No, not trying to start a twelve step group, though maybe i could use one.

Yesterday just after 6 am I posted the following over on the AH:

You know that you might need to find a twelve-step support group for your Lit Forum addiction when...

... you wake up in the middle of the night from ypur way too brief sleep to find that you missed 15 alerts, and spend most of the next 3 hours plus reponding and expnding by adding even more threads...

...and all you think is "I could have used some of this time to be working on my WIP."

Well, at least I took enough time to fuel myself with coffee, feed the plot bunnies and didn't wake the dragon.

ETA: and you REALLY know you need help when you then start to feel anxious because no new alert has popped up in a half hour.

Then to really PROVE that I need help, I immediately thought "Hey, that would make a great sory, post it on story ideas tomorrow."

So, i'm sirhugs and I'm a Lit Forum addict.

If meth addicts go to NA meetings to score, and sex adicts go to SA to find hookups, do LFA meeting to orgies or kinky sex, or just to reading groups?

I have had Forum Addiction many times in my life. Not here on the Lit forums, but certain other ones. It is kind of a comforting addiction, as long as it doesn't interfere with living your life. And it usually goes away, eventually, to be replaced by some other obsession.

Probably the best way to deal with it is to get yourself appointed as a moderator. Then you can tell yourself that you are just doing your job!

How does that explain all the alerts from Forums that one does not moderate?😊

Hi, I'm CalBish, and I'm a Lit Forum addict. In the past seven weeks I've written...
  • One 10,000-word story I hadn't even thought of eight weeks ago, inspired by LitCon, just because someone else used one of my characters and that made me think a bit more about how I could use a third party's characters in turn, and
  • Between 10,000 and 15,000 words of another WIP I had the idea for almost exactly a year ago, which might sound impressive but it's less than a quarter of the outline, and
  • 4,400 words in the next installment of my ongoing series, which will definitely be the next thing I actually publish, no matter what, I know where it's going, I just have to actually do it, and this might be half the total of this installment, and...
  • 70 comments here. I've unwatched several threads I would have been otherwise interested in because it was too much of a distraction (or because people in them were going insane), but that hasn't stopped me from refreshing the forums. I've written over a thousand words of feedback on other peoples' stories not for any personal reasons, just because they asked. I've chimed in several times here in Story Ideas just to say that an idea sounds hot and the OP should go write it, which is the opposite of helpful to anyone, especially my protagonists.

Hi Calbish.
Welcome
do you agree that LFA meetings are likely to spawn stories about writing erotic stories?
