Is there anyone out there who has had successful and/or positive dealings with a literary agent/publisher interested in erotica, and who would care to share her/his contact with me? I have completed my first book and am interested to attempt entry into the published field.

Would appreciate any assistance.

There are currently 22 Agents and 33 book publishers listed on Writer's Market who accept Erotica.

First, of the publishers, more than half of them are E-Books, several of them are limited to Gay, BDSM and Lesbian. All accept books from first-time writers and unagented writers.

Second, forget the idea of a literary agent. These people are interested in making money. If you have a track record of good sales of books published, they will come to you. They do not have either the time or inclination to take on an unknown, unpublish writer. The amount of time they would need to invest and the likely payback makes no sense to them.

You will have to join the ranks of several hundred thousand new writers out there making submissions to publishers until your book eventually finds a home. If it makes money, both the publishers and agents will come to you.

Sorry, but that's the way it is.

Thanks for your helpful comments to my forum question. I'm under no delusions that it's a tough battle to get published as a new writer. In fact, I already have a publisher willing to run with my first book. I was merely putting feelers out for other contacts.

Thanks again.

Mac

To those who have sent their suggestions - thanks very much for your interest and thoughts. To "Firstkiss" especially, thanks for the link .... extremely helpful. Ta! Drop me a line sometime.~Mac

Mac--

Thought you might like that link -- it's been very helpful to me too! And the submission guidelines do change from time-to-time. I'm a new writer myself, so any resources which you find helpful you could definitely pass on my way and I'll try to do the same.

Congrats on getting a book completed - I seem to stall after 13,000 words or so!
Let me know if you want a proofreader.

Good luck, and drop me an email if so inclined.
