Morning everyone. ☕

Are you a spur of the moment kind of person or prefer everything be planned out to the T?
Would it excite you or give you anxiety if someone said “it’s a long weekend, you’ve got 90mims to pack up. We’re driving 5-6hrs. Now, spin the bottle to see what direction we head.”?
Hello road trip.

I would hate that with the passion of a thousand suns.

Hello road trip.

I'm a big fan of the spur of the moment road trip. It's how I ended up in New Orleans for a very memorable Thanksgiving, touring Graceland on a New Year's Day after not having a date for NYE and countless weekend trips to the big city, the beach, the woods, taking ferries to the great white north, etc..

Like I said, I'm a fan. :D

What's with 90 minutes to pack for a long weekend? 20 minutes - out the door.

Ummmm, you’re kinda spontaneous.
Mmmhmm.... 😉

An excellent planner, I’ll agree with that.

😳🤭
Yeah, not happening.
*my stomach hurts I’m laughing so hard*

^^^ this is me too.

******
I’m a happy mix of both.
I’m all about a road trip, adventure and exploring.
Depending on which way that bottle spins I’ll know what to pack.
Yeah, I’ll plan out some vacations. We go camping a lot, so there’s always lists and prep work that needs to be done. But a lot of the National Parks are on first come with no reservations. It’s not my first rodeo on how it all works.
Last summer I somewhat not really planned a 2wks camping trip.
3 National Parks (Glacier National Park. Banff and Jasper NP in Canada)
No reservations anywhere.
I did research what camping supplies (hatchets, knives and food) I could bring over the border.
3500+ miles traveled with 90% of it non planned.
It was the best camping vacation I’ve ever had too.

LOL... Well, you'd know Trekka better than anyone else on the boards. But dang, too much planning on everything leads you to a place where spontaneity and just jumping in for a fun time becomes a thing of the past. :(

First of all, Dribble, I’m frothing at the mouth on your weight calculations. Yes. Mmhmm.

Portobello- Stellwagon Natl Marine Reserve; took a boat out of Boston harbor.

Aussie- you’re a stone cold maniac. ;)

And a point of order: I don’t plan every minute of a trip. That’s vacation nazi shit. I *research* where I’m going so I know what the rules are and what the options are. I try to learn a bit of the language and the culture, if it’s international. And - like my man Dribble noted- if I get there and spy something that looks awesome, I’ll go for it.

I don’t show up with a strict itinerary, people! I’m not *that* bad.

But I might buy tickets to a show ahead of time.
I might take a look at the subway map ahead of time.
And I sure as shit research neighborhoods so I know where I’m staying ahead of time.

SMN’s unplanned camping odyssey did give me fits last summer though 🤣 Homegirl drove to another country with nowhere to stay! No. Lol. I wouldn’t enjoy that!

I did enjoy her pics afterwards.

And for the record, I’ve been to jasper and banff (planned, reservations, etc, natch) and she *did* pick my brain before she left. I even remember sending her some trail names and this weird planning device called a MAP! 😁

TnMan, I promise, I’m fun on a trip. I just wanna know where I’m going first, and learn about it. I’m a nerd.’

And if my BF told me to pack a bag because he’s whisking me away for the weekend to somewhere nearby, of course I could handle that. But if you’re gonna drive six hours away from my house, then your choices are basically due north, or slightly northwest. Unless you wanna drive straight into the sea. :) ...that would be easy to pack for. Tank top shorts hoodie sundress flip flops and bathing suit.

I took the same/similar boat as trekka last may (late in the month). It was insane. We had so many breaches, it was crazy. Had one surface and poke his head fully out of the water about 20 yards off the starboard side like he wanted to check us out.

The say you are usually lucky to see one breach. We saw 25 minimum.

You madcap, throw-caution-to-the-winds, road trippers are kinda freaking me out.

I mean, enjoy yourselves, by all means, but….

*clutches pearls*

Happy Monday! 🥳
Let’s talk about something deep to start off the week.
Like Marianas Trench deep.
This is, indeed, meant to make you a feel a little discomfort as you answer.
And
It’s ok if you need time to collect your thoughts...

Beatles? Or Stones?

While I enjoy them both, I’ve been a huge stones fan since I was little, love their stuff from the late 60s into the early 70s everything from dead flowers, she’s like a rainbow, the naughty star star to sympathy for the devil, honky tonk girls and you can’t always get what you want, they always had a bit more of an edge

Neither. I like The Beatles better. And that's not to say that both groups don't have good songs. I have a couple of Beatles' songs I really like. But overall, I'm just not into either.

I'll take The Eagles.

And here I was thinking I was going to ease into this Monday...

For me it’s Beatles, no hesitation. I like the stones but love the Beatles. With the stones I like songs, lots of them! But with the Beatles I’ll listen to any album front to back, they just speak to me.

Happy Monday! 🥳
*snip*

Beatles? Or Stones?

A little of both. There's a lot of the Beatles stuff that I'll cringe at now and some of the Stones stuff has lost its luster because I've heard it so many times. But overall I believe the Stones have better withstood the test of time.

Beatles? Or Stones?

They are both great and in continual rotation. I agree that The Rolling Stones' songs have stood up better to time and many could be released as new today and do really well. But I'll always favor the variety of The Beatles.

This!

Wow!
It’s neck and neck (and neck)!
That’s....

2 votes Stones
2 votes Beatles
2 votes Neither (I saw Neither live last year. They rocked!) ;)

I'm in the neither camp. I agree with Pmann: both have some good songs, but I think they're both overrated.

This also raises another question: If there isn't a didgeridoo is it even a band?

Beatles if I have a gun to my head.

Never liked the Stones at all. I appreciate the talent, never got into them.

If I had to choose it’d be The Stones but I’m not a huge fan of either.

I’d take Fleetwood Mac

I’m partial to the berimbau, myself.... ;)

Of the two I like the berimbau better, but I also like the sound of a bullroarer

Actually, I just like saying didgeridoo.
Didgeridoo, kangaroo and pelican are three of my favorite words. I try to work them into every conversation.

But I’m really more partial to the theremin, if we’re talking unusual instruments.

Do you say those words in a terrible Crocodile Dundee accent?

How about words you hate saying? Pamphlet. God, I hate the way that word feels when you say it. :(

As far as the question of the day - I'll take the Rolling Stones if I had to pick one of those two. I saw them in concert and had a great time smoking weed with the nicest Canadian fellas. Plus, "Wild Horses".

But I'm with the other lovelies in the Fleetwood Mac camp. God yes.
