I have to confess that I really do not understand the fear of 'getting caught'. But then I don't hide anything and have no secrets to keep either.

This is interesting, as there are those of use here "with permission," who don't really need contingency plans (as long as we're playing by "the rules"). I wonder how many of us fall into this category? Some of us are here with our partners, some of us are here just with our partners' knowledge.

I'm here with permission, with a set of specific boundaries outlined, and with the specific instructions that Lit is "my" site and my husband can go onto any site he wants, as long as it's not this one. Now, whether or not he stalks me here, I don't know...

My S.O. has found Lit on my phone a time or two. I just told her that I browse the picture threads. She thinks that I lurk for porn potential and that I don't really interact much.

If she found out, it would probably be ok. I don't keep "stuff".

I do have an email account that if she ever found out about, I'd have some explaining to do. I don't think she'll ever find out about that though.

I've noticed that a few older threads were brought back from the dead recently. 3 or 4 years of dormancy and someone has brought them back. I'm not sure how someone "discovers" a thread that old but it seems odd to me. I looked at one yesterday and no one that had posted most recently was an active member, almost all having been gone a couple years.

Should old, dead threads remain dead? Even if you want to ressurrect the premise, I would start it fresh, allowing sleeping dogs to lay. It just seemed a bit creepy to me.

I totally agree! Start fresh. I like to know what the people I interact with NOW have to say on a subject, not those who no longer log in. What if I have a question? I can't get some long departed Litster to elaborate. Besides, attitudes change, different toys and equipment come onto the market. Then there is the whole possibility of dredging up interactions from past relationships that some people might not care to see! It usually is the newbies who stir those threads up, unknowingly I think. Yeah. Start fresh.

I don't do it, but in no way is it creepy to me. I figure somehow the bumper saw the OP's profile and not realizing they were long dead, looked up their old threads.

Could be noobs, could be 'noobs' with a Lit past resurrecting old interests.

I've recently started poking into the lists for older threads to post on. It has nothing to do with looking for older threads specifically. Just something different that doesn't get first page cover time. Even doing that, sometimes only puts me back a few days, maybe a month at the most.

I don't actively seek out threads for information, communication, or conversations with others. I don't expect people to reply to or comment on anything I post, and I don't expect people to PM me about anything ever. It doesn't bother me if it happens, but it's not an expectation. If I find a random thread with a topic that interests me in the moment, I might post something and never go back into that thread again, even if it picks up. This really is the only thread I go into for substance reading and writing if I can answer the question.

It depends on the thread, especially if you're over in the "How To" board. Some of the advice on those old threads is timeless. Although, for whatever reason, people (n00bs, particularly) don't seem to want to read the stickys at the top of the page and go traipsing into all sorts of dead zones. Creepy? No. Annoying as sh*t? Yeah, more like that.

Like Broken Romantic, sometimes I just like to explore past the first few pages of threads. I like to sort by the number of views to see what kinds of threads get the most views... it usually cracks me up. No ulterior motive other than amusement.

A lot of times I just click on the Views column in different forums to re-sort the threads by number of views, but that does only show threads that have had a response within the last few months.

Sometimes I use the advanced search function that lets you define more parameters and one of the options is to find posts older or newer than <a period of time>. It's a little more tedious, so I don't do it often. And I rarely post on them and revive them - it's just interesting to me to see what past threads have been popular.

As much as we love to post, play, and pontificate here, we are beholden to the technology. So let's turn today's topic into a tech geek freak show. What tips/tricks do you know that will make our posting so much better? For example, I saw recently there was some new knowledge in how to turn your AV into a gif. I'm sure there's a thread out there that probably covers this but think of it as sharing amongst your Lit buddies.

As for geeky freaky tech tips, I am the wrong person to give any. I barely manage the buttons Lit has, and from most of them I discovered the use by just aiming the cursor, closing my eyes, hit the mouse and look what had happened.

A lot of times people are post stalking me after seeing one of my present day, insightful posts, they click on my profile and begin reading every single thread on which I've posted. Sometimes they are just so damned interesting, it's hard for people to resist.
