I don’t see anywhere in adult life more like it than this place.

They don't have a break room where you work?

I think, like sexybritches said, you just have to jump in and start talking. Sometimes nobody will respond, but I think that's mostly because they're busy looking at other threads, or they just forget, or they're doing something in real life and get distracted.

Lit is what you make it.

There have been many times where I will post something that I think is me being brilliant and nobody responds. And I think, 'Come on, that was funny as hell!' But then, every now and then, I get a pm from someone saying they like my posts.

There are no cool kids. We all suck! :D

I really wish Lit had a feature where you could like or thumbs up an individual post. I’ve laughed many times at something you or others have posted, but it seems silly and a little attention whoring to quote the post just to LOL it if you don’t have a witty response to it. 🤷*♀️

What about erection emojis? We could choose between four or five different phases from flaccid to completion to rate a post? I like this idea. I would have clicked "full boner" for your post. :p

And for the ladies we could have a wetness rating system. Your posts would always get the highest 💦💦💦💦💦 5 droplet rating. 😂

I was going to ask another question, but this topic of high school that Trekka suggested just sort of naturally formed. So, let's go with this. What's the saying from Dazed and Confused? The great thing about high school girls is that, the older I get, they stay the same age? #Registry

How do you feel high school behaviour reflects itself here? Do you find it more high school than other aspects of your adult life? How does it compare to your actual high school experience?

< I try to be kind and friendly to all until they give me a reason not to be. >

This^. I even make a point to try and be inclusive, if we're talking threads where I actively participate.

Dude, you are one funny f**ker. :D

Hahahaha! I think you might have just call me a silly attention whore? I am ALWAYS quoting his posts and LOLing!

I'm going to sit over here in the corner and sulk!

(Totally kidding, btw. :D)

Besides. I oooooown the silly! :p

Ill just listen to the music 👍

I don't really see Lit as like high school. Sure, there are some groups or particular people that act (at least IMHO) in what could be considered a negative, high-school stereotypical kind of way. But, you know, just don't hang out with 'em.

Hmmm. It seems less like high school at Lit. More high school-y than real time.

Lit is better than my high school experience. One of the great things about Lit is that you can leave when you're not enjoying yourself. :cattail:

I had an odd high school experience. I was in survival mode for many of the later years. I had to focus on my academics and my family. I was the primary breadwinner for my siblings and their legally appointed guardian by the age of 17. I didn't have a chance to be a typical teenager and therefore I can't really draw conclusions to how lit and high school relate and/or differ, except through the lens of a mom.

I honestly don't "get" the drama. I don't see it here often, and I don't understand it. I'm so oblivious to almost everything because "real life".

Honestly- I think some people invest too much here. Especially if it's affecting their mental health. That's easy for me to say because I figured out whatever balance works for me, but these questions highlight to me that I definitely don't come fuck around on lit on the same way others do.

This place is definitely more like high school than other aspects of my life. I see the rumor mill going strong and people who only hear their friend’s side of a story piling on whoever their friends don’t like. It would almost be comical except that spreading lies about people is hurtful and not very nice.

My high school experience was way more pleasant than some of the crap I’ve dealt with here.

Yes and unlike high school, you can utilize the ignore feature which has improved my experience here. Blissfully ignorant and all that...

I found myself privy to this^ type of thing once. Indirectly, not personally. Someone I knew found themselves a target. I was shocked. I had no idea that type of thing was going on under the surface.

It was incredibly ugly. And I mean, incredibly. :(

I suppose, really, now that I think about it, that experience did color my Lit view. The knowledge of that stuff going on does make me a little more aloof in my interactions.

I'm grateful no-one I've befriended is party to that type of behavior.

And let’s not forget the Litsters who try to get all your dirty little secrets out of you. I wonder if anyone who participates on this thread is like the person in high school who knew all the gossip....😉🤔😂

I’ll wade in, high school style. I was popular, a jock, in the cool, elite group. I was fully aware, and embraced it as these who my friends were. Some of which I am still friends with today. I was mean or rude to other kids, they had their groups or non-groups I had mine. I’m sure there were some that flaunted it but that was never my style. For me it, my group was the kids that all had common interests, were in a lot of the same classes and who were involved in the same sports. From my perspective it just was what it was. I’ve had the chance to talk with other kids from high school and have brought up the subject and the resounding commonality is that each group had their mean kids, their funny kids, their super social kids.

This. ^^

High School was a long time ago, I'm a different person today then I was then. That's how life is supposed to work out I thought, we grow up, gain experience, acquire education and blend the both together for maturity and some degree of greater wisdom.

Lit, to my view, is the same, naive idealism and foolish recklessness that over time becomes more pragmatic and realistic.

So, I really don't get the recurrence of the lit is so high school topic from the folks with a grudge or others wanting to turn it into a twisted humor kind of thing.
