Wow! There's even an acronym for it!

*grins* I have to confess I just made it up ... But LQ has a nice ring to it. Almost like James Bond's "Q". A man of many possibilities. Just like LQ. Sometimes with a dear lover, sometimes with a friend. Not a long-searched-for-date and time to have fun, but a spur of the moment.

Hmmmmm, either my questions don't inspire much discussion any more or the whole premise has lost its blosom.

On Lit lust conquers timezones sometimes. Of course the lust has to be so big and promising one of the involved people gladly scarifies some sleep over getting the satisfaction the lust offers.

For me it mostly is a game of give and take though. With some it comes easy. It all depends on the connection there is. Just like in RL, you can't hurry it ...
*dances*
:D

Times zones can be the bane of life here at Lit. A couple hours or 14, it seems like no matter what, it's hard to overcome. In RL there's the romantic notion of love conquering all. On lit, it seems like list doesn't quite have that sort of perseverance. Does Lit lust come easy for you or is it a game of give and take?

Since I'm here, I might as well answer the question. :D Even though it's almost not "today" anymore.

Love may possibly conquer all, but I'm not sure lust has the same capacity, whether we're talking Lit or real life.

As far as Lit lust coming easy, are we talking the newly coined LQs (nice Dutchrain! :cattail:) or lust directed at a specific person? Surely two wildly different items. LQs seem like they would be pretty easy, assuming you had the inclination, adequate time, and enough potential quickie partners.

Lust for an individual, well, I think it would be like real life lust. That animal probably has to be kept fed.

Keep the good work up, Chained. Sometimes there simply are more people around than at other times. And sometimes a question provokes more reactions.

I had it playing in my mind for he rest of the day. And probably will be humming pieces of it again today now!

Watching the civil unrest last night, I found myself glad that my travels have never put me in harms way. And was thinking that had I a trip planned for St Louis today, I'd probably had cancelled. It's all about risk management. So to put a Lit spin on it, what's the biggest risk you'd take to be with a lover? A lover that you had to be with, one for which you would assume risks far greater than you might to go grocery shopping.

That is a hard question. It is easy to say I would take any risk. And maybe I would have when I was younger, but now there are people in my life (my offspring) I would take into consideration.

I really don't know how I would answer a call from a lover.

I think I do know though, because I would take a lot more risks for my offspring than for my husband or a lover.

Sidebar topic - is it me or are there More than the usual number virgin litsters out there these days, all single, mid-20s, with blatantly suggestive bios.

you noticed that, too?
I'm seriously leery of responding to anyone who's been a member since the beginning of time, yet has only one or two posts..

This question takes me in too many different mental directions. From the way the question started, I’m guessing you mean physical risk? That’s…tough to quantify. How serious is the relationship? What is the nature of the dynamics? Are we talking love or lust? If lust, how much? Is the relationship enduring in any way? All those factors, and a host of others, would come into play, for me at least.

For an emotionally intimate relationship, whether a primary love or something else, I’d take a lot of physical risk under the right circumstances.

I haven’t noticed particularly, but something similar came up on the BDSM forum a while back. Same kind of thing; single, female, 18-22, very suggestive profiles. A large percentage also had November 30 birthdays. An odd little detail.

you noticed that, too?

That weirds me out too.

This, me too.

The new Litsters I didn't notice. I just don't notice them unless they post on threads I post on.

At the risk of killing your thread.....

I agree that this could be a mighty big question although keeping a response to risks taken which might be more than those risks for domestic shopping arrangements to be with a lover does narrow the focus. I agree with Dutchrain. My family would always come first. Any risk that puts their life and lifestyle at risk would be too risky. There was a horrific murder here some years ago of a wealthy business and family man who secretly met couples for sex. He died a horrible death, and his wife and kids had years of media speculation to endure before the couple charged with his murder went to trial, whereupon more history of his secret life was exposed.

That being said, in terms of taking a risk to meet someone illicitly, ordinarily I would assume that the risk is in discovery and the potential consequences. I have had reason to consider it, but I have not taken that risk.

Are you asking this now to throw us off the scent so you can continue to proliferate these alts in peace? ;)

I think this is worthy of more than a sidebar topic. It's been bugging me, too, because if they are not pathetic alts, then I despair about the young women of today. Most of these profiles are for women. I assume someone is having fun at the expense of Lit being a friendly and welcoming place. There must be enough unsuspecting members to whom such profiles appeal that it is worth their effort to ensnare people trying to make a connection.

Maybe the moderators could turn their attention away from censorship and shutting down threads and do something about increasing the integrity of the membership base. We know there have been men who have been horrified to discover the woman with whom they thought they had a connection was a middle age man only playing with their emotions. There are a few young men here that I suspect may be much older members behind new profiles. Suspicions about things like the high number of virgin newbies may well be chasing away genuine members or guests who might like to join. Then we see places like the Playground with fewer participants despite an increasing membership base. It has a roll on effect.

I'm sure there is a fair amount of alt activity involved here.

Having said that, I feel we should all keep in mind that the holidays are very lonely for some. A good number of the new names floating around the boards may be attached to a real person who needs to feel connected to something right now. Please tread carefully.

I tend to be a risk taker, but not an idiot. I take risks that are as calculated as I can make them. If there are too many total unknowns, or if there is too much at stake, I am less likely to take a risk. And so I think the biggest risk for me might be just meeting a Lit lover. What if we didn't click in real life? As to physical risk, I would say I would definitely not leave the country. And would probably feel the safest in a state that reciprocates Texas concealed carry laws :D

*opens car console and pats her .38*

Yep. Still there :D

I don't think I would feel safe in a place where a lot of people carry guns. Here only the police and the military carry them (when on duty), and a very few people who have: 1) Permission to buy a gun 2) said person is able to prove he/she needs the gun to protect him/herself, third parties or property and 3) they pass a test.

Since the military is a "militia" army nearly all the way through, people who could be called in, people who still have to show up for an annual three-weeks "rehearsal" have their army gun at home. Which is being discussed hotly every time someone gets killed by an army gun. Which doesn't happen that often, every three, four years or thereabout. But more and more people vote to have all army weapons locked at armories every time this is made subject of a vote. (I live in a direct democracy. People find other people who have the same feelings, they start a vote, and the politicians have to abide to the outcome of the vote.)

I am with Dutchrain -- I feel less safe amongst gun-toters, although of course, she stated it much more thoroughly and eloquently.

In all seriousness, though, the biggest risk is one in which you would go with someone voluntarily.

Because, a threat is already difficult enough to sense or assess. Once trust is established, and your clothes are off with your gun in its holster lying on the floor, and you're tied up, rendered completely helpless...

Well, you know...
