Today, let’s talk about unlikely crushes. This is a discussion that I’ve had with a friend before... who are the people that you like that may not necessarily be traditionally attractive? But you’re drawn to them anyway. It doesn’t mean they’re ugly. Just maybe not beautiful in the traditional sense.

Steven Tyler is a good example (not for me, but for the ladies), though his charisma is an obvious reason. Remove Steven from Aerosmith and place him as your mechanic... you’re creeped out.

For me, it’s Adele. I think she’s gorgeous. Some people don’t. As well, Vanessa Bayer. She’s awkward and geeky as hell.

Oh, ffs Pmann.
Adele is not an unlikely crush.
Since when.

You’re an unlikely crush!

And I would clear the shitty coffee and fake creamer off that little table in the waiting room at jiffy lube in one fell swoop like hell-kite to fuck Steven Tyler the mechanic.

How about a long haired plumber with great brows?

Two things...

The unexpected conversation at 3am. Music that takes my breath away, with lyrics to match. The beach.

On to the crushing comment.

Girl! Yes! He's on my "free pass" list.

However, my crush...

Cher. Say what you will (actually, don't), but after I saw Moonstruck, I couldn't watch her enough.

Then ten years later, she went and did this.
I didn't know if I wanted to be her or lick her (I was in my 20s. It was a confusing time).
Still. This.

And in her 70s, she still looks hot.

But mostly because she says shit like this...

I love this answer

First off, I love what you posted up there. And it’s never too late to wear leather pants and hop around with big hair.

Slingin the axe at the same time is bonus points.

Just please post vids.

And you’ve unearthed one of my biggest unlikely (yet probably entirely predictable) crushes. Men who can fix shit.

Jesus Christ, if Steven Tyler was a mechanic, plumber, electrician, roofer, HVAC guy, I’d have probably found him by now and blown him in his truck at least thrice.

If he can build me a pergula, can I barrow him too please?

imho, few people see her that way. i’m down with that because it improves my chances! :D

PS - clear your history/cookies? maybe that’s a reset.

I'm gonna disagree with you there. I never make it thru all 7 or 8 or whatever seasons of Weeds w/o her. She's fire.

Wow. It’s clearly been far too long. While things seem to be turning around here a bit seems like this thread could use a little guidance from the OP. So, here goes:

As a cool spring rain falls today, it makes me think of glass half full /half empty. Sure, it ruins a weekend day where I’d love to be outside but it will help green things up, soak in some grass seed, and refresh things in general. But why do we tend to look at things in binary terms. Good or bad, sad or happy, can’t things be both? Can’t that which is A also be B? Life is full of gray, rarely is there black and white so why are we so predisposed to forcing it?

Awww. Thank you. I’m very flattered.

Adele would be an unlikely crush for many. Again, I didn’t say it means this person is unattractive. There are a lot of things to like about her, but she’s crass, she smokes like a chimney and she seems batshit crazy. So, those things would make her unlikely for me.

But I love her nonetheless. However, she looked better before the weight loss. I’m always happy when people lose weight. That’s amazing. But she went too far, in my unimportant opinion. She just doesn’t quite look like herself.

You know I share well with others :)

Gentlemen, it’s science.

Is a *pounce* appropriate here?

:)

I agree with you. Life is all about the gray.

I think we’re predisposed to categorize into white/black from our caveman days. Will this berry kill me? Or not? Is there a bear in there? Or not?

Because people need to feel comfortable and grey isn't comfortable. Some of us like the grey area because we've learned how to communicate...it makes the grey fun.

A well timed pounce is always welcomed :). But the bear in the cave could be 6months of food, too. And the berry, there always has to be a first mover back in the caveman days. I mean, somebody had to try it first, al though I suspect they too many cues from animals, what they ate, what they avoided.

And what cavewoman didn’t appreciate a bouquet of pretty flowers from her caveman no matter their toxicity if eaten?

Gray is where it's at.

Well, actually; it's is located directly before the at, and that's a trash sentence.

I Like gray areas of attraction, as well. While I'm very much a fan of the stereotypical female beauty equation, I also find women who exhibit more masculine traits attractive. Not necessarily in the "butch" category; but those who maybe are more linear or triangle shaped than hourglass. Maybe they have a strong jaw. Muscles.
Gymnasts, triathletes, Crossfitters, powerlifters...all tend to flip my switch. But I'm into trans women, so there's that.

Hey Ruby, always nice to be seen.

But binary likely means there’s a 50% chance of it not being favorable. Then again, I’ve always thought I could have my cake and eat it, too.

A perfect example of enjoying the gray. There’s always something there if one just looks close enough.
