

The Powerball is over $300million. Quite the sizeable sum of cash, even after taxes. The financial freedom it would bring would be fantastic, but with it would come great responsibility. Shouldn't we be a good Shepard of the money, to allow some personal frivolousness but not to be overly wasteful? To use it to make an impact beyond our personal life?

If you stop to think about how you might live your life after winning, how much of that can you do now? Maybe not to the same scale but don't we carry the same responsibilities without regard to our financial standing?

Seems the question got just a tad off track....*giggles!*

Someone in Brampton, Ontario is sitting on a $60 million Lotto Max from last weekends draw.....largest tax free lottery draw in Canada yet!! Imagine the possibilities...

Of course, we as a family have discussed this "what if we win" scenario many, many times.

We would first get all of our affairs in order.
Additions to the will.
Give notice at work.
Go to Toronto, pick up the cheque, disappear off the face of the earth for 6 months.

When we resurface after the furor has died down - money for my 13 siblings and the hubbys Dad....all with a notarized document that they can't come back for more.

Money in trust for our kids and grand kids - whenever that may happen.
Property bought - several farms, vacation properties. Our new home will be built to specification and will be totally off grid...fuck you Ontario Hydro!

There will be a scholarship set up at our local highschool in our family name as well as at the local college my husband attended.

I would be off to England, Ireland, Scotland and France. Also to Russia. Hubby won't fly...so I guess I will have to ask a friend to come.

The rest to be invested....even $30 million at 2% compounded interest will guarantee that we never need to worry about money. And not with just 1 investor....will be spread to various different ones so no one can pull a Ponzi type scheme and take it all....

I would then volunteer my time in various ways and keep working my sales businesses....one needs something to do after all and it would get me out of the house.....lol!!

Of course, you may notice...no charities?? No....well at least not any national charities. At my job, I see daily where exactly your hard earned money goes...and it isn't to cancer research. I think I would like to pick a small, struggling charity every year and make an anonymous donation....
