LilKitKat's Second Cumming Thread 💦

havent done all the math but i bet he doesnt even need to do that much to seal it in. but i could be wrong...havent tried computing it all in my head yet.
I was doing the math earlier, and essentially, for Max and Oscar to win it in Abu Dhabi, one of them needs to win all three races with Lando finishing no higher than 3rd in the sprint, 3rd in one GP, and 2nd in the other. If Lando takes 2 second places, and neither Max or Oscar sweep, he wins.

He has the count back tie breaker over Max in 2nd place finishes should they tie on points, and race wins, so he is still in control of the championship and can seal it Qatar with a sweep.

if after Qatar he increases his lead by just 2 points, he wins.

On paper that's not difficult. I think Qatar is supposed to suit the McLaren anyway. As long as they give him the right car on Sunday, and he's not in his own head, he should be able to do it.
Verstappen is still in with a chance, especially if the two McLaren guys, eliminate each other at one of the next races.

I don't think they're at risk of directly taking each other out. I think the team knows they need to keep them separate on track and will strategize to do that.

They're in greater danger of being taken out by someone else, a la COTA, due to being bunched up in turn 1.

I don't think things are as punchy between them as Vettel/Weber were where they will recklessly disregard team orders. Norris 'should' understand how easily he can lock this up and be doing everything to avoid watching the race from the side of the track.

Hmm, it's amazing how the battle for the drivers' title, can escalate into a war between teammates...

After all, neither of them might have a chance to ever win it again.

And that's the brutality of motorsports.

Button couldn't defend his 2009 title.

Massa never came close again after 2008.

Alonso just can't find the right team.

Ferrari handed Hamilton the 2019 title from Vettel in the last half of the season.

I think this is the closest Piastri will be able to get as long as he's Norris' teammate.

For all we know, Hulkenberg will be in the right car for 26 and Audi will have it right from the get go abs we'll hear Ricciardo yelling "Niiicoo Uuuuulllkenbeerrrgg!" From under the podium when he clinches it next year.

Yes, some guys never get a second chance.

You could add Eddie Irvine, Michele Alboreto and Carlos Reutemann, to that list.

F1 is a cruel sport, at times.

I didn't get into F1 until after Irvine's heyday. I'm sure he sympathizes with every driver who has been obliterated by Max as he got that treatment when Schumacher came on board with Ferrari.

For sure.

Irvine was stitched up by Ferrari...

At the 1999 European Grand Prix, his mechanics arrived with three new tyres, instead of four, during a pit stop....

Just Ferrari doing Ferrari things. Ross Brawn should be ordained as a saint in Maranello.

I saw on socials yesterday -
Max needs to be P1 with Oscar P2, Lando P3 or below in all races to WDC.
Think Lando needs 1 full race P1 (not the sprint) and to outscore Max/Oscar in Sprint

Going to make for an interesting few races for sure!

Ah, I did not see this before
