Unscheduled day off yesterday. Got to do that every once in awhile.

Happy Friday everyone.

i am the king of first impression snap judgements. It's a huge blind spot for me but it's just how I roll. What blindspots do you have that you choose to live with?

For me it's politics in general. It's not that I don't care about the state of our world but it's all so dark and terrible. If I meet someone and they launch into politics, on either side, I'm going to mentally note that they aren't someone I'd want to chat with again.

I'm super sensitive. I have a hard time not taking things too personally. I can get so blinded by my own feelings, that I can fail to see what's really going on with the other person.

But I don't choose to live with it. I work on it constantly.

Speaking of taking things personally... EN, ya made me blush ^up there :)

OMG! This^. How did it not occur! I am extremely sensitive. Far more so than I appear on the surface. My tendency is to withdraw, and squash the hurt down.

I also choose to work on it. Striving to be fair, to give the other person's POV space, see their needs. That helps. I refuse to be a slave to my weaknesses, no matter the struggle.

........I feel like a should make a speech of something. :p

And, it's true, missy. :cattail:

I will admit that I glaze over a bit during some of the long, detailed posts. Unless they're of the male bi-sexual storytelling nature. ;)
Those are getting harder and harder to come by

LOL! I am in the middle! Extreme left OR extreme right and my brain just shuts right off. :D

Being clear, I'm not talking about the right, I'm talking about Trump. Him and his cabinet personally and politically. He's corrupt as fuck and I hate him and the insane fridge elements of his supporters. I have plenty of folks that identify as Republican as friends and family. We don't always agree but we get along fine.

I don't get super intense or crazy about it. I just care about people's well-being and rights. I write letters and make phone calls. That's not any kind of flip-side, that's just me trying to be a good person and contribute to the world. :)

I don't know what blindspots I have. I'm sure I have them. But it's impossible to know what you don't know. You know?

My problems are more of the habit and willpower variety. "This ended horribly last time, I should stop...later."

Hear that Default?

We made a difference here.

Our work here is done.

Wow, you're right. It's time to take this show on the road. Might I suggest the Hershey highway?:D

But seriously, I was ecstatic after the first night when the ladies told us they had to go bang their husbands, boyfriends, vibrators, whatever. That was all I needed to hear. Now that we're at the top there's only one place to go. Down. On each other
These gay jokes are just so goddamn easy:D

So there's been some discussion around regarding threads that have been closed down and posts not following Lit rules. Now I'm all for trying to abide by the rules, but will also admit to never having read them as thoroughly as I probably should. But the question I pose is this: who's responsible for rule busting posts on a thread, the poster or the OP of the thread? And as a secondary question how much effort do you put into being compliant with your posts?

I think the OP is expected to ask posters to edit if/when they break the rules. I don't do it, but I think that's what is expected.

When I first started posting I did what others did. I posted based on what I saw others posting. I assumed I was good, then threads I'd created started disappearing.
Now, I make an effort to stay on the good side of the law.

Of course, there are exceptions. I break as many rules as I can in here because it's fun to watch you flash your badge. I secretly hope to push you far enough that you "make it rain" citations. One of these days ...:D

Much like VT, when I started posting pics I was following along with what I had seen on other threads. I saw no warnings or reprimands and the threads were very active, so I figured what was being posted somehow fell into the forum guidelines.

I've also had several threads shut down. The first time was probably because my own ignorance of the rules. After that it was because of things other people posted. So now I do ask people to edit or remove posts that are against the rules just because I'm tired of starting over. Most people are good about it if asked to change their post.

So, now I kinda want to see Papa C slap some handcuffs on VT. :D

It's a little silly to expect the OP to police their thread when they have no tools to do so. It's not like you can edit a post on a that you started if someone screws up.
I know the rules. I haven't had a thread shut down (yet), but I also seem to keep in good company of those who play fair and don't piss others off.
Like everything in life, it's all about education. Make a case, state the rules, and let the shenanigans continue.

I don't really follow rules because I don't really post a lot of pics or have many threads. So yeah, I dunno.

Glad I could contribute! :p

I agree! I tried to make that point here in a thread started by one of the Mods, but my post appeared to attract only tumbleweeds. Maybe I missed the point of that thread — I'm not sure.

Nah, you didn't.

If they read the rules carefully, they'd understand that uploading explicit and copyright content is prohibited, and with good reason.

But I agree wholeheartedly with your post. There's no possible way an OP can police a thread. It's ridiculous to assume they can.

What's interesting, is the person who started the thread you linked to is also the person that spurred today's question (ooh, look at me being in on the gossip for once). S/he has a bone to pick about something or someone. Not sure what it is. I don't really care, either.

I guess we all like to whip out our shiny badges from time to time. Oh and Aussie, putting VT in handcuffs for bad behavior just might reinforce her bad behavior rather than deter her.

What else do we all like? Is there such a thing as universial pleasure? Certainly no one can dislike a sunrise or a sunset in and of themselves. Or a puppy, tough to not smile when you see one. And then of course there is the universal pleasure of having an orgasm.

Yes Virginia, there are universal pleasures. :)

Here are a few that come to mind...

1. Fresh baked cookies
2. Boobies
3. Receiving praise- I know praise makes some people uncomfortable, so I think the manner in which it is given varies widely from person to person. But it does the soul good and can totally change your outlook..
4. Jax from Sons of Anarchy
5. The way a baby's head smells
6. A sweet goodnight kiss

I would like to amend #1 to also include fresh baked bread

I would also like to add: either soundtrack album to the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. I know I'm a comic dork, but for those of us of a certain age, those songs bring back warm fuzzy memories :)

Ohhhhhh, yes on the fresh baked bread.

Of the other, I have no first hand knowledge but defer to your comic dork wisdom. :)

Only one way to find out, Sheriff Chained. ;)

Universal pleasures:

A baby's laugh
An ice cold drink on a hot day

And when I asked my 10 year old "what is something that everyone loves?" she replied, "New underwear. Everyone loves new underwear."

I think everyone's gotta love....

Fresh, crisp, clean sheets
Brand new crayons
A delicious meal cooked for them, by somebody else
Hot showers on sore muscles
Dimples!
And Im going out on a limb here-- fantasies involving every cast member of The Departed naked at once :D

And VT? Your kiddo is brilliant! I agree. New underwear :D

Apparently George Clooney wears new socks every day. Now that's how you know you've made it ☺
