Strolls in....I'm late....I'm late.....for a very important date. There, now you have a new song stuck in your heads :)

You want a question? Can you handle the question? Lol

Damn, I think I'm starting to channel pmann, that can't be good.

Many of us are here without the knowledge of anyone in our RL. That can be problematic in any number of ways. For me, I often want to share something I read here. But I don't because I can never answer the "who told you that" or "where'd you hear that" saying "a friend" or "someone at work" won't cut it. How do you struggle bringing Lit into your RL?

Gracie's known forever that I'm here. I told her about it a few years ago and made her guess my moniker. The day she delved into my stories was really awesome. :D

When I'm on the radio talking I just refer to people as my on-line friends.

The husband knows I come here. I just tell him "I saw it online" and he knows I mean Lit. The rest of my world assumes "I saw it online" means facebook because it is their primary online destination.

I just say 'friends online', without being specific. I don't see that as being deceitful or embarrassment - it's just more convenient than having to give a half-hour explanation to each and every.
All the same, I agree with Chainey, that sometimes I can't refer to something on Lit as I would do with other media...

we're not supposed to refer to this place as the "Online parenting discussion board" ?

It's never been a problem for me because there's never been a conversation where I even thought to bring something from here to real life. The other way around.. sometimes.

The couple of people I'm most intimate with know I'm here. Yeah, I'm transparent like that.

Actually, I'm just a really sucky liar. :D

If I want to share, I just say, "Someone on Lit said....,". With those less intimate I qualify, if necessary, by saying I heard it somewhere.

My husband knows I'm here, but to anyone else I just say things like "someone recommended this book to me" or similar. I just stay vague.

Only one friend knows I'm here.

It is very difficult to not bring up Lit sometimes. I remember one time at Christmas after the kids opened gifts, we were talking with the family about the best way to shove a fist up someone's ass. From my time on the How To forum, I knew that it would be easiest to lube up, put your fingers together, slide in easily, THEN make a fist. But could I tell my mother that? Nope. Not without having the awkward conversation of where I got that information. I would've been really embarrassed. So, instead, I just sat there knowing my parents would be fisting in a manner that is not the most pleasurable.

I always have read something somewhere. Or I heard something somewhere. My brain is a sieve regarding the recording of the sources of my knowledge.

He knows I read on here. To anyone else..."I saw/heard/read this online.

Ahahaaaa

I got kicked off and banned from the Baby Whisperer forum about 12 years ago.

True story. :(

I've been banned from several mothering boards, they just don't like my point of view pointed at their sanctimonious selves.

On topic though, I have a few friends who know I come here, and my husband knows all about it. I talk freely about sex with most anyone, and no one is ever really surprised when I have answers for their questions. I've never had anyone question where I got my Ph.D in sex.

Ok, that sounded pretentious as hell. Lol

Late, Chained?...did your fuzzy hair and whiskers take too much time to shave?

I don't know that Lit itself inspires any wish to share, but sometimes in conversations in RL, things I've gleaned on or through here come to mind.

I've always been good at being able to recall pertinent information but hopeless at remembering the source. I read very widely on my ipad so a generic "I read it somewhere recently" would satisfy most who know me.

Anyone in my life would be fine with me being here and most would expect it of me. I'm very open about my sexuality and my friends know I am here and I've told some of them to read the stories etc. or to come find me here. My husband knows I'm here and often reaps the rewards from it, and he even knows about pmann so... Yeah...no biggy. Lit comes up in my life here and there like the weather does I guess.

Tell me the secret of how this happens......pleaaaaaaase

Yes!

They just wanted to be coddled and whine with lots of hand holding.

I'm not new to the site as I have been reading on and off for over a decade now, but new to the boards though. Finally decided to dip my toe in after creating an account eons ago. I've seen a lot of things I like, but quite a bit that I don't as well.

Still testing the water. We'll see how it goes.
