I've always thought that was a Litiquette related problem. What is the proper Litiquette? Start one or two threads and invest the time to keep them vibrant and alive (if we don't say it often enough Chained, thanks for this thread, great job)? Or start a thread every time you feel the whim? I'd say start a few and invest in them, but that's just me.

Yeah, I have to say, this is my philosophy. if I start a thread, I feel responsible for it. To tend it. To try to grow it. To have it be something like what I hoped. To be a good hostess. To be appreciative when others post on them. But all that seems so very old fashioned and formal.

I don't mind those who start threads every other minute. Some of them.are such good ideas they just take off as if they had a life of their own and in one case I was asked to feed and tend a thread started by one such thread starter, so much so it 'feels' like one of my own.. lol

And yes. I echo Paul in thanking Papa Chained for being so diligent to this thread. :rose:

What about those those threads to pop up daily. Some create new threads as often as they post. I can't do that, my brain is too focused. It's hard enough sorting out a new topic but a new thread seems more daunting. But i suppose it's really not. Hell, I'm on a ramble today, apparently it's a dream.

For me, starting a new tread holds a great deal of personal connection. If it doesn't do wel, I take it personally. It if does, I'm elated. For that reason, I really think about the idea before jumping and starting something new. Depending on the thread type, I am very involved, even going as far as sending thank you messages to people who post, especially if they are a new poster on a thread that i have started. It's deeply personal. Like me putting myself out there.

There are thousands of threads, that don't even make a start. It's like members, how many just sign up for 1 day, they membership list is full of 1 dayers :D

Not quite the kind *question* I was expecting.

Buuuut -

Sure. A pulse is generally considered good. Generally.

Hmmm, no question again today.

I'm not a deputy, so I can't step in for the chief. What to do ... what to do ...?

A question about the chief! It's unprecedented, so surely there are no rules about it. :D

If you could have Papa C answer one question, honestly and in full detail, what would it be? And why?

Hmmm. I'm not sure I could limit myself to one question....

Howzabout you start us off, Missy.

Lead by example.

I would ask for a detailed description of him. Height, weight, body type, hair color, eye color, skin tone ... facial hair? Chest hair? Tattoos? Piercings? Scars?

Why? I like a visual. :D

Dang, girl!

No way can I top that! And not just because my brain is FRIED from a particularly harrowing week.

Excellent question work, Ms. Pout.

Excellent question work, indeed.

Okay, Chained. Pony up. :p

I like ponies.

What question do you get asked most frequently that you are tired of answering? Do you still answer honestly, do you embellish, or have you started making things up for the sake of self-entertainment?

"Are you related to ...(insert name of person I've never met)?"

No, I don't answer honestly anymore. I tried it many times, saying, "No, no relation," or "No, I don't know him/her." It always seemed to end with the person I'm speaking with telling me ALL ABOUT the random stranger I'll never meet. Now, I just say, "Yes, he/she is my cousin." Shuts 'em right up.

“Why don’t you send me a pic?”

Nope. I am not going to send you a pic because we’ve swapped a few PMs.

No reason to lie, but now that you’ve given me the idea I might start making up weird excuses. :D

Just not one to hand out pics. Unless we are….well, you know. For months. then…maybe. Not likely, but…maybe. :p

Once in a blue moon, when my mood is juuuust right, I might post something on the board. Even then it’s not naughty. I don’t think I’ve ever even snapped a naughty shot.

I’m a pic prude. Sue me.

Perhaps a question.

Nuance and subtly, do you prefer that to more upfront and direct. No "it depends" answers, overall, what do you prefer?

I'll take up front and direct, but this is Lit, where you usually get the other :)

Upfront and direct, please. Subtly tends to slip right past me. I have the attention span of a kitten that's been rolling in a pile of catnip. It is never wise to assume I'll take a hint.

Dive right in! I prefer the direct and upfront.

For me, it's a communication thing. If you wrap your message in nuance and subtlety you increase the chances that the message is going to miss. It's not going to get interpreted correctly and is only going to cause confusion and disappoint.

Go straight in. Be clear, crisp and concise.

Straight up, please! I don't speak subtle-ese. Giving or receiving.

That whole crisp, clear, concise thing Paul C mentions? Now that needs work. I am a rambler, a digresser, a lose-my-way-in-a-labyrinth of words-er.

But it's upfront and direct rambling! :cattail:

If you're a fan of the flirty innuendo, the suggestive banter, the coy hint....

I am soooooooooooo not your girl. :p

I want and give out direct 99% if the time. Subtle slips in when I'm either tired or feel it's not really that important. I'll admit to a 1% flaw, but no more.

Oh, nice seeing you back. Shows a bit of clevage because I can.

Nuance and subtly would be my preference as they offer much opportunity for deliciously mannered conversations to engage the mind, enliven the senses, and cleverly and delicately bring to fruition the intended outcome.

Up front and direct is devoid of romance and eloquence.

Note my subtle bump of this thread.:)
