Literotica statistics.

Women like to watch and read about men having sex with men for the same reason men like watching and reading about women having sex with women.

Course us gals probably don't think all those two guys need is a chick like the guys do in reverse. Actually watch the regular lesbian porn sometime, they lick at each other, in a not really way then break out dildos and strap ons. Not the average lesbian sex experience though some lesbians do enjoy a strap on.

Same reason guys like sex, feels good. ;)

Course I should mention watching gay porn isn't a normal thing even for those of us gals who will watch it. Gay porn is worse than regular porn because there's no passion and the guys are clearly not into it. I mean in regular porn the woman is at least enjoying the dick as much as she can in the not stimulated fucking she is getting. The gay porn there isn't even that, the guys don't keep it up and look worse than bored.

Pilot says this further up, but I'll echo it.

How the hell are you figuring out reader gender? Are you shooting off an e-mail poll.

Got news for you, people lie across the board here.

there's a more men pretending to be women on the lit personals than there may be actual women.

user names mean nothing-reader or author-most lit readers think I'm female for instance.

The rumor in incest is its mostly men reading it, I've found that to be a misnomer. Many of my steady readers that have reached out to me are female.

Then again, are they? I only know what I'm told.

So sorry, but you wasted a lot of time with the sex of the readers/writers here.

Also, I find it hard to believe that illustrated gets over 300,00+ views per story.
But that could be backed up with a number, so I'll assume you did the homework. Just hard to believe.

O

When I used to play World of Warcraft (before it became ... strange) everyone knew* that most players were guys. And therefore all the female characters were really men playing girls. And this seems to be born out by experience a bit because when I played a female I was only "hit on" about twice in 5 years. So therefore guys know that all the females are really other guys.

So ... to be safe a girl would play a male, right? But if everyone knows girls play males then you should hit on the male characters. But experience also shows that, when playing a male character I wasn't hit on much (if at all).

Therefore a cunning girl would play a girl, because people would think "that won't be a girl" so they won't hit on the girls. But the smarter guys would realize that girls are doing that so they would hit on the girls.

So really really cunning girls would play male characters. Then they would be safe, right? Safe, apart from the dumber guys.

TLDR: you can overthink this.

* knew = speculated

Also, I find it hard to believe that illustrated gets over 300,00+ views per story.

I went to the middle of the category and picked three stories more or less at random: 250k, 595k, 41k views. So I'm willing to believe that figure.

It's a category that has the potential to attract a wide range of readers (whatever your kink is, it could be in there) and when you get there, there aren't a lot of stories to choose from, so any given story is likely to get a lot of clicks.

That one came as a big surprise to me, too. That it was on top, and particularly the sheer number of views.
The number of views that I take is simply the number that Literotica puts at the bottom of each story; I just have to take their word for it.

Bottom average score. That's one hard category to crack!

That makes me feel better about my LW Story in the contest. Still, it's very interesting to see which categories have the best scores. Hopefully next contest we get more categories represented, though. I'll try to get a Transsexuals/Crossdressers story in.

Complete list of gender of READERS per category.
Sorry those underscores are not pretty but the only way I could preserve table formatting...
Site aveage of 57.3% male / 41.1% female so the first part (ending at Text With Audio) are categories preferred by females, the rest are categories preferred by males. Also note the (expected) high number for transsexuals reading their own category.

@@sr71plt: while it may be surprising that females are not a majority for readers of GM stories, it is interesting how many females are interested in reading about men having sex with men.

The point was/is that your blanket statement is falacious because it's based on falacious statistics. You have no idea the real gender of any poster. Your conclusion may or may not be correct, but it doesn't hold water because it's built on unknowable "facts."

