“You’re killing me smalls.” - Sandlot

This came to mind immediately for me.

"Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good things ever die" also springs to mind from Shawshank.

I have also always liked "Ernest Hemingway once wrote, "The world is a fine place and worth fighting for." I agree with the second part." from Se7en.

I'm sure more will come to me, I like this question.

I am thirding “You’re killing me, Smalls!” First thing I thought of. How funny is that?!

“You shall not pass!” is the only LOTR quote I ever need.
“That’s just, like, your opinion, man,” is a favorite in my house.
“What would you say you do here?” from Office Space, another classic.

I could go on!
It’s funny because I suck at remembering movie plots but I can quote them all day...

Also, nobody puts baby in a corner.

I thought Napoleon Dynamite was the stupidest movie when I first saw it and yet it grew on me to the point where I quote it all the time:
"I still love technology. Always and forever."
"heck, yes!"
"Tina, you fat lard, eat your dinner!"

Followed closely by another movie I also thought was stupid the first time I watched it, Grandma's Boy...
"My grandma drank all my pot."
"Adiós turd-nuggets"
"How can he see me?"
"I want you to drink from my man faucet."

There's a few i can remember and a heap that will come to me, but here's just a couple.

You can't handle the truth - A few good men
You can do it - The Waterboy
I like salad - Benchwarmers
You're terrible Muriel - Muriels Wedding
That's going straight to the pool room
Tell him he's dreamin - Both from The Castle

There’s about a billion quotes I use, but some of the more used are:

“So I got that going for me . . . which is nice” Caddyshack
“It’s simplicity in all of its intricity” Curley - Three Stooges
“Nothing is over! Nothing!” First Blood
“This is a private residence, man” Big Lebowski (it’s surprising how often I’m able to work that one in)

Also, this moment of Kurt Russell in Tango & Cash is a great quote and very reminiscent of me: “This whole thing . . .

I may never stop, SMN. Back for a few more.

"This is heavy..." Back to the Future
"These go to 11." This Is Spinal Tap
"I live my life a quarter mile at a time." Fast and Furious

A few of my faves.

Did I stutter? ..Breakfast Club
Sell crazy someplace else. We're all stocked up here. ..As Good As It Gets
I'm glad he's single, because I'm going to climb that like a tree. ..Bridesmaids
You talkin' to me? ..Taxi Driver

And of course.... You had me at hello. 😆

I use these all the time, too!

You could drink whole milk of you wanted to.

I'm allergic 😭

I was sent this today and found it completely charming. A nice way to end this diabhail of a year.

I'm going to drop it off now.

A little early.

(Just in case I don't make it back in timely fashion for tomorrow. ;))

I'd seen that earlier in one of my feeds but hadn't watched it until just now. Too cool!!!

But I've got to tell you... I'm going to need a bigger crowbar and sledgehammer... Skywatch and all...

IT LOOKS SO REAL

Delightful, though. In it's own heralding the end of humanity kind of way....

Welcome to 2021 :)

A lot of people talking about how 2020 was the most horrid year ever.
I’ve had worse though!
And then chatter about the dawn of 2021 and, well, I woke up this morning feeling pretty much the same!
*shrugs*
It’s all kinda just ticks on a line to me. (Notches on a bedpost?)

So what kinda New Years person are you? Does it make you feel feelings? Do you celebrate it, go all out? Asleep before midnight? Wake up the next day pumped and ready to clobber a fresh calendar? :)

Morning, morning.
Watching the snow fall, a cup of hot espresso and some Lindt chocolates.
It’s a pretty great morning.

Ok, question time.
I’m a pretty big movie fan, so...

If you could only speak in movie quotes for the rest of your life, what would be the one quote you would use the most?
And then what are some of your ultimate favs?

No more yanky my wanky, the donger need food.

I’m more affected by Daylight Savings Time than New Years.
Although I like the idea of starting fresh, making promises and feeling renewed, nothing is different and I do enjoy laughing at the people who expect different results due to a new calendar.

But I also enjoy the fact that we put on a massive party and celebrate a ball dropping. We will celebrate anything. I like that about us.

I guess it is worth celebrating when a ball drops on one of the coldest nights of the year. Mine only seem to drop in the warmth.

I definitely celebrate, though fairly mildly these days. I think it's good to celebrate things, have fun, feel the highs, yada yada. But do I feel feelings about the turnover, fresh start, that kind of thing? Not really. It can be nice to think of it as a clean slate, but it's no cleaner than say August 23rd.

I'm not a "good riddance 2020" guy, I get how it was a bad year for many, but I've had worse. I can look back to a lot of good in 2020. I hope there's more of it this year for everyone.

I’m with the Canadian. 2020 wasn’t bad for me like for so many. I’m not big on the new year resolution thing. I feel like if I can’t do it in May, I can’t do it in January either.

I like that hotwords and his family/friends celebrate “ball dropping”. I picture a very awkward and embarrassed young man at the enter of the room while onlookers cheer on his descending testicles and entrance into manhood.

In my youth
I used to go to time square, get drunk, sometimes puff some ganja, party and try to have some wild sexual adventures. The times I didn't go to TimeSquare, I would be at a party or go clubbing.

Usually at a bar or a friends house blasting music.

Last couple of years, dress up, go to a restaurant, then go home. Wait for the ball to drop and pop champagne.

Last night I finished working my second 12 hour shift, went outdoor dining after work, went home, took a long hot shower, put on my best suit, waited for the ball to drop and popped the bubbly. Just wanted to look good and feel good, I was successful at both 😁

It is just another day. But since it is a 3 day weekend, I may actually get most of my weekly chores done for once. Shrugs...this holiday has no significance to me.

Well, 2020's mostly been crappy due to the shutdowns, lockdowns, and people losing their collective minds and civility. I've personally experienced worse years so the past ones just been more of an annoyance than anything else.

Insofar as the New Years' questions? I agree with Hotwords, Daylight Savings time is more of the yearly bump in the road.

I enjoy NYE get-togethers with friends, good food and music, and just being able to enjoy everyone's company. But some years end are quiet ones like this one was.

Overall I look at the New Year as being a big success just being alive and being able to do all of the daily life things.

This year has been more of an inconvenience, and I feel very blessed for that. I’ve had way worse years to muster through.

2021. A new year - more chapters to write, life to live, people to meet and memories to make. That’s how I see it.

No, I’m not all ready to rock and shake up the world today, it’s filthy Friday. But, since there was talk of balls above me, I do know that I’m quite good at draining them and look forward to more of that.
