I have photoshop 5.5 but never use it. For the few Ive done already, Ive been using PSP7 and animation shop. I think you are referring to layers and they scare the hell outta me!
Also....for some of your pool animations, it doesnt even look like a second pic was involved......if it is, its VERY well hidden....looks like one original still, with a wave like effect.......

The great progress you've been making recently is so obvious in your latest anim that I doubt you'll convince anyone here that you're too dumb to pick up a few new techniques - you just need the right teacher . . .

Thats how I learned and it does help because of instead of having a big book you have a tutor. One o the "engineers" at my work told me
of a fantasy house they had in mind. & I do know
they exist. Its spanish style, mostly brick.
All the rooms are built around a courtyard with a
swimming pool. So its a big square with an
enclosed courtyard. All the rooms have a
sliding glass doors to get to the court yrd.
So,,, as long as there are no hi rises,
(other than the dudes, Mostly privacy.)
