Literotica Story Contest?

I came up with an idea while I was perusing the boards and thinking about my own writing endeavours. Maybe it sucks, maybe it doesn't. You tell me.

What do you think about an informal Literotica Story Contest? (I don't want to make it anything fancy because our dear Laurel doesn't need any more work to do! Nor would I expect her to come up with prizes or anything.)

Each month, a different theme could be chosen as the focus for the contest. For example, since it is October and Hallowe'en is at the end of the month, the theme for this month could be to write a Halloween-themed erotica story.

I think the old a.s.s newsgroup used to do something like this. I'm not sure how they went over. What do you all think? Are you up to the challenge of writing a Halloween themed story?

Hey hey hey Special K! It seems as though about a year ago we were talking about hot snow plow drivers with cute hats with ear flaps. Looking out my window, first snow on the ground. Brrrrr! Talking about chills ...

I like your idea about Halloween stories. I'll submit one if you will. But we got to move fast and not bog down Laurel.

What I would suggest is that Laurel set up a category called "Halloween Stories" on the contents page, like after "New" or between "Group Sex" and "How To," if alphabetical is best.

I also suggest that any "old" Halloween stories be permitted to be resubmitted. Only because I have one. And I doubt too many authors are going to be able do a story in a week or two which would be necessary to get them posted before Halloween.

Forget any sort of contest. We should just post a thread "Halloween story feedback requested" in the "Story Feedback" forum.

Laurel would have to give any Halloween stories priority with respect to getting them edited, approved and posted.

I don't beg often, but please Laurel? There are some people around here I'd really like to scare the shit out of.

If this works we could do it for Thanksgiving and XXX-Mas.

Raising The Dead...

I know this should really be on the Story Ideas board but would one of you be interested in expanding on my idea?

Here's it is The local Zombie King digs up a bunch of dead dudes and submerges them in a bucket of water under some spooky decorations and film noir lighting. He invites a group of cheerleaders round his spooky castle to play a Halloween game which he calls "Stiffs". Basically - instead of Ducking For Apples, the enthusiastic young ladies find themselves Ducking For... well, you get the idea. It's all there in the title.

(This story is inspired by the groupy girlfriend who tried to revive the recently deceased Hippy 'n' Western star Gram Parsons with a blow job. Her remedy didn't work, so his followers stole his body from its casket and, if I remember correctly, burned it out in the desert by the Joshua Tree.)

Obviously, the Z-King intends to raise an army of Zombies to take over Mr Mallard's Planning Commision. (See the 'Creative, mature lady......' strand)

rofl! Now I did have a wee bit of a 'bobbing for something OTHER than apples' idea, but I'm NOT going THAT far Roger! You'll have to tackle that one on your own!

You know, Deborah, I have that Plow Driver story somewhere. I think I restarted the dang thing about 3 times and I still wasn't happy with it. Maybe when they get on the road this year I'll get back to it. :) (Are you here in Moose Nads, ON too Deborah? We just had our first snowfall this week too!)

Give me some more Halloween ideas and I'll try to come up with something!! Eeeek! The pressure!

You all are not going to believe this, but I just found this thread right now. Argh. It's a great idea - too bad it's too late to implement it. Fuck fuck fuck. *bangs head against wall*

How about a Christmas contest, or is that too controversial?

Take two aspirin, and set up a contest for Christmas/Channuka(sp?)/New Year stories.

Or wait until the bruises heal and new scripts are up, then start a monthly Holiday Story contest with Valentine's day, Fourth Of July, Memorial Day, etc. I'm sure that our Canadian and overseas friends can come up with some other holidays to fill out the year.

Dagnabit Laurel....

.... I was quite content to let this thread slip into obscurity at the bottom of the Authors' Hangout! :)

While I did kinda come up with a Halloween idea, I have yet to even jot the idea down on paper/puter, let alone write the story! Since my next day off IS Halloween, I think it's safe to say, it's not gonna happen. :)

Sounds like a good idea for assorted December/January holiday themed stories for a contest though. :)

As for Canadian, etc holidays, believe it or not, we do celebrate many of the same holidays you celebrate in the US as well, Weird Harold. And for those holidays we don't have which are exactly the same, we have our equivalents. (Memorial Day = Labour Day; Independence Day = Canada Day.... etc)

Wow Xmas contest sounds great.

When I was in school last century I loved the O'henry Xmas story I think it was something like "the gift", where she got her hair cut to get him his gift and he bought her something for her long hair. (Duh you can tell I'm been out of school too long. ) I would love to Read an X-citing X-rated Xmas story!! No not a sado/machosist "You want to put that pinecone WHERE??" but a fun or romantic Xmas story.

Laurel maybe you are better off not having humorous catagory I'd be just too weird. ( Like I'm not already! ) hehehe

Hey, I know the story you're talking about, Nice Guy . . . it's called "The Gift of the Magi", isn't it? God, what a dork I am. Why do I remember stuff like that? :)

Great idea!!!!

I think that is a superb idea...and I submitted a Halloween story, but it hasn't been posted yet! :( But the idea about having different themes would be very helpful. It would almost force authors to stray outside their normal plot ideas. If the submissions were added into a seperate "contest" category, it might help in the way they are to be judged! I for one support your idea thoroughly!

I've rewritten my Xmas entry three times.

I keep rewriting my Xmas entry. I hope Laurel announces where we should submitt the entrys too soon.

Spiffy!

Well, here's hoping that something themed for the X-Masish holidays gets approved... Sort of a "Seasonal Best" kind of thing. Especially because I can think of some interesting variations on the old greeks myths of Persephone, Demeter, and Hades that work well with the whole "winter" bit, but aren't exactly christmas stories...

But at least it would give me an excuse to actually work on my writing again. Too many good ideas, too little time to put them down. *sighs*

Anyway. By the way, hello, everyone... 8)