Getting actual numbers on homo/bisexuality is very difficult.
This as there are cultural issues (the whole issue of people willing to come out for their "abnormal" sexuality - heterosexuality being the norm in most cultures), and the whole definition of homo/bi/heterosexuality:
Does feeling some attraction to a person of the same sex qualify as making someone bi?
Does having strong attraction to people of the same sex, but sometimes also a bit to someone of the opposite sex, make someone not gay?
Does a person need to have had an actual sexual experience with someone of the same sex to make them gay/bi? Is kissing/touching enough to make a "sexual experience" or do you require genitals to have been part of the action?

From the link below:
Key findings from the study include among adults who identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual, bisexuals comprise a slight majority (1.8% compared to 1.7% who identify as lesbian or gay); women are substantially more likely than men to identify as bisexual; estimates of those who report any lifetime same-sex sexual behavior and any same-sex sexual attraction are substantially higher than estimates of those who identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual. An estimated 19 million Americans (8.2%) report that they have engaged in same-sex sexual behavior and nearly 25.6 million Americans (11%) acknowledge at least some same-sex sexual attraction.

These numbers are notably lower than what I find in my survey on Literotica, but then the numbers here are likely skewed as it is a site for people with a strong interest in anything sexual/erotic. A possible explanation might be tha.t gay/bi people are more aware of their sexuality, and with that will pursue more things sexual, including sexual fantasy sites like Literotica.

I guess i do watch the wrong gay porn videos, just I can only download what appears on the torrent sites. I'm not going to pay for them so I guess you can blame the people who put it on those. The thing is, what I get to watch is brand new videos by big name companies.

I've tried the trans videos as well, same thing to a lesser degree though everybody keeps it up with generally no problem.

Which means either the big name companies are not releasing good gay male movies, or you two are watching different ones that i don't find just by looking. So do you have any reccomendations? Actually searching usually leads to finding the video.

Personally too poor to actually shell out for my pornography. Try searching for snippets from men.com and juicyboys. Also Kink.com, especially bound gods. Lotta free porn on this site. It's still bad, but it's MY kind of bad.

about as sweeping generalization as all incest readers are from the backwoods and kiss their cousins.

But that's okay, cause you made that broad sweep isn't it bunkie?

I was making fun of you and your two-faced obsessions. Which is getting easier and easier to do (and glad it obviously jolted you--you're usually totally insensitive and clueless). I took emap as being serious (and I think I was correct in this).

I don't watch gay porn, but redtube has great videos in all the categories I do watch so would assume the same for GM. So you may want to check that one out sometime.

The same table but now for AUTHORS.
Of the authors, 58.1% says to be male, 39.1% female.

I give you credit for your effort, but again you don't know what gender an author really is.

Many men pose as women because it seems "hotter" to imagine a woman writing it, than a guy.

There's a lot of females writing as men and the other way around.

Numbers are factual, but gender here is a toss up.

Can you get a statistic for writers who use names opposite their actual sex? A lot of the male names in GM are women, and a lot of the lesbian stories are written by men under female names. Matter of fact, a lot of men write under female names these days, even in hetero cats because there's a perception that women are better writers of erotica. :)

One thing you learn in the beginning of a course in statistics is not to confuse correlation with causation. It could be that the perception that women are better writes of erotica comes from the fact that there are so many more women writers who turn out to actually be men.

One can never be sure. Even in real life (if those crossdressing stories on this site have any link to reality at least).
When it comes to having a man or woman write a story, I generally don't know nor really care - it's rare for me to click on an author profile, and if so it's almost always after reading a story.

Getting to know the actual gender of a lit user is impossible. An e-mail survey will probably give you a 90%+ confirmation rate that listed details are correct; those that lied while filling in the details on the site will likely ignore such a survey or simply lie again. All we have is what they say they are, and save for some surprise categories in most places the results are close to what I would expect.

Anyway take it as you like; as I wrote in my first post already it's for entertainment value only, not much scientific value can be attached to these results.

The point is that your conclusions about the gender of gay male readers were based on a flawed premise, so they are meaningless rather than entertaining.
