At what point are you pushed to action?

The standard I walk past is the standard I accept. If I know I cannot accept it, I know I cannot just walk past. That push to action may be strong but the outcomes may vary both in terms of effort and effect.

yes. I believe it was queen victoria that set the standards that we generally live by today, but even then people need to feel they are breaking rules to feel content.

It's kind of like literotica, there are rules against posting pics (to simplify) but who adheres to that? the people that abide by the rules, while the rest get a much needed adrenaline rush from "breaking the rules and seeing how far/long they can get away with it."

Without rules, rule breakers would be far less friendly to live with. Therefore, my point is, morals (like rules), are needed for people who thumb their noses at such conventions. The trouble is, society gets used to the weight of morals and therefore, new morals need to be reassigned every 40 years or so.

People need to rebel against something.

There's much worse said on this site, that's for sure.

The morals of society are evolving. As a new generation sets the tone, of course things will be different. It's not always a matter of good or bad, just different. We're constantly learning, constantly improving, constantly making mistakes. Value systems aren't being passed down through generations as they used to, and that leads to generational disconnect. It's probably more apparent than ever, as we are more connected to each other than ever. It's the same pattern as it has always been, just amplified by the interwebs.

I'm a toucher, however will refrain to a handshake for most first meets. I recall kissing one person this year on our first encounter, however we'd gotten to know each other a little before we meet in person and I already considered him a friend. I err on the side of warmth, without accidentally offending someone. An upper arm pat or handshake usually does the trick.
