I want frosting. And cake. And cake and frosting.
Only I'm a Brit so technically I want cake and icing.
Lots of it.

(I have no idea if I'm talking sex, kinky fucking, weird freaky stuff or just cake. But I'm happy, nonetheless.)

:D

Thank you.
I was going to ask my kids but now that I see what the acronyms represent, I know that such concepts are an anathema to them and they would have been no help at all.

*grins*
And *grins* again.

It's Monday and time for another busy week.

A direct question today, how do you distinguish vanilla from kinky. What's it take for that line to be crossed

I think I'm probably pretty vanilla compared to some. Distinguishing between vanilla and kinky is relative to the beholder, I guess.

If you go outside the realm of plain, regular sex, you're delving into kinky. How far you go is just a level on that line. Adding toys, exhibitionism, bondage, etc., are all levels on the kinkiness line.

This.

If I have sex with a guy and he runs away screaming, he's vanilla. :D

And this made me grin.

I think sex is like cake. No, not like that all you cake loving fuckers. This is an analogy unrelated to your cake threads that I do not understand. For me, the sex is the cake part and the kink is frosting. Too much kink and it's all frosting and it's no good.

But that's just vanilla pmann.

And this.

Yes but sometimes even tho that frosting flower is WAY too much icing, you still have to eat it... you just have too. It is a special occasion you know.

And this too. Yes, sometimes ...

Cake and icing debates aside...
I'm not sure that there is a dichotomy of sex that could be distinguished as either vanilla or kinky. Even suggesting at what point the boundary is crossed does not allow for the vastly different and divergent perspectives of what acts may or may not comprise sex and sexual experiences for different people. Familial exposure, cultural and religious influences, personal preferences and direct experiences all shape our own perspectives. Heck, so does the most basic element, opportunity - actually having a partner with whom to have sex, in any form. Masturbation is a whole other domain. And fantasy yet another.

The closest I can come to distinguishing a difference is to label making love, where emotional bonds are nurtured and bodies shared in a generally gentle loving manner as vanilla sex. It's relaxed, comfortable, no surprises but perfectly satisfying, hopefully. Which would leave kinky to be when there is a strong focus on erotic elements rather than emotional, where there is a palpable mood created by what you and a sexual partner are doing with one another that heightens the level of sexual excitement, where a power dynamic may come into play, and the variety of positions and implements deployed varies.

Finally, lest this become an overly revealing and ultimately thread destroying rambling post, the so called sex industry and commercialisation of sex plays a huge part in our perspectives of vanilla and kinky sex. The promotion of kinky sex, requiring a variety of toys, is done to make kinky seem more mainstream but a bit risqué. Sex sells products.

I like some frosting. And sometimes I like more than others. Sometimes I just need a simple cake, i.e. boobies. Other times I need cream cheese frosting, i.e. Nigerian dwarfgoat-fucking.

Just kidding about the goatfucking.

I never purported to be wise man sitting in top of the mountain with all the answers. The OP's role here has always been to try and be provocative with questions and allow the residents Litiquette-ville to be their own muse and answer as they feel.

This thread would have died months ago if it was just me spouting off!

That's it?
You put up the big questions but provide so few insights, let alone answers.

OP's prerogative?

Point taken...however, us minions would like to know your thoughts on a myriad of posts!:D

And Dorothy wanted to get to Oz, too ;)

No one has all the answers and I appreciate you see yourself as a type of agent provocateur, but some occasional engagement in debate would not go unappreciated by your readership.

Enquiring minds want to know.

As for the Oz reference, perhaps we just have to..
"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!"

Careful ladies, he'll probably come out fighting. Remember what happened to Pandora :D
