I would go but it would be a very long commute :D

I just don't see too many people in the one spot in the Aussie thread and getting together in the US well as I said, Long commute. However if it was planned out well I might consider a holiday around it. :)

I’d go, given enough notice and assuming there were other attendees I was motivated to meet. A big, random gathering with people I don’t know or like would probably not get me to mark my calendar. No social anxiety, just not that social.

*shrug*

I need way more alone time than I manage to get. ;)

< I don't get along with everyone and those one or two would almost assuredly suggest that a donnybrook would be in the making and that would be a reason that I might not. I like having fun, I don't go looking for fights. >

I'm in! It would be nice of course to meet some of the cool people I've met here and the strange ones would be entertaining. I would love to see it turn into a giant donnybrook. I imagine people throwing drink cups and screaming which never fails to entertain me. (In truth though I've found people are far better behaved in person then online - largely because in person there's more of a real risk of getting popped in the snout for being a total butthead.)

The pseudo-doms and imaginary alphas are quite an entertaining bunch. I think the GB folks would be very entertaining. In short, it would be fun, big or small. I've been to a variety of online meet ups over the years – both from professional forums and from the more personal forums of other sites. The trick to a successful meet up is the same - the better organized the better and you really need a set of good hosts/hostesses to pull the wallflowers into the fun. (Or gently coax them, whichever works).

I have attended several such events. The ones that I participated in were generally cordial and there was a whole lot LESS sex than most people imagine.

I think one of these if in a convenient location would be a lot of fun, it would certianly be easier if a few folks I know a bit better we're also going. But I have a feeling the attendees (or invitees) would be pretty self selecting. Most people here are fun, open and interesting and we at least have this place as some common ground! Drinks with new friends or something more.. Either way, Fun to get to know each other irl...

I'd absolutely go. But if no one I knew was attending, I'd need to talk one of them into it. I'm a terrible introvert and there's nothing worse than walking into a gathering alone.

I'd go with you and hold your hand. ;)

I went to a professional message board meet-up once. I found it awkward; then again I do get nervous and tend to burrow into a metaphorical hole at such things, such as wedding receptions. So honestly, even overcoming logistics and misgivings, such a meet might not be the best medium for me.

None of that. I'll give you a virtual kick in the pants and hold your hand since BB's are full. You are going. ;)

I'd really like to host one of these at the beach house at the Outer Banks. Always thought that would be cool.

I'm with BB: date, time, and GPS coordinates, please :D

I'm bringing my BF. He's a dollbaby. Plus I highly recommend his right hand 😂

And I'm dragging Aussie and Suz and SMN by the hair if I have to.

I think it would be fun to meet the RL people behind the online personas. It sounds like the makings of a great Netflix documentary.

I'm game! My vote is for Colorado. Yes, it's a bit West and not quite smack dab center for you East-coasters, but has all the amendies to suit everyone's fancy.

Apparently size does matter ;)

In the spirit of trying new things complete the following sentence:

If I had it to do all over again, I would___________

A bit late, I know, but this one just went straight to the heart.

I would have learned to accept that no matter how much you believe the good in others, sometimes it's just not there, especially if they don't believe it in themselves. That no matter how good, loving, selfless, loyal, respectful, generous, forgiving, helpful, and kind you are, it will be returned to you, but not always from the ones you hoped it would.

Acceptance of this is the path that leads to less heartache.

Faith is what keeps your hope alive that all will be returned to you, if you just keep being all of these beautiful things.

Happy New Year, y'all. :rose:

...I'd be less keen on a convention for hundreds but might consider drinks in a small venue.

seconded. As others have said, it'd depend on how many I knew were going.

I'm glad I could be edjumacational

If I was younger, I'd completely go for the reasons you mentioned which are opposite of what I said originally. I used to like me a good scrap, literally or verbally.

Sidebar... do you think the Hulk/Bruce Banner (if such a person existed), would qualify as a pseudo-dom or imaginary alpha?

I have attended several such events. The ones that I participated in were generally cordial and there was a whole lot LESS sex than most people imagine.

I wouldn't go for "anticipated" sex or any at all for that matter. My oldest bro is the big slut, me, I've always been the exact opposite.

**************************************************************

It's funny that chained up's hypothetical situation has turned into a "how many people would really go?"

for any real planned party, I've driven (I don't like to fly) over a thousand miles for a meet and greet. As long as there are people I "know" that are there (and I have quite the compendium of people's pics who have posted on Lit.), I'll reaffirm, I'd go.

A Saturday morning quick hitter: if you know it's going to happen would you rather it happen sooner rather than latter or is there an advantage in waiting for it? Yes, I know that it depends on what "it" is but then the question becomes super easy to answer.....

if I knew (it's) going to happen would I rather it happen sooner rather than latter...

it's = ripping off a band-aid - better done sooner than later
it's = going to the bathroom - unless you have a diaper fetish, better done sooner than later

edit:
it's = responding to a traffic light turning red - better done sooner than later

it's = answering these questions - sometimes it's better to answer later than sooner. You can see the way others are interpreting a question that looks nonsensical at first glance.
