Lit Guys Tin Pan Alley

Cider rots the brain, I'm told.....

Cider here comes in a glass or plastic bottle that you buy at the grocery store and give to kids to drink. :)

If it's got a kick then it's called hard cider. Even then I don't think it reaches the potency level of that stuff you drink across the pond.:D

I actually prefer real ale.... Don't know if you drink much bitter in the States.

I've had it but it's not really common over here and given the regulations on pasteurization plus lower alcohol content... well.

But I know people who brew their own.

Visiting the UK and going to a pub is high on my list of things to do.

Better make it quick. Half the pubs I knew as a kid are gone, turned into apartments.
The government is trying to halt the closures but many a good pub has call "last orders"

There used to be lots of beer joints around that catered to the folks getting off work in the mornings and evenings. Just little hole in the walls. Not much for food... fried baloney sandwiches and the occasional, surprisingly good hamburgers, stews, and such. But they were a home away from home for a lot of people. They're fading away now.

Where do you live and what regulations on pasteurization and lower ABV? For the most part only Macro beer pasteurizes in US.

Really? Well cool, I learned something. I just know that micro-brewed beer at a nice place that does their own is so much better than anything from a store or a big-name brewery.

Yeah well you can get non-pasteurized beer and high ABV beers from those micro-breweries. And hell, you can even get a shit ton of craft beers at most stores anymore.

Seriously dude. How about you doing some posts on need to visit micro-breweries and recommendations on craft beers? I may be speaking for myself only here but some educational clarity would be appreciated. After all, it's the gift-giving season with invitations to parties and such. Taking the hosts a really top-notch craft beer or growler from a microbrewery might be worthwhile. Not to mention knowing where to go if you're in another city for a good meal and brew. :)

I already do here and there. Just have to look around.

Yes, I've seen some of those posts.

Are there some special limited-time brews or holiday brews to be in the know on?

Not sure if this is available where you are but have you tried Mad Elf by Troeg's?

It's 11% ABV and I fucking hate it. Everyone around here swears it's amazing though

If so it would only be at the liquor stores, so I'll check and see. At that ABV I don't know if I'd like it or not though.

I hear ya. It's super strong and IMO terrible. I keep a few in my fridge around the holidays because visitors go fucking nuts for it

Heck, I've got friends who go nuts over any beer that's free, regardless of how bad it is.

I’ve had it and other Troegs. It’s a Belgian Strong Ale and pretty malty if I remember. I think they try and balance it out with cherries. Not a beer to be pounded obviously but small portion was ok.

Kicking back with a Stronbow/Guinness.
King’s Crown? Kings Float? Something like that.

Definitely a once in a while but pretty awesome when I do.

As an aside....
Clothes shopping...licks balls...

But the difference between men and women....

Her...you need to actually put them on and walk around in them. They always look good on the rack.

Me...let’s buy both, keep the receipt and bring them both back if they’re garbage.

Simplicity. ;)

IDK, I've always just gone to buy a few clothing items at a time and like to try on pants and shoes first. Returning stuff is a PITA.

Any time I've gone out clothes shopping with a lady it always involved stopping someplace nice for a meal after. Even better getting to go to a book store. :)

So there's supposed to be no women allowed in here... yet a pretty woman comes strolling in here with some yummy food and it's okay. Men are soooo easy... Jeez!:D
