The limerick is a funny / humorous five-line story told in verse that has a particular pattern of rhyme and rhythm. Rhyming words can be made up with nonsense words. Lines 1,2, and 5 rhyme, as well as lines 3 and 4 rhyme.

with a pen and paper in each hand
their instruments steady
the seconds stand ready
