Like a lot of other responders I am no likely to notice PMs are turned off. Rare that I PM first, but if I do, it's always because we've already interacted somehow on the the board.

No citations for a misread but blatant highjacking and shenanigans and I get my book out

Ponders possible shenanigans. I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow, seems a waste if I don't utilize all excess naughty. Opps, there went those angel wings.

Back to the thread roots, when you see someone has their PM's turned off are you just as likely to interact with them or less likely? I understand why some have chosen to turn them off but when you see it, do you tend to avoid all together or engage as normal.

If someone has their PMs disabled, I shrug and go back to pestering them on the threads. You want everything public? You got it. Doesn't bother me.

Define shenanigans. I want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Like others, I wouldn't even notice.

There was a time mine turned off for stretches on occasion.

Looking at the quiet sunrise, is there anything better than the promise of a new day?

Night time refresher.

Just curious if there's anyone here who knows of a person who has tried but is unable to pass the driving exams and not been issued a license? The test aren't preventing bad drivers from getting on the roads. Couldn't we save a ton of tax money and just give anyone over the age of 21 a driver's license. Anyone between 16 - under goes a battery of testing/practice that does a better job of creating better drivers than what's out there today.

Would you rather be introspective, contemplative, reflective, or just happy go lucky? And it wouldn't be an answer if there wasn't a "why" rationale included.

Ummm....

The written exam wasn't an issue, but I might not have exactly passed the driving portion the first time. Not exactly.

I WAS NERVOUS

And, sure. I'm on board with practically anything that has the potential to clear out the lines at the DMV.

So, I do know some people, but it seems arbitrary to me (and maybe, per EN, they were just "nervous."). You're certainly right that there are crappy drivers out there. I would say that I'd be reluctant to adopt your strategy because I think a lot of people would just wait until 21, and never get any instruction and it would get even worse.

I think the bigger problem is actually that we don't "retest." People cram for the test, take it, pass it, and then never really retain any of it. But, as you mention, it would be expensive to institute more testing. But why not charge for it? So, you want your licence renewed? It's $25 (instead of the $5 or $10 I think it is currently), and you have to pass a written test every 5 years and a driving test every 10. I don't know...

This is interesting. Ideally, a mix of both. I assume though, you're asking for a dichotomy. I think that a completely "happy-go-lucky" with no self awareness (introspection/reflection), would be kind of awesome for me, but probably totally shitty for the people around me. With introspection/reflection comes empathy and understanding.

I guess I would go with introspective/reflective.

Happy go lucky.

I am the other three until my ears bleed and close acquaintance threaten to shun me in the streets. Partners of the more intimate variety may, on occasion, toying with thoughts of violence.

Ignore me. I might've woken in a bit of a mood. :D

Oh. Why. Hmmm. It would have to be easier, wouldn't it? Think of all that mental time you'd save for doing something else if you were the happy go lucky type.

This^. No retesting. Of course if it was required, more DMV issues. Catch-22.
