Firstly, Sultans of Swing is a masterful piece of guitar work. My older sister was trying to teach me that, long before I ever started to branch out of bluegrass and folk to appreciate it. I don't think she plays it anymore; she moved into heavier stuff. Her band plays Godsmack, Alice in Chains, Halestorm and other stuff that's off my spectrum

This song by Uncle Lucius, if you're willing to listen through to the guitar pull, shows how much influence Sultans has bestowed on many musicians.

Myself.
I openly admit to being spread far too thin in regard to hobbies... Something is always in neglect because I've too many.

I have boats and fishing gear, which lately are collecting dust. I love being on the water; whether inshore salt water, or fresh.

Hunting has always been an enormous part of my life. Circumstances too lengthy to detail kept me away this past season...first season I've not taken deer in nearly 20 years.

Cycling. Just got off my road bike, in fact.

Running...i do that more for necessity than enjoyment.

I have an 1800 square foot garage. Gym equipment takes up a third. I dabbled in cross fit a few years; despite my infamous introversion. Now, I do it at home, so whichever side of my persona shows up to work out; no one need be uncomfortable.

I have a 71 Charger 440 in that garage; currently awaiting me to finish an intake manifold and carb swap..i just haven't felt the urge to have grease under my nails of late.

I'm a pretty avid shooter as well. Not competitively, though I'm urged to do so on the regular by a few locals. I just recognize at this point I'm spread too thin. Something's gotta go any time I start something new these days!

Oh, yeah...i started guitar when I was 7. Self taught, excepting a few pointers from mah seeester, to whom I'm eternally grateful for telling me to turn my E string down to D every chance I get.
But I may go months and not touch a guitar.

What do you all spend your time doing? What makes you happy? What passes your time? Do you do it professionally? Why do you do what you do? Is it a love/hate thing? Are you good?

I'd have to say my kids. That's what I spend all my time doing. OMG!! They make me so, so, so, so, so, so, so happy!! Not the same as exercise, but it does involve running- running them here, there, everywhere, Anything I can do to make their lives just *that* much more perfect. Because I am good at it. There's only love, no hate.:heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:

I WISH someone paid me to read. I’m awfully good at it. I know all the big words everything.

I took lessons and played ukulele for a while, but my hands stopped cooperating after my car accident.

This is interesting, particularly so given the increasing popularity of audiobooks. It has me wondering how such narrators end up doing such work. After all, there are only so many actors, so they can't be doing all of the work, can they?

What's the best advice someone has given you? Sometimes we are taught lessons by unlikely people and unlikely places. Friends. Enemies. Hell, even teachers have taught me things.

A girl once told me, after I was being a smug know-it-all, "Pmann, you might be the smartest person in the room, but you're not smarter than everyone in the room." Meaning, my life experience isn't greater than everyone's collective experience. It stuck with me. Because of that advice, you have the docile, humble pmann you have today instead of an arrogant ass.

You are welcome for a very original, thought provoking question.

My grandfather gave me this pearl of wisdom as his final words to me
"Aussie, never be afraid to be the one who loves the most".

It was his greatest gift to me.

My Mum once told a late teenage me "Don't worry if it looks too big. It will fit".

She was right.

Yeah, Yoda told me this over lunch once:

“Do or do not. There is no try.”

Seriously, it's profound -- try it.

As an aside, I think I'm experiencing *sanitation* of a childhood story.

Not that I am up on this stuff, but I happened to read Chicken Little to a toddler earlier. I COULD SWEAR the previous ending involved all the fowl meeting a duplicitous character named Foxy Loxy who tricked them into being dinner.

This version they go to the king (you know, their local one. :p) and he finds the rabble rousing acorn in Chicken Little's tail.

That's not right, right?

*gasps*

Wait. Is the clever fox selling part of his stash for overly exorbitant prices?

On Amazon?

With so much mixed poultry what else can he do??? Surely he'd never consider donating to a food bank after breaking down his friends and all??? Right???

That would just be wrong. Right? I mean what about good, old fashioned, honest to God capitalism? What about profit? I mean, those friends gave their lives!

Albeit involuntarily. :p

Capitalism, coupled with avarice and greed during a disaster. Who knew? 😜
