I think it just simply depends on how you come across. I've told girls straight up that I think they're beautiful and they responded with a laugh. And that led to conversation. (And eventually divorce, but that's a whole other thing.)

I feel that your approach is just fine. It means nothing more or nothing less. It's a simple compliment. It's letting her know you find her beautiful. There isn't a woman in the world that doesn't love to be told she's beautiful. If she takes this as an attempt on your part to "get in her pants", well, that's on her and reflects her beliefs about men in general. It says nothing about you other than appreciation for her beauty and expression of interest. No need for the brass balls approach IMO. *shrug*

I have no idea whether it’s true, but the idea that men are more visually oriented is something I was told as a child. Perhaps men are more interested in looking at women, while women just go with the flow?

I agree with this to some extent; sometimes I focus on the woman, imagining I am the guy doing things to her, sometimes I focus on the man, imagining I am the object of their desire. I just depends on what is happening at the moment...

I have a Tumblr blog, and usually the images I post are to a theme, and that theme tends to reflect my mood and current fantasies. I rarely post images of men on their own and I rarely seek them for my own entertainment. I like participation, shared experience...yes..it's wishful thinking.

While the images will often feature the woman, and our eyes are consequently drawn to her, I'm drawn to it from her perspective. I think of the images as snapshots to a story (although as porn it's fake, choreographed, posed etc). I want that story to be mine. I want to have what she's having. And I'll have her sexy, flexible body, too.

Just search on tumblr gay porn or hot men and you'll see all the sites dedicated to beautiful men you can imagine.

Behind the scenes, the algorithms are recording what you look at and then feeding similar images back to you in your search results or in suggested posts of tumblr's to follow, so that is shaped by your preference.

Personally, I think men are sexy as hell too, though when it comes to images I tend to prefer the sensual, artsy and suggestive over the explicit. It's easier for my imagination to conjure an erotic story when I've got something more to go on then a naked person.

And often I find I create a whole story line of what came before and what will happen next.
The anticipation. The words being whispered. The scent in the air. The need.
The desire.
These images can help me think about things I want. Want to try. Want to experience. And the more suggestive these are the easier it is for me to place myself in the scene... as the specifics become a bit obscured and my imagination can fill in the gaps.
