If I take Manu's counter argument of the writers need the function to reference their works in social media then the obvious answer is to make the share function available to only your own posts. If you wish to tweet your own posts then knock yourself out, but you have no right to tweet other people's posts. Presumably settings can also be forum specific so you can argue for it to be active on writing forums and deactivated on ampics playground and the likes if you want to safeguard further than post ownership.

I think this would be the sensible workaround to fix a problem. Probably easy to have it just produce a link for copying than feature a Facebook or Twitter logo as they produce cookies and tracking within a site, killing two birds with one stone.

Very easily. That what copy and paste is. Takes literally a second or two.

That's one thing I don't like. All of my 'followers' are from the Story side and probably don't even know there is a forum side. Plus, I had all of my stories removed.

It was, I think inevitable, and very likely the old Bulletin Board had drifted out of maintenance. I'm looking for the little button that used to be in the thread header that look me to my last read post. Yes, there is an equivalent button in the thread itself but, in the old system going into a thread then going to latest had enormous consequences on the last thread read pointer which 'was' BB wide.
To counter this I would go through all the thread headers first using the little 'last read post button' to open a new tab for each subscribed post. If I don't do this, by the time I get to the end the 'last read pointer' is changed for the whole site and I start missing posts on later threads, certainly after three forums and 30 or more threads the last read threads would have a seriously corrupted last read pointer.
If you can guarantee that by going serially through each thread and clicking first unread will work always I might be happy, but I will still open each thread in a new tab as when I'm done all i do is delete the tab and I am automatically in the next thread.
Long explanation as to why I'd like the little 'Go to first unread post' button back in the thread header. Pretty Please.

Short of doing a Factory reset on my phone, which I will not do, just to "hope" it'll let me log on with my phone. I have tried everything. I cleared all my Cache, I cleared my data. I downloaded Firefox to try that. I've tried on Chrome, and Samsung. I cannot log in with my phone. Android S10. I truly hope this is an issue with the new upgrades. It is just weird that I could log in perfectly fine prior to the upgrades, and now I cannot. My husband can just fine. Same phone. Same everything. So I've given up. At least I can log in on my laptop or kindle.

This is on Twitter. Looks about the same on Reddit. I deleted my Tweet about this right away. The thing about this that is concerning is how fast it could happen and how easily someone could breadcrumb their way back to figuring out who posted what and who we really are.

You say you're concerned about privacy, yet you post something here that appears to be your real name. Why would you, or anyone, ever use their real name anywhere on the web (unless you're a well known public figure)?

I couldn't log in until late last night. Apparently the new system couldn't accept my old password because it had a + in it. It didn't seem to accept capital letters either. It took me all day to figure that out. So my new pm is a string of numbers and a few letters.

My main question is was there any warning about this huge forum change on the boards, or did I miss it? I'm still yrying to figure out how to read threads without my eyes crossing.

How did you get to reset your password? I am unable to

Tried to set up a new user name to report the issue, won’t activate from my email address.

Had to use another email address to set up this account.

Several members are locked out.

What gives?

XF is leaps and bounds better than VB is every way. I didn't like it at first when it started appearing a year or two back, but by now most of the major forums have converted.

Privacy is common sense.

I'm sure the button/link could be easily removed, but then there would be complaints about it disappearing.





THIS is a MAJOR Flub that needs to be resolved though. We can't have this at all.

butters here, back under chipbutty with an extra A on the end. I read that there should be some integration eventually of older passwords to work on both parts of Lit; my old forum name&password didn't work back over at the main site anyway before (after i removed all my old poetry) and so wasn't recognised after the change. I'm sure Lit got flooded with notifications about problems yesterday, so ended up rejoining. Like SG, i had to use a new email address... tried joining with another username but using my usual email but that still didn't activate and so tried the new one. Took half a day but it's working.

I'll be sad to have lost so many hundreds of PMs, so many from H but also from friends and even from Byron back in the day. I don't suppose there'll be any way to retrieve those but maybe, in time, that integration will mean i can access the old butters account and save them.

As to the site, when i first saw it yesterday i was like "ewwwww", since it looked so dumbed down to be honest. But that's just old people and change Today, it's no longer new and i'm quickly adapting to it. Since i'm not posting pics, the issues others were mentioning don't apply to me. Gonna head over to the main site and check out my controls/preferences etc....

didn't have to go to story side to make changes, well some of them... if you click on your name top right of screen the drop down menu gives you a list for preferences and so on.

like the new spoiler feature, which shows something's there but doesn't reveal the words unless you choose to click on it.

Probably not something you can fix by clearing your cache. I’d give it a few days to see if it resolves.

As Orchidea73 (as well as other brave and intelligent women) has correctly and forcefully pointed out, if you still hold the erroneous opinion that the Share This Post button at the top right-hand side of each post which enables them to be shared with social media sites does not facilitate abuse and does not invade a person's privacy, then you are unquestionably mistaken.

If you still absurdly disagree, I offer you the following challenge:

Post several links to full-frontal naked photos of yourself including showing your face in each of them in the Amateur Pic Feedback thread and then all the women who post in that thread can share them on social media sites to see what your reactions will be.

You are loose with words and unwanted advice but you lack the guts to do it.

Prove me wrong if you dare.

Perhaps the risk is slightly increased for accidental sharing of sensitive information or photos, but otherwise I don’t think there is increased risk. There have always been people who save every photo they see. There are people who have folders of photos that were shared on this site. The risk has always been there.

I did read someone saying that attached photos are now visible to people not logged in. If that’s true, then there is an increased risk there, but that risk has always been present. As someone who has share pics here (never my body and my face together, although I have posted both), I understand that risk. Anyone sharing sensitive photos needs to be aware that there has always been risk associated with this and that risk is still in place.

I do not agree with you about your criticism of JaF0, by the way. I think they are a very logical person. I don’t always agree with them, but I have certainly seen JaF0 do good here.

Strange... I uploaded a new ava because the old one would be impossible to maneuver to get the text in there, and it seemed to fail. However, some pages are showing the new ava such as:

To all who are struggling to login on your main account:

I messaged Laurel on my temporary alt account with the details of my main account & my desired email address. I received a reset password email and I can access my main account again. It took a couple of days but I'm back.
